Make I here say this guy no be Nigerian. Choice of lexicons like 'class seven', 'plus', etc make me know say u be confirm nija boy. In short, I put it to u that u are an Igbo man

Haha...why Igbo exactly and not Yoruba or Angas or Tiv or Hausa etc? In Kenya elementary level grades are referred to as "classes". "Plus" is a widely used informal conjuctive.

Haha, No. I'm actually not Nigerian. But I've read so much about it that I probably know more about it than most Nigerians I think. I'm African though.

what i have learned from this thread is that
1.nigerians are pessimists.
2.nigerians are hard lot to convince.
3.most nigerians are not proud of their country.
4.most nigerians are not welcoming.
why am i saying this,if this post was from a nigerian and in a kenyan forum this guy would have welcomed by many aperson to kenya. It didnt take me long as a kenyan to realize this guy is a kenyan however many of you doubted authenticity of his citizenship. He is a kenyan who happens to know more about nigeria. however it is not unique to him most kenyans do know more about not only nigeria but also other african countries.Thi is owed to education system that encompassed history and geography in their system and such was not limited to kenya. Many many more people would like to visit nigeria as tourist my request is welcome them it will make a difference. It will change the way the world view nigeria. You have what it takes to be a tourist destination if you only appriciate it yourselfs first.

You made lots of good points. Too bad so many people are negative. I'm not Nigerian either and find the culture and people very interesting ...... even the negative doubters are entertaining grin. It would be a much better world if we all showed more positive interest.

Thanks. I guess you might say I'm literary inclined. My mom was a librarian/teacher and that's how my interest in literature began. Yeah, I'm definitely going to wait till you folks sort out this election thing. And I'm definitely not going to Maidaguri.
Since you won't be going to Maiduguri, try Bornu instead... cheesy

Now this is truly an African.
Not the white folks who'll ostracise the whole of Nigeria in lieu of a part.
All of Nigeria is not dangerous. Unless you visit Borno, Maiduguri, and some other northeastern states.
no offence intended.

You shouldn't make such an offer jokingly, I may very well take you up on it smiley

Sasa? Welcome to NL. It's interesting & u'll learn alot about naija. Being on NL makes you feel like you've been to Nigeria already.

Your write up reminded me of my desire to visit Zanzibar. I read stories about hidden treasures & the Sultans. I'll definitely visit it someday.
As for plan to visit naija go for it. It's your happiness so go for it. Goodluck.

Poa sana. Thanks. Zanzibar is a nice place. The beaches there are magnificent and so are the ones in Kenya. If you go to Zanzibar cross over to Kenya, you'll like it too.

Wow! U'r awakening tht side of me again. I used to read African literatures from the onset, then I threw them aside while burying my head with bayọlogy(biology).

When I resumed again, 'twas only european/asian thingy, trying to know those WW and GD stuffs.

Ur claims will take me back to my Ngugi Wang Thiong'O(nt sure I got tht, bt tht spelling na :*)

@op, I'm very encouraged by your enthusiasm towards Nigeria/ns. I really hope you make it there one day and your exprience exceeds your expectations. I often wonder about the number of diasporan blacks that would love to visit the places in Africa they have read about. It's a natural progression that comes with reading...........and imagining.

Hahaha..which year were you in class seven? Was in class seven in 1995 when we did GHC, and i can never forget my GHC teacher. Kenya nd The Rest of Africa. He would come to class and narrate his "voyages." How he went through the grassland savanna, the Equatorial climate, the Kalahari desert and what he saw.

He would start the class with "When i was in Zambia, I met Kenneth Kaunda." And the we would cruise through Gamal Abdel Nasser of Egypt, Steve Biko of South Africa, Joshua Nkomo of Zimbabwe, Kwame Nkuruma of Ghana, Julius Nyerere of Tanzania, and Haile Sellasie of Ethiopia. For some reason, we never studied Nigeria Leaders or South Africa's Mandela or Mugabe. Though I remember studying the Hausa and the Fulani. Wow....that was a long time.

quite a traveller.
