Yesterday, a quantum leap was recorded in our quest for stable power supply with the commissioning of 750MW Olorunsogo Power generation station in Ogun State. Today, still in the spirit of confining power outage to perpetual obscurity, the President and Commander In Chief of Nigerian Armed Forces, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan is presently commissioning another power station in Ikorodu, Lagos State. The project which came to fruition as a result of Mr.President's commitment to effectively lighten up Nigeria is the largest in West Africa and will add about 1320 MW of power supply to the national grid. Let's celebrate an achiever.

Yes, that's what it means. However, there's a caveat here, all hands must be on deck to fight against agents of backwardness who have been vandalising gas pipelines thereby preventing constant supply of gas to power the plants. The Minister of Power was almost in tears while narrating the destructive tendencies of the vandals in his presentations penultimate week. Going by his words, some disgruntled elements had always gone on prowl to sabotage improved supply of electricity by blocking gas supply maybe, to serve as a campaign tool for those who wants to hijack power by all means. The cheering news is that, according to the minister, the days of the vandals and their sponsors are numbered..

Yes, it's the commissioning of Unit 6 of the thermal plant and re-commissioning of the entire structure as a result of rehabilitations.

I have worked for ROCKSON engineering on some of these NIPP projects. our Politicians usually commission a power

station that is 40% complete during electioneering times just to get the attention of the people.

Yesterday, it was Olorunsogo Power Plant phase 2 now generating 750megawatts, today is Egbin Power Plant Unit 6 generating 220megawatts, both together give us 970megawatts pushing our total national megawatts to 4970.

The egbin power plant will bring about 16% power improvement to Lagos state, and some ingrates will come here and insult the president. I just wish GEJ will do to you guys what OBJ did to Idris Aldukadrem.

OBJ spent $16billion to generate 2000megawatts and GEJ is spending $8.6billion of which $650million of the $8.6billion has generated 750 megawatts. Using a layman calculation Obj $16billion would have genarated 21,000 megawatts ($16billion/750megawatts), and he has the gods to accuse GEJ of corruption and running a mediocre government. We nor blame Obj.

Chief, take the pain to find out if Egbin had ever operated at expected optimum capacity. You just mentioned that series of explosions had taken place there in recent times. But do us a favour by stating the operating capacity of the thermal plant in the last two decades.
