In a leaked document titled "Proposal for a power sharing government",exclusively obtained by reporters,the president proposes amongst others:
"The creation of the office of a prime minister to be headed by him while GMB acts as the president overseeing the ministries of foreign affairs,defence,economy,whereas the PM oversees those of the petroleum ministry,Niger delta and agriculture.All other portfolios are to be shared on a 40-60 basis (pm-president)"
"A guarantee of immunity from prosecution for all appointees under the incumbent president from 2010 till assumption of a new government"
" The creation of an office of the wife of the prime minister"
The proposed power sharing government is for an initial period of 4yrs.Subsequently elections wud be held for the office of the president while that of the PM is to be chosen from the main opposition party after confirmation from a joint session of both assemblies.
The APC leadership is to hold an emergency enlarged executives meeting to consider the proposal,but sources within the party claim the hawks within the party have outrightly rejected the idea,being confident of a Buhari victory at the polls,while the minority moderates are said not to be averse to the idea but with some moderations.
Meanwhile a large segment of the Nigerian society spread round the geopolitical zones,after the widespread leakage of the document and the consideration by the APC of it,have expressed disapproval and feel betrayed by the APC.They vowed never to trust politicians again and never to participate in any electoral process in future,having sacrificed so much to see a change in government and the promise of a better Nigeria under a Buhari led APC government.[/b]
