Why Would First Classers Not Get Jobs In Nigeria by kunlenkirol(m): 7:48pm On Feb 20, 2015 |
It is only in Nigeria that people with good grades wouldn't get good jobs especially those that made first class in school. Gone were the days when graduates with first class or distinction authomatically get job. In those days, having a first class is a passport to living a better life. This is because graduates with such results were being sought for before their peers with lesser grades will be considered. In Nigeria today, first class certificate does not equal living first class life. The question is, why is it so this days and age? Could it be that these graduates do not merit their grade? Or could it be that the economic and social melieu of Nigeria have made employers not to gun for these people? Your contribution plz! |

Quote1: You're right. They are unemployable. They just sit around and bemoan their fate. Why should a first class student look for a job when he can create jobs. Everyone wants to be employed. No one wants to employ. 1 Like |

I quite agree that some of them are not employable. But one can not really blame them becaus our curriculum does not even teach how to create business or start your own business esp those under arts, social sciences. These wards are not taught these and moreso, the system is not favourable. Our country has become a den for unemployment and our graduates are wallowing. God help us all. |

Why must a first be looking for job in first place? To graduate with first class means you have what it take to become employer of labour. But the fact that you cram throughout your university days will rub you practical idea of what you have studied. Challenges ahead first class is more than employing them they should go and practice what they have study. Even somebody Like me will not employ them. |
