mevisbleek: Not saying its not possible but you make it all sound so easy bro. I currently work in this industry not in drilling or service rig though... How many guys can even pass the physical demand test (talking about the one where heartbeat rate is monitored) not to mention all the oil field tickets required (cost money) + class 5 non gdl license and a very good car preferably a truck since drilling season is at the peak of winter not usually during summer school holidays. You know alot of roads to drilling rigs are closed by the government in summer. To also drive water tanker/swamp, one would still need at least a class 3 license (cost about $1500 just for the training and one would even be lucky to pass the test at the first trial) + 3-5 years abstract.. . All these cost money which an average student might not even be able to afford. I already mentioned the best student summer holiday job in Alberta where all Africans rush to but it obviously flew above some people's head. once they hear oil rig they forget about all other things. lol. That's why I said with the brutal weather up northern Alberta and driving on highway 63 join in the peak of winter (rare for company to fifo laborers even before the fall in oil price).. so it's really not for the faint hearted. Infact, anyone interested should head off to Edmonton instead of red deer....since there are more drilling contractors close to Edmonton. I wish them goodluck in their quest to fort Mcmoney Would be also nice if you can also give a budget before anyone heads out west or up north to land that rig job. 2 Likes 1 Share |

audreypatrick20: Hi, it's a bit tricky but let's look at it this way; Did you get the visa more than 7 months ago? Do you have someone in Canada? Do you have a letter from a doctor in Nigeria with details of your medical condition? Are you financially buoyant? |

Good day house. Please I need a couple of advices . I completed my BSc in Elect/Electronics engineering with a 2.2 in the year 2007 and a masters in Engineering Management (2014/2015) both in Nigeria. I want to migrate to canada but confused either to apply for a diploma in any of the canadian polyphonic since my first degree grade is not a 2.1 or apply to any of the schools that offers post graduate diploma not minding the courses. I intend applying for instrumentation Engineering Technology but do not know if it will be marketable in canada or do I apply for electrical engineering technology. Also will my current age of 32 b a deciding factor. Please I need advice. Thanks |
