The soldier that wrote this had time to be taking pictures during training, mutiny trial and when cameroonian soldiers were patrolling their borders...OP, u don try, Take your campaign some place else.

That said, I SALUTE and. PRAY for all the soldiers who have fought and are still fighting this security menace....those that stare evil in the face just so that we can sleep, the soldiers that left their families and loved ones to sacrifice themselves just to protect us.
You guys are our real HEROES! God will continue to give you the strength, grace to destroy all our enemies.

And for those of you using the security menace as campaign, I hope you know that our soldiers are winning the war against Boko haram. We will conquer and Nigeria will overcome.
God bless Nigerian Army, God bless Nigeria.

You hide behind your keypad and call somebody who has put over 20yrs in the Nigerian Army a Coward undecided How dare you. Tell your Oga Jonathan and the Service chief to put this house in Order, lest we will continue seeing more of this 'cowardice'. Nonsense

With some comments i read here, i can say the future of this country looks bleak inhabiting the same place with duch people with one track mind.
Everything is seen to be about painting jonathan bad while people are dying!!
what stops the helicopter and alpha jet to participate in the battle whrn it mattered to swing the battle in their favour rather than join when the troops were already on the retreat and disorganised. Does the past military rule account for such operational flaw or did that prevent the army from getting water flask for the troops.
its obvious that the way is deliberately being prolonged by the top heirachy because of the benefits derived from it.
we have been hearing from several sources that allowance is cut to N1000 daily yet it still persists.
All the issues raised here shows there were equipments but they were witheld prior to the battle so its not really abiut equipments but the sincerity to fight.
l'm someone would have collected money for water bottle for the troops and kept it to himself therr causing the death of many soldiers that fell by the way side from exhaustion

My friend will you keep quiet! What boko haram are you fighting and you are having access to the internet right noow... Where are you serving? Do you see the way boko haram took over 324 battalion in mongunu(if yo are a soldier anyway). All soldiers deserted their command...including senior officers... I'm still looking for my brother till date army has no info abt is where-about. The last time he was shot by the BH. The family treated him with their own money.. By the time he reported to back to base.. Some1 had been collecting his bonus fee(the one giving to multinational joint task force) and signing for collection.

There are too many Hausas in the Nigerian army which means they are trying to support the blood which are BH. I don't see why we need to associate BH with any political party but as Nigerians we should stand as one and fight them for the peace of our dear nation.

All these GEJ apologists! you have learnt the art of playing the blame game just like your master.

Did you read the part where the soldier gave an account of how good things were for them under Abacha? or is Abacha now from niger delta?

Boko haram is a creation of the pdp meant to kill Nigerians for cheap political gains, Azazi comes to mind.
Now you have decided to end it in 6wks and i dare say that only the creator of the insurgency can achieve such a feat. Like they say, the makerof pencil is also the maker of eraser.

God is set to judge the pdp via the forthcoming elections which they are trying to frustrate, but the collective resolve of the people cannot be trampled upon by a few.

GMB for genuine overdue change.
so PDP has turn to prophet Mohammed whose doctrine those boko haram are following right. Perhaps PDP is the one that send people for jihad for exchange of 72 virgin.or PDP is a political wing of prophet Mohammed for him to achieve his unfinished business on earth right? I wonder why some people don't hv brain of reasoning

Touching! Before any re.tar.ded TANoid starts denying the story and claiming its to discredit Jonathan, notice that he didn't really blame the government for his dissertation but corrupt, careless and incompetent commanders! Although they are still the product of the clueless government.

You are the one that's absurdly foolish. If the account of this deserting soldier is the true picture, then no soldier would still be in the battle field. You are one of the gullibles who fall for anything in the name of propaganda. We have watched documentaries on wars in which solders loose lives because of ammunition exhaustion and Nigeria's case should not be an exception. This soldier had had his mind focused on foreign operation which attracts many largesse but felt utterly disappointed when redeployed for Boko haram battle, obviously he was not ready for any internal military assignment. The Army is not meant for soldiers who complain of jollof rice, it's not a profession for those who wants to be rich like politicians. We salute the courage, patriotism and resilience of our loyal Armed Forces.

Only a heartless Nairalander will try and defend this government by reducing this sad but worrisome account to the debacle between APC and PDP.

Yes, President Jonathan is culpable. He is the Commander in Chief. He should be the lead Project Director on this Project to destroy the evil insurgents. He should demand daily accountability. Unfortunately he is a wholly delegative leader.

The number of casualties and overt cases of mutiny are clear factors showing fundamental issues, if unabated may pose greater danger.

Without the right enabling environment, no one can function optimally. Without the right motivation, results cannot be achieved. Soldiers do not join the army to die, they join to protect our sovereignty and to win wars. They are human and should be accorded with right level of empathy.

Quite sad! angry

Abeg commot there.
Why won't it be reduced to APC and PDP when it's the only thing the APC can campaign with? Since we started winning the war on terror have u heard any of them come out to even commend our soldiers? Instead that Oby Ezekwesili started another silly count down for the Nigerian Army.
If Boko strikes you will see all of them making noise like this OP and the gullible ones like you will fly out from your behind your phones to make unnecessary accusations without facts. Sit tight, Jonathan will come and cook for you.

He got to the northeast in January, and he deserted in February because of one battle gone bad?
What of those that have been fighting since day one?

As a good soldier if you are loosing a battle, you retreat to minimise casualty and re group to fight another battle in hope of victory.... deserting doesn't cross the mind of a dedicated soldier
talk less of deserting after just one bad battle!
