Election Postponement Is Jonathan’s Grand Plan To Win – Obasanjo by mustymatic(m): 2:30pm On Feb 14, 2015 |
The former President made the statement on Saturday in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, while speaking on the state of the nation and giving his opinion on the election postponement. He, however, appealed to politicians in Nigeria to ensure that peace and tranquillity reigned supreme. The former President also asked President Jonathan not to consider the removal of the chairman of the INEC, Professor Attairu Jega, as the decision may truncate the nation’s fledging democracy. Forcing Elections Postponement Obasanjo further accused the President of forcing the elections postponement on the INEC, a situation he said was designed to make him win by all means possible and if not create chaos and confusion in the country. The former president, who was the nation’s military leader from 13 February 1976 to 1 October 1979 and a democratically elected president from 29 May 1999 to 29 May 2007 , further expressed pessimism on the possibilities of achieving success in the ongoing fight against Boko Haram by the Nigerian military and other allied forces. He urged the leadership of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressives Party (APC) to ensure that the nation’s democracy remains intact. Not Consulted By INEC During a Presidential Media Chat on Wednesday, President Goodluck Jonathan responded to allegations that he had forced the INEC to postpone elections in his interest, saying he was not consulted by the INEC on the postponement of the elections. |

jayonpoint: So OBJ is now a saint and a hero? Jesus Christ of Nazareth! Why do we Nigerians reason and talk like this? This same OBJ singlehandedly put Nigeria in the mess we're in today and you stage him a hero? That man is no better of a crook than Oga Jony.. Moreover, he hasn't merited the respect you people sort for him since he had to stoop low enough to sleep with his daughter in law. As if that's not enough, he's at war with his own daughter.. What respectable quality is left in this man? |

All of this irrelevant noisemakers on Nairaland ehn, One can only laugh at your folly. Calling obj all sort of names coz he refused to support your obviously inept president. No matter how much y'all hate him, Olusegun Obasanjo despite his several shortcoming is arms and legs better than your President Jonathan. At least he increased foreign reserve from 5billion usd to abt 45 billion usd. How abt excess crude account. Telecommunication etcetera. The agricultural reform that gej is making noise abt seff is obj's ishh. He gave us gej, not directly though, he couldn't have predicted president Yar'Adua's death. He has since realised like so many of us that Jona doesn't even deserve to lead a local government area. Like every right thinking Nigerian, he wouldn't support Gej again no matter the number of times he prostrates and rolls on the floor. Change is inevitable, obj is fully on the train of change. 2 Likes |

francizy:If Obj put us in dis mess wat did IBB brought upon us? Tell me obj did bad for bringing Jonathan as VP? Ok! Tell me u expected obj to stil help Jonathan to do his job as a president as it is obviously Jonathan is still a learner n can't lead a small community. Jonathan Kas only proved one thin, dat Nigeria can't b save in d hands of a SS/SE part of Nigeria. Check d composition of dis govt n u wil see hw it was plan to favor a particular section jst within D stretch of 6yrs presidency. Such a shame! |

jayonpoint: How was it planned to favour a section and what has SS/SE benefited that Northern Nigeria hasn't benefited in double folds? What's the biggest impact GEJ made in SS/SE? Even his home state hasn't benefited from his rule, yet you people propelled him as a sectionist. Am not his fan but that won't make me judge him blindly. I can only list for you this reasonable points on where GEJ failed.. He tried to please every big man/woman in Nigeria in order to favour his reelection and this was at the detriment of the populace. Funny enough, the people he tried to favour turned against him. A good example is when he was supposed to use JTF and tackle BH. That had already started but GMB cried fowl and GEJ went low on that. He wouldn't probe prominent politician because he didn't want to go out of their favour. Etc. You shouldn't put the blame of failure on SS/SE because all our past leaders from North and SW all failed woefully and all brought this huge mess on us. We have to always take away sentiments in our judgement in order to pass out better judgement free from bias. And I don't even understand how you pass down a SS person's administration down to SE. I bow for you people oh.. |
