JoeCutie:
This is quite impressive. A rare nice gesture.
But then there are FOUR major reasons why she could do that.

1.) Good heart.
She's good by nature. She's intrinsically good, and effortlessly too. Taking the money would taunt her good heart for a very long time and she couldn't afford that.

2.) Fear of being caught.
The money had been forgotten/left/lost before she saw it, I know. But then if it was later realized that she saw and bundled in such a huge amount of money, the story would have changed. It could cost her her job, you know? C'mon, this is Naija. They would have given it so many silly interpretations. She wouldn't want this, so the easiest thing was to return it.

3.) Ignorance (or better put, confusion).
For a woman-cleaner to be on a #7,500 a monthly salary? Oh, don't tell me she's one of those people that finished from school and then...no job. No. She didn't go to school. Okay, possibly. She wouldn't know how to use this money. At first, she would be confused and in total shock - in awe of the huge amount of money she's seen. So the only option would be to return this money...and be at peace with herself.

4.) Fame.
And this she's got. Before she started work, she must have been oriented as to what's expected of her. The code and conduct of her work. Again, she would have heard stories about people who returned money, how they were rewarded and consequently, became famous. That their doors opened too. She couldn't afford to miss this chance - because she knew, or rather, she was convinced that she would be settled for this. She equally thought about the prospect of her life changing for the better, with this opportunity. She couldn't miss this opportunity. Now, she's famous. The owner of the money she returned would undoubtedly, reward her. The airport authorities might (or rather, should) reward her. And now, the Lagos state house of assembly is planning to honour her. You see...Government Money! grin

Finally, she did what she did because of either or all of the above reasons. But whatever be the case, she's a woman with a golden heart. She deserves all the recognitions she's getting, and even more. We need more of her type in this country.

If it were me, I would do exactly what she did. Yes, I would return the money. Not because I'm a good guy, but because I know that there would be a reward. Again, because I know that God is watching. I'm just being honest here. smiley

God bless Nigeria.

The Philosopher! smiley

How you critically, meticulously, philosophically and intelligently analyse points is a joy to see. It's a clear work of a philosopher; I'm not surprised.

After reading this, I couldn't help but agree in toto with you. Nice and salient points. smiley

... was the six months the longest strike so far?? are u aware of the 8months strike, during obj regime that led to d 7months strike of Gej administration. but the good new is, Gej has surpass everyother president cos records holds he's the first ever president that have disbust such huge amount for Assu... u know what N20bn is?? plz give kudos to Gej joor..
Your comment has shown how poor your capacity to remember things are. The penultimate long strike our Universities' teachers embarked as a result of the ASUU-FG face off wasn't during OBJ's regime, Dude. It was during Yar'Adua's govt in 2009 and the clueless GEJ chaired the FG delegation to that meeting. The strike lasted 4months and not 8months as you claimed.
You also stated that GEJ has disbursed 20bn to the Universities, please I urge you to make out time to visit any of our Universities nearest to you and find out if there's any commensurate improvement in infrastructure. The same level of corruption that is synonymous with GEJ and his government, has been replicated in the said Universities disbursed sum and nobody has the morale compass to ask the necessary questions regarding how the funds are spent.
We can't continue like this, Dude. Our generations unborn would be unhappy with us if we do. GEJ has taken corruption to whole new dimension in the land.
I recall the corruption level that greeted the 2nd republic and when compared to GEJ's govt., that of the 2nd republic is only but a child's play.
May GOD deliver us from the clutches of GEJ and his inept leadership.

Vote wisely.

Other than for a dubious, illegal or bribery transaction, I wonder what someone would be doing with 12M cash @ the airport in this era of cashless policy.
My dear if you're not a born again Christian then that your gesture is invalid, but if otherwise, I wonder for how long u want to continue to wash n clean rest rooms at the airport. Cos the Nigeria you're in, people get to forget good deeds easily, heroes n heroine etc!
I weap for u but still I am not doubting the work of God, he alone can raise the mighty from dust bin and he alone remains faithful despite our unfaithful ways.
I wanna be 12M naira richer die...If I hear!!

She had to work for 1600 months on a salary of #7500 to earn 12 mil... In other words, if she worked for 133.3 years, she wud have barely earned that amount.
God forbid say I return such money... grin

According Late Prof. Dora Akunyili, "We have only two types of people in Nigeria - the good people and the bad people." the ethnic bigot needs to understand that! if this is a case of 419 everyone on this forum would have noticed that she is Igbo. Now this is an Igbo lady acting good and exemplary with respect to money.

Good people, great nation.... God bless Nigeria #OnlyinNigeria

Am sure she did nt knw it was money. About the salary #7500? I cnt bliv dis. She earns dat and can still make up and wear fashionable cloth. Ask mizmycoli, and nairaland babe to estimate the cost of her cosmetics, then you know am saying d raw truth. Wel sha good for her.
But if she take it away is that corruption or stealing. Gej has the answer. Lolz...
One of my neighbours works as cleaner in the airport. She told me that they usually make money everyday cos when they assist travellers with their loads, some may tip them 3k 5k 4k depending on the passanger's'generousity. According to her, a traveller onced asked her what she wanted and she simply said anything sir, the dude dashed her 10k. Because they have ID card as cleaners, it becomes easier for them to do the job unlike other unlicenced worker who are usually chased by task force. In a nutshell, she can afford the dress and make up judging by my neigbour's'explanation.

THATS RIGHT. thats how i know i wont lose it cos i need it. Have u ever move around with your whole savings and forgot it somewhere or left it unattended. No? We only do that with loose change, money much less than what we had in a bank.

That's so nice and kind of her. About her earning 7,500 per month, I'm not sure about that. She looks too good and well dressed to be earning such. By the way the minimum wage should be about 18,000 if I'm correct.
