About five of my friends are getting married this year and I'm totally broke. I can't even afford to buy a suit not to talk of contributing any amount towards the preparation for the wedding.
Honestly, I'm totally confused, because I know I'll serve as a groom's mate to at least 3 of the weddings.
I'm currently running my Msc program which has rendered me almost 'dimelss'. I'd to look up to my parents for food & other things.
Please Nairalanders, supposing you're in my situation, what would you do?. Or if you've ever experienced this kind of situation, how did you manage it? .

sure it won't but it MIGHT reduce your ego/dignity(can't find the right word) even before the bride herself. Running some errands is ok for me but washing plates and sweeping...taaa! Maybe because is isn't my thing, dunno about the OP tho

I think the point buygala is trying to make is that, I can still make myself useful in other non-financial ways and I think that's a great idea. I may not necessarily be involved in washing of plates but there are other things I can do.

U must not kil ur self over ds. Do wat u hav 2 do within ur capability. If de understand wt u de may take d burden off u.

I totally understand the ego part (I'm a lady). They are your friends, explain your situation to them. Some may even decide to get you a suit to wear and if not, u can help out with the groomsmen's duties, like helping in throwing a bach eve, help when going to get stuffs for the wedding, you can be his emotional support, coz plaNning a wedding can be a stressful process. Just be there for them in whatever way you can. I was in the same situation once, I followed the bride everywhere, to get her gown,bridesmaids outfits, her personal belongings, book the decorator and I was always available whenever she needed to talk or was confused about a particular thing (thanks to my wedding planning skills).
