If 5 oranges cost N1.2,
den 1 orange would cost N(1.2/5) =N0.24

since he bought 100 oranges,
the C.P would be 100 x 0.24 = N24

Now since 20 oranges got spoilt, he could only sell 80 oranges.

He then sold 4 for N1.50, which means one would cost N(1.50/4) = N0.375

so the S.P of 80 organges would be 80 x N0.375 = 30

so we got;
C.P = N24
S.P = N30
so Gain = N30 - N24 = N6

%gain = gain/C.P x 100%
= 6/24 x 100%
= 1/4 x100%
= (100/4)%
= 25% gain



so the correct option is (25% gain) B

A trader has three kinds of birds for sale @ the following quantities and rates:
20 pigeon goes for #1
1 parrot for #1; and
1 peacock for #5 respectively.

if you have to buy 100 birds in total for #100. How many numbers of each bird would you buy?

Hahahaha, funny you. At least you got the answer. It is just that I am naturally analytical. Being analytical helps to resolve more easily, complex stuffs and get s you all the available marks grin.It works like magic!

5=N1.20 and 100=X. Cross multiplying, X=N24. There4 cost price =24. Also 20 got spoilt remaining 80 with selling price of N1.50 per 4. So actual SP=N1.50*80/4=30. Gain= S.P-C.P=N30-N24=N6. %gain=gain/c.p*100%=N6/24*100%=25%
