Cooking is like carrying out an experiment with which you will definitely come out with a result (either good or bad). As a good cook, you would have paid your dues to 'burnt offerings', salty/peppery food e.t.c before becoming the Master Chef you are today... Growing up, I remembered preparing Moi-moi as a surprise dinner for my parents... I peeled like 2 congos of beans and packaged it in just 4 nylons...#LOL... Dem no born two people well make dem finish one wrap... When I served my Dad, he was surprised cos the moi-moi was so hard and it was looking like a very big stone in the plate... I also remembered when av not mastered how to prepare semo; OMG! I always boil plenty water and later divide it into two pots (as a quick alternative)... I do this in case there are big lumps in the semo... Na to quickly pour the whole content in the pot inside a black nylon and throw it in the dustbin before anyone comes... These are the period I always volunteer to empty the dustbin... #LMAO My cousin told me about an incident whereby she prepared one nice vegetable and egusi soup... While waiting to serve her parents, she just discovered the pepper where she kept it... Cos her parents were already at the dinning table and to avoid reprimands, she quickly pour the raw pepper in the stew and serve her parents like that... She said I need to see the way they were drinking water that day... #LMAO All these experiences make us the better cook we are today... Please, you are free to add yours... #Cheers 37 Likes 5 Shares |

I remember preparing moi moi once 4 my bf from home to take to him. After gathering ingredients ( fish , crayfish, egg and all). I made a silly mistake. Didn't add groundnut oil to the blended mixture. The moi moi came out good oh but u could still tell it had no oil. He just said pls stop saying you prepared moi moi it's ekuru. I wondered what that meant. Funny I tried to warm it again and was so busy I forgot n d water dried and the plate started shrinking. 5 Likes 1 Share |

SisiNini: Lol that day u just need to see the expressions and he was like. It's not bad 4 an ekuru tho! My moi moi has always been a disaster. Only once it came out fine. When I was still in school, I peeled d beans n left and went to grind it. The mom was so busy n the dude did the grinding instead. When I got home the beans was so poor I could still see bean fragments in it. And the moi moi came out looking rough. My roommate couldn't laugh. We just managed it cos of the tuna fish that was in it. The shame was so much that day when the guys from d other room was laughing. One of the guys who was our close pal came and we offered it to him. He was about taking it out to eat in d room when we both shouted " tayo, abeg chop am 4 here" he just kept laughing but still ate it and said it was good. You know guys will eat anything. 11 Likes 1 Share |

candygosh: I can imagine the embarrassment... Lol... Yes o, guys can eat anything (poison) and still pretend that all is well... While in school, I prepared 'jollof' spaghetti and served my guy... Instead of him to say he doesn't like spaghetti, he kept eating and his facial expressions continued to change the more he ate the food... I asked him if he doesn't like d food, he said the food is delicious and super... Not until he started using bread to eat the spaghetti that I felt so sad... A while after eating, he vomitted the spag and the bread... #Lol... Preparing custard in a cup always disgrace me... D tin will neva form unless I put it on a burner... Na so so river niger ooo... Not until my elder bro taught me... 15 Likes 1 Share |

SisiNini: Lmao @ the custard...i can imagine and it's even worse if it has lumps. The trick is just add enough water n ensure its not flowing(less viscous ) from the start and once the hot water starts getting into it stirr fast so the hot water is evenly distributed into the starch Even if it doesn't look thick after adding hot water just cover up for a few seconds. I have had my better days with ogi and custard but now I hardly flaw it. One doesn't become a pro overnight 4 Likes |

Mine was the worse I guess on earth, it happened way back when I was in jss 3(yr 1999) as I reach house no food, I went to the kitchen boiled beans for like 10mins then the put oil on fire to heat then added the beans and salt and the result was disaster but I still eat am o. 7 Likes 1 Share |
