Contrary to views expressed by Dakuku Peterside, Rivers State APC Governorship Candidate during an interview with media chiefs in Lagos at the weekend, the people of Rivers State have wholeheartedly rejected Dakuku Peterside, Rotimi Amaechi and their unproductive APC.

This fact has been expressed by the people all through the 23 local government areas, the markets, the streets, the development associations, non indigenes, women and youth groups.

The voice of the people cannot be silenced by a few minutes of paid interview with media executives in Lagos as the people of Rivers State have lined up behind the Wike-Banigo ticket.

Unfortunately for APC, their candidate is a stooge to the non-performing outgoing governor Rotimi Amaechi who has woefully failed the Rivers people in all sectors.

Peterside’s regrettable declaration during the paid interview session that he will continue with the failed legacies of outgoing Governor Amaechi is the principal reason why he has been rejected.

Amaechi has the unenviable legacy of being the most corrupt and extravagant governor in the history of Nigeria, Rivers people have vowed not to allow this cesspool of corruption to continue. Therefore, they have shut the door against Dakuku.

Amaechi is footing the bills of the APC Presidential Candidate while denying Rivers State development in all 23 LGAs, hence the people of Rivers State have rejected APC and Peterside on this ground as they will not allow a continuation of this anomaly.

Amaechi, Dakuku’s political godfather is the master of fictitious projects and abandoned projects used to line pockets of APC chieftains. The people of Rivers State have taken a decision to vote against APC because they will not allow this ugly Amaechi legacy to continue under Dakuku.
It is true that APC has deep pockets from the proceeds of their mass corruption in Rivers State. This can only buy them air-time on electronic media, presence on social media and pages of newspaper interviews. This will never translate to votes. Everywhere in Rivers State, the people are with Barrister Wike, President Jonathan and the PDP.

No amount of lies and propaganda can save the APC from the impending thrashing at the polls. This is about development and capacity, which Barrister Wike and Dr Mrs. Banigo have in abundance backed by the overwhelming acceptance of the people.

When APC leaders sent their thugs to unleash unprecedented violence on Barrister Wike when he campaigned at Abua/Odual LGA at the Palace of the Traditional Ruler, leading to the death of four youths with several party supporters injured, the people defied the ugly antics of the APC and participated in the rally. Since then, APC and their supporters have continued with their promotion of violence.

Political violence in Rivers state is purely the handiwork of Governor Amaechi, Dakuku Peterside and the APC. They stand condemned for attempting to use violence to distract the people ahead of the elections. The APC should have the courage to withdraw their forces of violence.

Barrister Wike is a man of peace and promotes peaceful electioneering process and will have nothing to do with violence.
As we head for the March 28 and April 11 polls, Dakuku Peterside and his associates must realize their resort to propaganda has already failed them. Barrister Wike remains the choice of the people of the state. He has been endorsed by people from all parts of the state. He won a keenly contested PDP primary while Dakuku Peterside was imposed on the APC by the failed outgoing Rivers State State. Dakuku must be told that he is an offspring of undemocratic process and can never win in a democratic contest.

As a man who stares defeat in the face, Dakuku can to continue with his self-delusion, but victory belongs to Barrister Wike and PDP.

The future of Rivers State cannot be mortgaged on the altar of extremely corrupt platform that hates development. It is PDP all the way.
