Soweto, I've known daad.de for years. It is a website similiar to mastersportal.eu. They list out Universities offering courses with the requirements/details and whatnot info you may require.
Sometimes, it's better to agree to disagree.
Let's let this thread continue to be a platform where people can gather information, share opinions and guide others. There is nothing wrong as to telling people to seek out a course that is accredited and an accredited uni, is there ?
sowetto:

I'm not sure you read my entire post before replying. My point is that uni- assist has ABSOLUTELY nothing to do with accreditation of courses/programs. If you don't know something, it's best to just keep quiet.
If you need any information about accreditation of courses go to daad.de
Please let's not post assumptions here in order not to mislead people.

The fact that I gave is accreditation. Read the comment through again. It's a chance not an assurance. I'm responsible for what I say, I'm not responsible for what you understand.
And I'm glad you agree that some courses in Universities are not accredited.
Finally, a breath of fresh air. Whew!

HMMMMM.......WELL UNI-ASSIST ASIDE,

e get one of my courses for TU hamburg....i no see their accreditation for there o.
anyways, i mailed the course coordinator to confirm.

Tu Munich admits via Uni-assist
University of Freiburg is accredited but not all of its programs are (refer:http://accreditation.org/university/de/albert-ludwigs-universit%C3%A4t-freiburg)

You can find a list of Institutes and programs accredited here: http://www.hs-kompass2.de/kompass/xml/akkr/maske.html
Accreditation agencies - http://www.akkreditierungsrat.de/index.php?id=5
(ASIIN - I believe is the highest though

I see you have either chosen to post misleading balderdash or have dedicated to waste space. First, the first link only refers to Engineering courses in Freiburg and never all the courses offered in the school. Did you even bother to peruse through the site? For the second site, I didn't bother to check as its more like a blog.

Again, I can confirm that almost all the English taught programmes in TUM are not through Uni-assist. They use the tumonline portal. FACT!

DanIndia:
This is something you fail to understand. DAAD is a directory, Uni-Assist is an agency that evaluates international degrees or certificates. You fail to still understand what shot 30 has got out of 100.
Universities do not, in most cases know anything about the way you grade scores in your country. WES, Uni-Assist are educational agencies that does all that for them.
I understand what you think you're doing. You're probably guessing because a uni has a University of Blah Blah makes it accredited. Now, I see you listed names here and when you go and search the top universities, you'll find these schools listed way below. I'm surprised you didn't mention Cologne too.
I study in a city where there are 5 or even more Universities, you see out of these universities, all of them has this name University of this and University of that and mine let's say its different. Now when I checked in the database of International renowned Universities, I found out my University was the only one accredited and listed on that website. In Germany, it was listed H+, there is a chance where those Universities you mentioned are listed as H- or an ordinary H elsewhere, I hope you know what that means, your degree is given a lower priority compared to others. This, you may not understand yet, once you do more research to contradict my view, you'll get to know what I'm talking about.
And by the way, I see you mentioned University of Munich, you believe because it's a University of a Capital city and that makes it known-ed more than other Universities!? There are even University of Applied Sciences that are better than that Uni (I strongly believe).
And you're the one who seem to not be understand my piece of advice. You're taking it way out of proportion.
Almost all the schools admit NON-EU students via Uni-assist. If the school doesn't go with Uni-assist, there is a 70% chance the school is not accredited and a little bit of advice for everyone, please choose an Institute that is accredited. Nor be all certificates get Value now o.
That was an ADVICE o. You can decide to follow it or not.
Guy stop spewing unconfirmed gist, check all the internationally accepted rankings and check which school is either number one or two in Germany. Check QS, The Times and Shanghai Academic rankings of university then come back and post what you see.

You base your evaluations on what you "strongly believe", is that not flawed in reference to issues like these? I can tell you authoritatively that no UoAS is ranked within the first 500 and those Unis I mentioned are within the first 100-150 in the world whatever ranking body you choose Including Heidelberg of course. I didn't mention Cologne because its not in the top 5 bracket.

You can give advise, that's good, but don't back them up using fictitious fallacies, old wives' tales and fables coupled with misleading and imaginary statistics.

Here is an excerpt on DAAD from Wikipedia (although not a credible source of research information but I have confirmed everything on DAAD's official website.
" The DAAD itself does not offer programs of
study or courses, but awards competitive,
merit-based grants for use toward study and/or
research in Germany at any of the ACCREDITED

students, and scholars for studies and research
abroad. With an annual budget of nearly 400

50,000 grantees annually, approximately 11,000

DAAD is in fact the largest such academic grant
organisation worldwide. The organisation was
founded on 1 January 1925 but closed down in
1945, only to be refounded again in 1950."

Would Federal government and EU fund unaccredited courses?

"The DAAD is mainly funded by the German
government and the European Union. In 2012,
the DAAD received 407.4 million Euro.
Foreign Office (Germany) : EUR 178.6m
Federal Ministry of Education and Research
(Germany) : EUR 96.8m
Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and
Development (Germany) : EUR 37.2m
European Union: EUR 57.2m
Others: EUR 37.6m"
Check the report here.
https://www.daad.de/medien-und-publikationen/en/29887-annual-report/

To finally show the ultimate flaws in YOUR STRONG FACT DEFICIENT BELIEF. Here is an excerpt from Uni-assist.

"WHO IS UNI-ASSIST AND WHAT IS ITS PURPOSE?
uni-assist is a membership corporation, which all
state-approved German universities [b]can[\b] join."

"3. FIND OUT WHETHER YOU NEED TO APPLY
THROUGH UNI-ASSIST
uni-assist [b]is not always responsible for all foreign
study applications [\b]to our member universities. It is
up to each university to determine which applicant
groups and which degree courses uni-assist is
responsible for or not responsible for. If you
belong to an applicant group or are applying for a
degree course that uni-assist is not responsible
for, then you cannot send your application to uni-
assist."

Look at Uni-assist website and you will find links to DAAD on every page.

No, Nigeria does not use the ECTS system. There is a formula which you can use to calculate the number of hours achieved(this could include practical lab classes, number of hours attended and exams) and you can get the number equivalent to ECTS credits. And by the way, a much simpler way is this. A proper full academic year is equivalent to 60 ECTS (Again, this depends on the college attended)
Thanks a lot. I attended Uniport. You said there's a formula. Do you have it? Or do you know where I can get it online? Google is not being friendly...

If you attended Uniport then you're good to go. I don't remember the CGPA uni-assist recommends.. I think 2.4 or something.. not sure. You can do some findings.
This link should help work it out -> http://www.eur.nl/ese/english/education/examination_board/requests_to_the_examination_board_ese/converting_foreign_credits/

There is another website that has a much simpler way of calculating but I don't remember it. I'll do some more findings and get back to you.
If you're planning to pursue your Masters in Germany and you have 16 years education, you're good. 16 - (Senior Secondary + 4 years of Uni)

I hope this helps.

Chai! I read your comment, I remember that Benin professor when dem dey always use dey play for YouTube.
Are you looking to understand something or you're just looking to fill this thread with your huge VOCABS!? Forgive me, I'm not a native english speaker shocked (I'm not asking to see your English papers either)

So let me take a little bit of my time to attend to you. This, however, will be my last response as people like you never, ever conform to what others have to say. This must be a trait and I'm sure you're used to it (no offense, eh!)

1. I posted many links, not just one, and you've chosen to point out at one that only refers to Engineering. Forgive me, I may have sent that hoping you'd read through the comments and use it as a referral but you didn't.

2. You've just asked to check International accepted rankings, do you not know that a Uni is not just ranked based on all its courses but on a special field. UoT is good for Engineering, but not for Sciences. Ryerson is good for networking but not for Engineering. These schools are also ranked top whatever you want to classify it as. But that being said, you keep confusing top ranked universities with accreditation(Sometimes proof reading doesn't help, understanding does).

3. You've mentioned I've based my evaluations on what I strongly believe. You want me to base it on what ? I stated in one of my earlier comments, it is an advice, you can choose to heed to it or not. You may think it is wrong, but let that be your own issue (don't let it be others) People can actually learn something from it, whereas you may not.

I've seen the excerpt that you've posted on DAAD.de. My initial comment on this forum had nothing to do with DAAD.de and it's possible that could be correct but I do have a question, are you saying that all the institutes that are not listed with Uni-assist have all their courses accredited ? (I realized something, a few people think I said because they are not admitting via Uni-assist does make them unaccredited, this was not what I meant, I meant there was a chance they weren't accredited)

I'm actually a bit tired of all these rantings. You can choose to agree with me or not, I wouldn't be the first nor the last person a few people wouldn't agree it. I would repeat with, opinions are way different from facts.

Do have a good time and all the best in your endeavors.

A semester in Nigeria is 30ects so if your degree is 4years which is 8semesters, multiply 8 with 30 that will give you 240ects and if your degree is five years, do the calculation as above. It doesnt depend on school, a semester in Nigeria is 30 ects in Germany. Most schools require 210ects and in cases where you dont have up to 210, lets say you have 180 (for direct entry peeps) , a specified working experience or an agreement to undertake internship before the programme ends will suffix.

This is very wrong, my school for example is not under uniassit and all courses are fully accredited. You can never be admitted into a Fach without it been accredited, talking from experience.

You've been to Germany last year I'm not here to tell you how many times I've been to Germany, that would have nothing to do wit my intention in the first place. Knowledge is acquirable whether or not you've been somewhere.
And Rayhut, if you've been to Germany on a course, why not share information then? You could know better than I do... read my comments I stated - there is a chance, not a certainty and I never said what anyone said wasn't true or not. There is a chance that you could give an information which may be current at a time but now outdated.
I'm not asking for you to agree with me or not. You can say you do not agree and move on, there is no need of trying to insult someone because they've shared an opinion and it doesn't agree with you. I'm surprised that's what everyone seems to be doing and I'm beginning to not see the fun in it.
And It's OK, if you're going to respond with another insult, I'll try my best to shun it. I don't think this is what I bargained for when I decided to share what I had to share.
Rayhut:

You are not a prospective student hoping to go to Germany for studies and you are here causing nuisance,I have been to Germany on a course last year, I am in the right position to give you correct information about studies in germany. Do you think that Germany is a developing country like India. Courses offered in any german university have passed through accreditation stages that allowed the university to start to enroll student in the course waiting for final accreditation. You have not been to germany for studies so keep your mouth shut.

And to everyone Eke40Seven, Rayhut, everyone that has posted above.
I understand if you guys think the information I shared above doesn't agree with you. That's totally OK. This is a forum, I'm a user of many and I've disagreed with a few posts myself and agreed with some, however, not in some form I've seen above.
I apologize and you guys have admitted, it is wrong (your opinion, and everyone stands corrected - me inclusive!). I did not mean to cause any form of misunderstanding or attention-seeking in anyways (Believe me, that was not the plan at all). The last two pages of this thread have all been about arguments whether or not accreditation or whatnot, but that's expected in a thread.

Once again, I'm sorry - let's make this thread what it was, and is supposed to be; a learning platform.
Best of luck to prospective and current German students.
What do you say we move on, no?

Gud morning to all the Heroes on this lovely thread. have been following this thread for a while and honestly, words cannot express my gratitude towards everyone that has contributed one way or the other to everyones life here. my question is this, as team summer that would be starting by April 1st,2015. admission letter is yet to be out by now. please will the remaining part of this February and March be enough for the visa processing? considering the fact that, one will still open a blocked account, and the date of interview is not yet known. With what have been able to decode on this thread so far,it takes two - six weeks for visa to be out after interview. Please do team summerApril still have enough time for all this processing or admission should be defered? and to all teamsummer, has any one received his/her admission letter?

Here is my submission, the number of visa applicants for summer are quite few, I don't think they are up to 20% of winter applicants so getting an interview date from the date of your booking should not be far apart. Someone I know was given 1 week after the day of their booking recently, while I got 6 weeks! last winter. So you have that on your side.

Secondly, the start date for your course is not absolutely the most important thing but your ENROLLMENT DEADLINE. That's what you should calculate. If you can enroll from Nigeria, that is even more fantastic as you will never be rejected on. the grounds that your enrollment deadline has elapsed. In some cases you can request that your deadline be shifted and the school could agree but note that its not so easy getting the request granted.

I shared some tips on how you could hasten the process at the alien's office through your course coordinator last year. Note also that its not all schools that will offer this extra service. If you are lucky, your visa will be ready in no time because its the Alien office in Germany that ultimately determines how long the visa will take before being issued as some are as faster than others.

Hope you find it helpful

God bless you.

Mr Eke40seven thanks so much.God Bless you too. am so happy with your response. But another question is, hope is not too late now to receive from the school concerning admission letter stuff? since their application deadline was 15th of January.
