Malam Garba Shehu

The director of media and publicity of All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Organisation (APCPCO), Malam Garba Shehu has accused the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) of being behind “dirty campaigns” of hate against the APC presidential candidate, retired General Muhammadu Buhari and his family as aired in the recent documentary by AIT and NTA.

In a statement yesterday, said that the organisation has evidence and has confirmed that NIMASA was indeed the sponsor of all the documentaries against Buhari on AIT, NTA and several other media platforms.

The development, according to Shehu, contravenes the NIMASA Act, Public Service Regulations, and the Electoral Act 2010 as amended. APCPCO said if the claims were to be true by the Joint Committee, disciplinary action should be taken against the agency and its leadership.

“It is a well known fact that the Director General of the Agency, Mr. Ziakede Patrick Akpobolokemi was President Goodluck Jonathan’s and a well-known ex-militant’s errand boy. He was appointed there for the sole aim of satisfying an ex-militant’s camp, an assignment he has carried out well to the satisfaction of those who put him there through the award of a concessionaire phantom PPP project. Under this contract, a certain company (Global West Vessels Specialists Ltd) was handed the legal responsibility of the Nigerian Navy (NN) of protecting the nation’s waterway and NIMASA’s maritime security function to the surprise of all industry observers and yet fail woefully in offering the necessary protection for the theft of Nigerian crude oil, which has only increased since then among other sea related crimes.

“It is not enough for President Jonathan to claim he doesn’t know the sponsors of smear adverts if he lacks the courage to punish them once they are exposed,” Shehu said

These are the 2 contracts by the Jonathan administration that is a major feed to the monster bedevilling Nigeria and turning it into a failed state, and a personal estate of King Jonathan, it was widely reported by Wall Street Journal and major newspapers in Nigeria - just google it - I like the composition in the piece titled, Help, This Nigerian State Is Failing By Ayobami Oyalowo:

”In August, the Wall Street Journal (WSJ) broke some disturbing news about Nigeria. It was reported that some ex-militants in the Niger Delta had been paid about N6.32billion within the past one year by the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC). Yes, for the ‘noble’ service of providing security against vandals for the Corporation’s oil pipeline network. Imagine! The breakdown, as outlined by WSJ, is this:

Chief Government Ekpumopolo (alias Tompolo), Alhaji Mujahid Asari-Dokubo, ‘General’ Ebikabowei Victor Ben (Boyloaf) and ‘General’ Ateke Tom were respectively paid N5.1 billion, N1.44 billion, N608 million and N608 million yearly by the state-owned NNPC, as ‘protection money’ to guard the pipelines they once attacked.

As if that was not enough an insult on the collective intelligence of Nigerians, earlier in the year the Federal Government awarded a contract worth $103.4million (over N15billion) to the Global West Vessel Specialist Limited (GWVSL) – a firm widely believed to be owned by Tompolo to supply 20 vessels for the use of the nation’s military authorities to secure the waterways. Director-General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), Ziadeke Akpobolokemi, had last year sent a memo titled, “Award of Contract for the Strategic Concessioning Partnership with NIMASA to Provide Platforms for Tracking Ships and Cargoes, Enforce Regulatory Compliance and Surveillance Of The Entire Nigerian Maritime Domain,” to President Goodluck Jonathan.

In considering the memo, President Goodluck Jonathan and Akpobolokemi chose GWVSL as the preferred company for the 10-year concession agreement, renewable for two terms of five years each. Jonathan, in a memo dated 9th November, 2011, with reference number PRES/99/MT/61, approved Akpobolokemi’s memo, which the Federal Executive Council rubber-stamped on 5th January, 2012. According to Akpobolokemi, GWVSL “will provide platforms for effective policing of Nigeria’s maritime domain and ensure compliance with international maritime conventions on vessels and ships voyaging the country’s waters”. NIMASA maintains that the concessionaire would help the Federal Government to enforce the sabotage law and collect levies on its behalf. This, in a country that still maintains a statutory Naval force, and without a track record for GWVSL?

From the above, the current occupant of the presidential villa showed where his loyalty lies…rather than train the military, he equipped criminals and vandals who had taken up arms against the state. No wonder so much arms and ammunition have found their way into Nigeria and our country has now become one gigantic human abattoir where someone is killed on an average of an hour, daily. Between January to May 2014 it has been estimated that over 1,500 people have been mindlessly cut down by terrorists and blood thirsty killers.

hmmmm, NIMASA and NNPC are the largest revenue yielding agencies of the Federal Government and one who imagines why our Economy is in comatose state need not look further.

The cabals are deeply entrenched in both Agencies of government.

when NIMASA gets involved in partisan politics and leaves one of its core mandate to wallow then there is need to wonder what's happening to |Nigeria.

A visit to the sole Maritime Training Institution in Nigeria will make one weep for Nigeria and the future of the Maritime Industry in Nigeria

nO

No Training Vessel for cadets, no ARPA, No RADAR or other Bridge and Engine simulation facility yet it is supposed to be our flagship Maritime Institution.

Why can't NIMASA use the wasted N5million/30minutes documentary it is sponsoring on NTA and AIT to build facilities at MAN ORON?

How did a Lecturer II civil servant who is not a seafarer end up as the DG of NIMASA? all he needed to be was PA to TOMPOLO and cliché the job was his based on TOMPOLOs phone call to jonaTAN.

Mariners are running to Ghana Regional Academy to do their Mandatories and COCs because ship owners are rejecting oron certificates now.

I pray God open the eye of Nigerians to the damage the PDP has done to the nation.

Helen Usoro was the last maritime professional that headed NIMASA, the likes of Omatseye and Dosunmu were all political jobbers but at least they didn't hand over the nation waterways to militants and thieves.

parasite..more than 50% of the cadets under nimasa scholarship scheme abroad are northerners;same number goes for cadets on local and foreign vessels on nigeria workers..some buddies of mine in nigeria got their STCWs n other relevant papers cortesy nimasa n are now onboard....nimasa is trying, just that u northern parasites have long hijacked the agency, despite the fact that u parasites occupy a larger than necessary chunk in its administrative positions n also, despite the fact that u tapeworms got no single water for vessels...same bulshiit at the npa...
the old seamen that ran the defunct nigerian national shipping line are today languishing in poverty...the former dg of nimasa, alh baba, and past and current minister of transport, all northerners, refused to see to the payment of their long overdue pension and gratuity simply cos, among other wicked reasons, there are few northerners among them!
U are just a bleeping grieving and whinning parasite and a robber..

The APC never seizes to amaze right thinking Nigerians with their bare faced lies and outright falsehoods. I shudder to think what would happen if by any stroke of ill fate, they manage to grab hold of power at the center [I pray it never happens or Nigeria is done for with people like Tinubu and Amaechi in the background]
