There are a gazillion places in Brisbane. I gor a lot of places qhwn I first thought we would be in Brisbane.

Try checking for caravan parks...they have economy cabins which are cheaper than hotel rooms.

Forget airbnb...nobody will answer you there with Naija IP...you cant even instant book sef.

It is good to know you have settled in. My sister the rent for Australia no be small thing. How person wan save with that kind rent. Na to dey work for landlord be that. Anyway don't mind me. I have not decided on where to settle because i am yet to find someone in Australia that i know personally that would put me through and also i need to save more before relocating finally. How did you get to know about the temporal accommodation because i need to look for one for my family before coming. i know hotel bills will be crazy over there.
What is temporal accommodation? Flip side of 189-spoilt for choice!

bossyladymo,

Good to see you settling down nicely. May God keep the family well.

Hello All,

Please I need your advice, I have lodged for a reassessment with VETASSESS. I am waiting however, if i plan to move to Oz, I intend doing my Masters Degree in Engineering, I was wondering of the possibility of one getting the 190 PR, and then applying for a Graduate Program in a University in the selected region, while still in Nigeria. Is it feasible? I also know once one gets the PR school fees are a bit cheap.

Also I want to ask Is australia like the UK, where how highly rated your University is influences the speed and the consideration for Engineering positions.

bossyladymo, gogochocolate(long time, how body), UbkTech, please all help

Apologies for my plenty questions

My brother thanks for remembering me.Your planis a good plan but i think you have to activate your permanent residency status by visiting Australia first before you become eligible for getting a discounted fee rate. Most schools ask for Australia permanent address and permanent residency status to determine what fees you would be eligible to pay. I am still in Nigeria for now and I don't know much about employment criteria in Australia. Bosslady, would be in a best position to advise on that.

With your PR you can study in ANY university in Australia, but to apply while still in Nigeria, you might need a local Australian address & contact details. Usually, the school will ask you to declare your immigration status on the application form and send a copy of your passport with which they check your entitlements using the visa online verification service - VEVO.

As for fees, ANY study above Bachelor's degree is FULL FEE PAYING, meaning they are not supported/subsidized by the Australian government.
But I believe it is a bit cheaper than International student fees

The Incentives you will get as a home student include: being able to study part time/online/distance mode, accessing student loan if you qualify and working unlimited hours.

As for the admission process, I believe you can always get a place as people here are not so keen on postgraduate studies. The few that I have talked to in my place of work see it as a huge financial burden, in most schools you tend to see more of Chinese and Indians than Caucasians.
But avoid putting all your eggs in one basket by applying to as many as you can, by and large, schools here are quite flexible.

Good morning guys,

Visa subclass 573 granted to my brother. Application date: February 4, Date of Receipt of Application at Pretoria: Feb 11, grant date: Feb 18, Medicals: front loaded.

Thanks to you all for invaluable information gained here.

Special thanks to Futuredon and Dr Juliana.

PS: he didn't use English Language Test. His Uni cleared him based on the fact that his OND was taught in English, his COE contained 'English Language Test - Pass, Test Type: Other'. I mentioned this because this was the subject of much debate and we were quite worried before Futuredon put our mind to rest.
