I wonder what politics has to do with running a university... all this line about Government not providing power, government not doing this in the country what have we done for our country? I mean it is so easy to blame the Government for everything. The same story keeps being repeated every time you give a Nigerian an opportunity to speak. What I keep hearing 90 % of the time is Government is not doing this and that. Question is Who makes up the government? Are we not part of the government? They people running those positions are they not our brothers or sisters? The one that ticks me the most is when people blame the President for everything when he is equally a human being just like we all are.He cant obviously be everywhere I hope we know that. Some of us cant even run our homes talk more of running a local government or a whole nation. Now those running businesses in Nigeria to be successful all you have to do is study the Nigerian economic environment,do research before starting up their companies. You do not just wake up and put up a business Nigeria. Though i may not know the full story of the above situation. I would think that those who setup the school should have known they may likely not have constant power or water supply from the respective power or water supply companies in Nigeria and take adequate steps to handle it. Agreed the cost of doing business in Nigeria is high but then again adequate research is paramount before delving into any form of business or venture. Lets try to be Proactive and not reactive and stop all this its PDP's fault or its APC's fault. |

Frankiss44: I have relations who have studied or are studying abroad. In all their schools it is the GOVERNMENT that makes sure the university premises and accomodation gets water and light. But you Nigerians don't want to get your govt working for you...because it is such hard work. No. You want to sit down ad chop. Abeg.....wakey wakey and tell your governor that he is remiss in his duties. Adeboye is not the LG chairman or water board DG or even governor or President last time I checked. The reason why we don't have enough jobs is because it is too expensive for people to set up industries in this country....when you have to provide your own water and light supply. Serious countries have this provided already. |

alchemist: Guy.... Learn to get your facts right before making conclusions........ Did you talk to any of the students?? I'm really tempted to insult you....but No I wouldn't. There was what I call an "Almost Rain Storm" on friday evening which led to electrical faults on the general power supply "I guess an electric pole fell"..... Now the school generates water itself with the use of electricity.....This absence of electricity led to water shortage. Now to clear your silly doubts....the power generators were used to pump water that same saturday evening you took those pictures. Normal electricity was restored Sunday Noon....... And who the hec told you there aren't tables??....... I had my last class using a table mister!! But tell me, Is that how you were taught to source information in the public school you attended??..... Too bad. 3 Likes |
Re: Redeemers University Students Fetching Water by Nobody: 2:53pm On Feb 10, 2015 |
chigoizie7: You Nigerians..... The reason why we do not have enough jobs is because the cost of doing business in Nigeria is too high due to the fact that you have to provide your light and water supply yourself. If the local authorities and the Govt in Abuja (whose responsiblity power is) had been serious....the Univeristy won't have been the ones to provide water and light for the campus....it would be the govt...and the university just has to pay the bills. So...PDP is very much to blame. Not the University. (And no....I am not a redeemed member). |

alchemist: We Nigerians are so quick to jump into conclusions without getting facts right. Based on the pictures you posted I can already tell you didn't get your sources correct. Please tell me one Redeemer University student that was actually called or asked to confirm this situation. Thanks to "last genius who explained better". Also let me add that First, I have personally seen students of RUN in RUN, there is no where a female student will be allowed to walk around in trousers, shorts or wrapper. Secondly, for crying out loud, it is not only RUN that is in camp, there are also residents that permanently live there, and equally whenever a program is going the number of people increase. Thus we see those who stay there temporary or for business purposes of buying and selling to the campers, since they don't have a house, they tend to use the public bathroom. and when the population exceeds the water available (not to include some that misuse the water), the water in the reservoir for one section of the bathroom gets exhausted and people are forced to go to the next bathroom or the nearest tap with their own buckets to get water. My point is, whoever it is that posted this force information should ensure facts are gotten corrected, don't just assume from what you see in picture. You cannot judge a book by its cover. I can also sense whoever created this thread has a personal dislike either for redeem or RUN. Go settle your matter else where, why look for fans that will support you. How can people even confirm the pix is genuine one, why not state the hostel, road or building that is in the picture, add sensibility to the use of technology especially when you have to involve public opinions. God have mercy on you. (Note: I am not a RUN student) |

Agent of Darkness! See how you allow Satan use you so cheaply. You have made no point. This looks more of a temporary situation and the location shows it's a new site. Lastly, have you asked yourself why it is only female students that you saw? You should have gone to Male hostels too and show us how they fetch theirs too. Woman wrapper, Mr. Peep, go and find better work to do. |

bushdoc9919: Accepted. Yes. The authorities are meant to provide all the social amenities. But as u clearly stated, "the high cost of doing biz in nigeria is because govt couldn't provide the basics" which makes us to provide our lite and water and in return increase fares. In this case, the so called private sector, increased fares but couldn't provide water and perhaps light, is that not exploitation? Sori to say this, but when I was in school, a federal university, their are steady water supply, adequate electricity though not a 24 hour by PHCN, but a 24hrs on both PHCN nd generators, if u charge high, u provide the necesities, and u can't provide dem? Den u charge low |
