George W. Bush Says He Avoids Criticizing Obama Out Of Respect For Presidency by saintandsinnerz: 9:30am On Feb 19, 2015 |
Former President George W. Bush explained Thursday that he has avoided publicly criticizing President Obama because he feels it would undermine the office of the presidency. “I don’t think it’s good for the country to have a former president undermine a current president; I think it’s bad for the presidency for that matter,” Mr. Bush said Thursday evening on Fox News’ “Hannity,” Mediaite reported. The former president said that, though he follows politics and is “very aware of what’s going on,” he has no interest in generating headlines for himself by bashing his successor. “Secondly, I really have had all the fame I want,” he continued. “I really don’t long for publicity. And the truth of the matter is in order for me to generate publicity I’d have to either attack the Republican Party, which I don’t want to do, or attack the president, which I don’t want to do. And so I’m perfectly content to be out of the limelight.” Mr. Bush is currently making the media rounds to promote his new book, “41: A Portrait of My Father,” which he calls a “love story” about his dad, Former President George H.W. Bush. No need for this news. Obasanjo knows that by publicly criticising the president, he is degrading the office of the presidency. His own daughter has asked him previously he if will take the type of rubbish he is dishing to Jonathan. The problem is not with Obasanjo, the problem is with the other elders in the country who are unable to call Obasanjo to order just to preserve the sanctity of the presidency. 9 Likes |

Sane former presidents proffer solutions to problems facing the country. Please, that statement isn't applicable in the case of obasanjo. 1 Like |

Ok, we have heard you Mr. "Bush the terrorist" that attack Iraq, kill millions and destabilizes the country till date with an unexistent WMD possession claim, but over here, we have a president that insult his own office and the others add to the insult for the guy. 1 Like |

To me, a former president criticizing another one especially when they are from the same party is bad. Doing so will surely undermine the office of the president not even the occupant. What people respect is the presidency not the individual occupying it. So OBJ erred when he has started denigrating the office of the president which he once occupied. It is a low for me! 1 Like |

Is Baba Iyabo(OBJ) reading this...even as Tyrant and Dictatorial George Bush was as a President and taking unpopular decisions such as Invasion of Iraq and some other Economic Policies, you hardly see Bill Clinton criticising him or abusing like Obasanjo is doing now. OBJ has personal grudges with GEJ, forget about all these national interest matters, OBJ is using as a Decoy. 5 Likes

kastonkastrol: Kastrol, how far? I have respect for Obasanjo but I think he is losing it. Look at Babangida and other ex-presidents, they behave much more maturely than Obasanjo. I think someone should call Obasanjo to order. Thank God for today and enjoy your day. 3 Likes |

Ashleyma77:You are absolutely wrong. If you have ever visited the US and watched their local CNN, you would understand that Obama is not spared from criticism. My experience while I was there shows he enjoys more criticisms than praise. Don't be deceived by the CNN you watch from your house in Nigeria. George Bush could have chosen to join the league of critics, but he would rather choose the noble path. Not every ex-president is lousy and untamed like the Owu hominid. |

Former Presidents all over the world do everything they can to stay away from the spotlight after finishing their tenure to become statesmen. OBJ on the other hand is busy catapulting himself daily on the spotlight for cheap popularity and power. Among all Nigeria's former leaders, OBJ is the only one devoid of Respect, Civility and good Manners. |

Goerge bush has no moral ground to stand on and criticise Obama, he lied, to start a wasteful war which belittled us in the eyes of everyone, his stup1dity in iraq has given birth to the monstrosity called isil! And Jimmy carter criticised bush during his evil presidency everyone shutting up while evil triumphs is a recipe for disaster! |

America dont currently have a fool and a useless glutton for President like ours so its understandable. Ours is different. A corrupt bastard is currently on the throne and it will take a courageous former head of state like Obj to continue to talk sense to his head. Besides America is a developed country, we arent. 1 Like |
