We know our commission and tithing is one of our gateway but denying someone a job because he/she doesn't tithe is absurd.

Our tithes doesn't bless God, it blesses us. That's the business owner's believe. If any employee is to work with me, if he hasn't been paying title before, he must start. But I won't disqualify him/her cos he hasn't been paying title.

I got an interview invitation last Friday with one newly established company around Airport road, Rukpoku, Port Harcourt(name withheld). I was over-qualified, and I answered their questions perfectly, but what shocked me was when the interviewer asked me what church i attended.

I proudly answered "Catholic". His facial expression changed and he said "whoever doesn't pay tithe can hinder the growth of a company."

He even tried backing his statement with biblical quotations.I was very shocked so I can't even remember all the crap he said.

I brought this here to tell Nairalanders what religion has turned our people into.

Unfortunately the same goes for firms owned by catholics. They in most cases won't give jobs to non catholics. Such a pity.

yeah I'm Catholic too. all Catholic churches collect tithe. doesn't vary with parish as we are all one.

The ones that even do, started not too long ago, it wasn't in the doctrines of the catholic church to pay tithe, they just couldn't see their pentecostal and other counterparts prosper from tithing extortion, without doing nothing, so they joined.

This is a result of poor governance in the country. If the country was okay, we would not be so divided on issues like religion, tribe, federal school graduate or state school, University or Polytechnic, who do you know, where do you stay etc. We need to pray and vote for better leaders.

Biblical tithing is not a scam ..its a way of honoring God ..the issue we have here is tithing to the wrong or fake church or pastor ..i personally will not tithe into a church am not sure of ..unfortunately we have a lot scammy churches that are using the non payment of tithe to put people in Bondage . God still loves you either you pay tithe or not ..his love is not tithe dependent ...any father is happy when they are honored .. eventhough they love their children unconditionally ... but children that honor their father are wise ..and thats what tithe is all about . Jesus never asked anyone tithe before he delivered or healed them ..

It will affect the business owner ma. Remember Eli and his sons. Eli didn't offend God, his sons brought God's anger upon him cos he's the custodian ( Eli) of his home. So as the business owner is the custodian of his company.

Let op give more information like the name of the establishment and if possible the name of the interviewer, I don't see what the purpose of this thread if op is still shielding the people or person who made such an assertion.
