I have seen countless people get it wrong. I will explain to you guys.

Most of us believe our sole reason for going to school was to get a "Good" Job. Hell no. Believe me, it is a lie from the pit of hell.
We go to school to become proficient in a Trade.

Medicine
Civil Engineering
Food Science
Botany
Accounting
Sport Science
Zoology and the likes. It's about becoming proficient in a trade.

People refuse to accept that one of the major decisions we make in Life is defining our career path. And career decisions are made right when we accept that awesome or (in most cases) miserable course the UI, UNILAG, CU, BELLS, OAU, ILORIN of this world offered us.

To get the best out of life, you have to enjoy it. It is the simple truth.

An average person think a bank Job is shitty, I do too. You work absolutely impossible hours. But then when you ask a True Bankers, they will tell you they LOVE their Job.

That's life as it should be.

When you enjoy living life, depression becomes a mood. You get over it in record time.

This article is directed to every frustrated Jobless youth out there.

For the love of God, determine your true calling. It is what you need.

Don't be quick to call God when you don't know what you want. Even God will ask you what you want.

You can't be applying for every John, Dick and Harry Job ad you see out there. Are you James Bond? Even Bond can't act all movie roles sad

You may have heard of Nairaland. Seun Didn't start NL because he needed money. He started because....I wish I knew grin. The fact still stands anyway, he didn't start NL because he needed money. But look at him now. He is a million dollar baby grin grin

You may have heard of HumanOfLagos. The owner of the initiative is a Nairalander. He started just about a month ago. Today...he can write a textbook about how good he is having it. All he needed was a Camera smiley
Tochi love his camera. Today, he is living off it.

You may have heard of Linda Ikeji. She never started blogging out of the intent of getting rich quick like most of our bloggers now think.

One of my Friends(Also a Nairalander) at school have a really sweet mouth. He can talk any girl into sleeping with him, he proved that on countless occasions. Today he is making a living off his mouth. He talks people into buying really expensive clothings. He bought his first car from his own pocket at 22!
He sells at a profit of #1,000 per item. He sold over 2,000 item in January alone!

My 22Year old Programmer friend was being literally begged at a V.I Firm earlier today to take a 200K Job. Guess what? He turned them down!
He is that good and Money isn't a motivation.

It's only a pity that the counseling profession is dead in Nigerian.
What most of us need are counsellors and maybe bank loans smiley and Not necessarily fasting or prayer.

Let's live life. It's the way to go smiley

But I disagree with you concerning applying for every dick, tom and Harry Job.. we really have to be realistic here, this is Nigeria. .. If you keep waiting for that dream job, you will grow old at home, only a few graduates actually get their dream jobs immediately after service. .. So what am I saying? ? Start from somewhere instead of being idle waiting for that dream job .. Idleness breeds alot of negative stuffs.. Most times the skills we get from these lil jobs are what actually project us to our dream jobs, the confidence, knowledge, enhanced skills, knowing how a cooperate organisation operates, improved communication skills, moral etiquettes, improved self esteem etc. .. I for eg work outside my field/dream job, but I don't regret it because what I'm getting here is priceless.. Also, most times those managerial skills, interpersonal skills, effective time management et al we get from these small jobs come handy in our dream job...Again, telling an employer you have been idle for like 2yrs waiting for your dream job doesn't sound cool at all...You can't tell me working at KPMG while waiting for that oil company job is bad undecided

I will only advice against what I wrote above, if while waiting for that dream job you take some professional exams, masters et al...

Have a great day... TGIF smiley smiley

You're getting it all Muddled up!

I don't preach idleness, I'm not a Fan. And I can't see where I mentioned SHELL, CHEVRON, NNPC and the likes.

Thank God you said "We all have to start from somewhere". That is my bone of contention there.

We all have to start from somewhere and not anywhere.

You have to want something to get it. You get nothing by wanting anything or everything.
Applying for all Job ads without reminiscing about what you really want is worse than Cancer....not literally tho grin tongue

Hope I am making sense undecided

Interesting. In summary, whether you're a teacher, banker, businessman, engineer, etc does not matter. bottom line is to enjoy what you do. Like my friend would say.. Life is short, enjoy it! No one is getting out alive anyways.

Why is this yet to be on front page?

If it's Susan Peters stuck in a bathtub now, it would catch the Mods' fancy.

@OP...Nice writeup. Not without flaws, but quite expository and ambitious.
