Henry120: First, as I have posted (with citations) many times, 5 or 6 are currently in service Second, as I have posted (with citations) the upgrades on the Olifant Mk 2 make it superior in terms of accuracy and optics to the T-72 Third, the only thing the Olifant and Centurion have in common is the hull, everything else has been upgraded over the years Fourth, you clearly dont even know what a Centurion tank is, and as usual you have no idea what you are talking about, because it wasnt around in WW2 you complete dingus!! |

Henry120: We told no lies about the vessels and their operational status. They have been in the same numbers since we bought them, according to the plans we formulated before we bought them. One Valour Class at sea, one in reserve, one in refit/repair/maintenance and one being used as a training platform. Same applies to the subs. Your A109's are not the modern A109 LUH and since you do not live in a free country, information relating to their flight status is not available. If they are anything like your navy, chances are they havent flown in years. And again, our A109's are all operational. Your attack helicopter numbers are inflated and are based on rumor not fact. Your light attack helicopters consist of ONE Gazelle and your Super Puma's are not attack helicopters you clown. Again I have to remind you that the size of the country does not dictate our needs with regards to attack helicopters and that 11 Rooivalk can do infinitly more damage than your flying relics. You have no evidence to support your claims, we have 18 Aircrew and that is final. |

Patchesagain: 1) you begged the French for safe passage. Reuters and the UN Agency on the ground confirms this. 2) you deployed none of those, probably in your dreams, but in actual reality the SANDF did not deploy any. 3) yes, it is a conflict, not a game of cricket. It didn't stop Seleka from brushing you aside and taking the capital the next day though. |

Patchesagain: NNS Aradu at Nigeria's fleet review in 2011 4 corvettes NNS Dorina NNS Eyimiri (participated in exercises with the chinese fleet last year). NNS otobo NNS Erinomi Missile crafts NNS Ayam NNS Siri NNS Ekpe NNS Zaria NNS yola NNS Eku All represents fleet that can adequately defend Nigeria against outside Aggression. With the Ability to quickly turn NNS Thunder, NNS Okpabana to additional frigates, and NNS Centenary and NNS unity to additional corvettes. The fact that the Nigerian Navy is functional and adequately prepared to counter outside Aggression isn't in doubt. This Navy is backed by over 300 additional crafts, 10 Helicopters and 2 ELINT compliant surveillance assets. 3 Likes

Henry120: 1. Citations have shown, Seleka signed a cease-fire, and the local AFRICAN peacekeeping force provided transport to the airport. 2. Citations have shown we did deploy gripen, rooivalk, c130s and a battalion of men http://www.defenceweb.co.za/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=30633:rooivalks-gripens-and-troops-were-sent-to-the-car&catid=111:sa-defence&Itemid=242 3. 200 mean stopped 4000 men dead in their tracks for two days. Our job was never to hold or defend the capital. You should not be one to talk, considering that Boko Haram has carved a country the size of Belgium out of Nigeria. 1 Like |

Patchesagain: First of, you have no Patria IFV's in service. Until you have one, we can have this debate. Up-grading 2 1940's tank doesn't change anything in a fleet of 200. no matter how much lipstick you put on a turd, it's still a turd. The Olifant is a Centurion tank. It was launched in 1946, 1 year after world war 2 ended. Your Olifant tank was produced when Winston Churchill was the Prime-minister of Britain. Boy....... that's a museum piece, a real life dinosaur. http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Centurion_tank#/media/File:Centurion_cfb_borden_1.JPG 3 Likes

Henry120: Yes, we know their names, but here is their status: Nigerian Navy: 1 Frigate -Aradu un-operational since 2007 4 Corvettes (only 2 operational at this time) - NNS ENYIMIRI nonoperational since 1999 - NNS ERINOMI nonoperational since 1999 - NNS Okpabana - 48 year old, stripped of any usefull equipment by the americans - NNS Thunder - 49 year old, stripped of any usefull equipment by the americans 6 Missile Craft (only 2 operational at this time) - NNS EKPE, NNS DAMISA, NNS AGU, NNS EKU have not been operational since 1999 Your picture of Aradu proves only that it floats, likely it was towed there by a tug And no, Nigeria's coast gaurd has no warfighting ability at all - your Frigate is non operational, and your two missile armed strike craft are non operational. And you have no ability to weaponize the Cutters, while the re-fit of your OPV's is no small task and there is no evidence to suggest that the OPV has any of the necessary radar or other equipment to fire missiles. |
Re: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by Patchesagain: 1:04pm On Feb 22, 2015 |
Henry120: Badger is in service: “Denel Land Systems and Patria have signed an agreement regarding Patria AMV 8×8 armoured wheeled vehicle serial production and delivery to South Africa. The agreement includes 238 vehicles, out of which 5 pre-series vehicles have already been delivered during the development phase" http://www.defenseindustrydaily.com/denel-patria-building-south-africas-next-ifv-03317/ Again, the only thing the Olifant has in common with the Centurion is the hull, and even that has more armor on it. It is effectively a completely different tank. The Olifant Mk2 is comparable in every way to your T-72, as I have shown with citations.

Patchesagain: You especially told a lot of lies. Let me get this straight. As soon as SA Navy got 3 brand new Subs, you immediately 1 of them into repair for 7 years? So you were conned, you got probably 4th hand sub's for brand new price. This is why I have consistently called on your government to "Scrap" the SANDF. You only need a police force in S.A. So because your A109's are modern, that's why your fleet is always grounded, while those in Nigeria are always in the Air. So this your fleet of "modern" A109's are designed in such a way that they don't fly, but to only stay parked in hangar. Wow!!!! In Nigeria we have a Freedom of Information Law. Your right to free speech is enshrined in the Nigerian constitution. Nigeria's attack Helicopter fleet is 54. 48 MI-35P/M/24V and 6 Gazzelle Helicopters. I didn't add 12 MI-17 terminator1SH helicopters. NAF super-Puma's are armed, I did not refer to them as attack Helicopters. Although the can as well perform attack duties. While you have 10 Helicopters for 1.2 million square KM. Yes, you have 18 Gripen Air-crew. 9 pilots and 9 navigators for 26 planes. Pathetic!!! 4 Likes |

Patchesagain: The Patria IFV's were delivered to South-Africa for evaluation purposes only. The link refers to that. No Patria IFV's in SANDF service yet, this is a statistical fact. The Olifant tank is only comparable to the T-35, Tiger and the U.S Army M-24 Tank, all of the same era. As you can see, all of the pictures are in black and white colour, excerpt for the centurion in the museum, and of course SANDF active main battle tank.

Re: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by Patchesagain: 1:39pm On Feb 22, 2015 |
Henry120: Nope, we decided to change equipment and upgrade other equipment. We chose to do it ourselves so it took longer than normal. During that time we still had 2 submarines operational - which is something you could only dream of. Who said it is allways grounded? There have only been two groundings, once pending the outcome of an air-crash investigation, and once again when paperwork regarding maintenance got messed up. The fact that they are more modern and advanced means that they require more maintenance. Nigeria does not have a free press - infact, your press is one of the most censored and constricted in the world http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Press_Freedom_Index Again, your helicopters numbers are bloated and based on rumors. You only have one Gazelle. Factually speaking you have only received a handfull of hinds and others. Again, we have a better ratio of helicopters to men than you do and helicopter needs are not based on land mass. Finally, can you prove that we have only 9 pilots and 9 navigators? No? So why are you lieing? Why have you resorted to such pathetic trolling? 1 Like |

Re: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by Patchesagain: 1:46pm On Feb 22, 2015 |
Henry120: Again, you show your lack of understanding. The Olifant Mk 1 is not the same as the Centurion, only the gun and hull are the same. The Mk1 (in your photo) is now in reserve, just like Isreal has Centurions in reserve. The Olifant Mk 2 is not the same as the Mk 1, only the gun and the hull are the same. The Mk2 is comparable to the T-72 in every way except gun-bore And furthermore, about the MK2 This is claimed to be a state-of-the-art MBT turret featuring hunter-killer, fire-on-the-move and day/night target engagement capabilities. The turret is also fitted with a full solution fire-control system with automatic sensors for meteorological parameters and dynamic tilt together with a state-of-the-art gun and turret drive system. According to LIW, the turret has a high hit probability when the vehicle or the target is moving or stationary. In a typical target engagement the target would first be acquired by the tank commander who would then hand over the target to the gunner. The tank commander would then start to search for another target to be engaged. http://www.army-guide.com/eng/product894.html Does that sound like a WW2 tank to you? |

MikeCZAR: Even Cameroons navy crosses atlantic, crossing ocean is NOT 24 hour patrolling international waters, South African navy has no OPV fleet for 24 hours round the clock patrolling of international waters, 3 of your 4 Valour frigates engines has already broken down, your navy has no maritime security capability long range ! Davit system ? What da fvck ! Nigeria has hundreds of those Davit system kinda tiny rubber or fibre glass boats, yet we bought many Shaldag ocean interceptors because those rubber dinghy boats are mere toys when blue water action starts. Those your Valour frigates useless Davit sytem launch only tiny toy rubber inflatable dingy or fibre boats that cannot carry cannon/main gun, cannot carry radar, cannot carry night vision ocean imagers, cannot survive alone in high sea because a windy wave will overflow it with water and sink it killing all your sailors, cannot climb into a pirate ship that is the size of an oil tanker, cannot fight pirates that have rifles aboard a big ship, it can even be overran by a small fishing trawler made of steel and all your sailors will sink and drown to death, it cannot carry fuel for more than few hours before it's tiny out-board motor tank runs dry and your sailors stranded in high sea where shark will eventually eat up all those South African navy men including @Andrewza.... South African navy is a wishy washy piece of joke, reason why you are now realizing your weakness and desperate to buy a big stealth OPV and MPV like Nigeria, but South Africa has no money, except you auction some of your bank loan purchased useless submarines tomorrow ! . Patchesagain:hey, clerk boy!!! Digest this......... That's not all. The other submarine was rendered useless after they plugged in the AC into the DC: Maybe the naval technician who inserted the AC plug into SAS Manthatisi's DC socket, thereby blowing the R1.6 billion submarine's fuses, was absent-mindedly thinking about sex at the time, or about politics, or about music. http://www.iol.co.za/blogs/john-scott-1.2499/ac-dc-is-enough-to-make-anyone-blow-his-submarine-fuses-1.1001701#.VIWLDtKUfX8 Here's the story about the submarine being used as an ocean driller by another IQ 67 as a The SAS Queen Modjadji, named after South Africa's rain queen who lived in Limpopo, struck the ocean floor while conducting training exercises between Port Elizabeth and Durban last week. http://www.timeslive.co.za/local/2012/08/12/not-one-of-the-r8-billion-arms-deal-submarines-is-operational The third high-tech submarine has been in dry-dock for years after "mishaps". So, of the 3 submarines costing SA R8 BILLION, none are operational. Welcome to the new SA! |

Henry120: You want me to trace your T72 backwards for you. You do know the T72 was built has a simply cheaper to build down graded T64. The T64 then was replaced by the T80. Regardless it is a testament to the britsh team that designed the centurion. It was incredibly easy to modfie it. Right now only the hull is still that of a centurion. All so don't do, what is not brocken. You know the mg42 is still in use to this day, same has the Browning 12.7 and a host of other weapons. If you can get by with upgrading it all ways the better opstion. All so you know that the bren gun was used by the Brits in Falklands war. Your hate is blinding and prevents any really debate. |

The Cameroonian piece of shiit is manufactured to be a gun only armed IFV of 1940s world war II configuration. Naija cruises around in BTR-4E configured to carry missiles. lezz: Well there is a shortage it because South Africa has been use the SANDF in contradiction of the previous defence review. Under the old review we where not to deploy beyond the border or conduct border patrols. Both are being done. South Africa is vastly better run than Nigeria. I mean the SANDF is a low priority for SA yet it gets the same budget has a massive Nigerian military in a war time setting. Question is what did you sacrifice. |
