Can u pls help me to upload your solution.The former is not clear. agentofchange1:I have £=-1 in the solution with me but is just complicated. |

Pls Nairalanders help me to solve this question.Find the value of alpha(i will use pound symbol)£ for which the following equation possesses solutions> x-3y+2z=4 2x+y-z=1 3x-2y+z=£(alpha) A friend solved it and gave me the following answers. z=7,y=2,x=-4,alpha=-1.But is workings are complicated.I have made an attempt but i am hooked at reducing echelon matrix. |
Re: Nairaland Mathematics Clinic by agentofchange1(m): 2:09pm On Feb 23, 2015 |
Onase: hmm. no bro..those values don't satisfy the equations Check putting x=-4 , y=2 , z=7 for eqn1 , -4-3(2)+2(7)=-4-6+14= =4 .....(eqn 1 satisfied) for eqn 2, 2(-4)+2-7 =-8+2-7=-13=/=1 (eqn2 not satisfied) for eqn3, 3(-4)-2(2)+7=-12-4+7=-9=/=-1(eqn3 not satisfied) it must satisfy all . here , check my solution , the values are x=1 , y=-1 , z=0 & £=5 Check for eqn1, 1-3(-1)+0=1+3=4 (eqn1 satisfied) for eqn2 2(1)+(-1)+0=2-1 =1 (eqn2 satisfied) for eqn3 , 3(1)-2(-1)+0=3+2=5.(eqn3 satisfied) that's it man . pix below. |

Hello, pls, help solve this algebra.. I'm very confused. if x=(p+q)⅓+(p-q)⅓ and r=(p²-q²)½ prove that x³-3rx=2p |
Re: Nairaland Mathematics Clinic by agentofchange1(m): 6:40pm On Feb 23, 2015 |
randwise: OK check the 2nd eqn I think it ought to be ^1/3. not ^1/2 ********Solution ************ proof: x=(p+q)1/3 +(p-q)1/3 r=(p2 -p2 )1/3 r=(p+q)1/3 *(p-q)1/3 set a=(p+q)1/3 & b=(p-q)1/3 => x=a+b & r=ab now LHS, x3 -3rx => (a+b)3 -3ab(a+b) => a3 + b3 thus we have , [(p+q)1/3 ]3. +[(p-q)1/3 ]3 =p+q+p-q 2p ...............(as required ) |

benji93:this isnt mathematics but a riddle.. Obviously, there are three guys involved.. The son, the father and the grandfather.. i.e the two fathers are the father and the grandfather. the 2 sons are the father and the son..since the father is stil a son to the grandfather.. Therefore, they will have one bottle each.. Good morning my ogas here |

Pls guys help with this . ytan xdy/dx = (4+y^2) sec^2x |
Re: Nairaland Mathematics Clinic by agentofchange1(m): 12:15pm On Feb 25, 2015 |
DeeCherry: OK dear in a bus now...let's sha . using separable variables, => dy /dx = (4+y^2)(sec^2 x)/(ytanx) => dy/dx =(sec^2 x)/(tanx) * (4+y^2)/y => ydy/(4+y^2) = (1/cos^2 x)/(tanx)dx now take integral of both sides guess you finish up from dia... right .? 1 Like |
