Interpretation please, wat is epithelial though she was told there is nothing wrong.

It is normal. What is this? A Pap smear or just a vaginal smear?

Epithelial cells are normal cell findings in the vagina.

HELP MY EYES PLEASE
Ok doctors in the house, I have a problem. My eyesight has been going bad of late. During my industrial attachment (two years ago), I did a bit or maybe a lot of computer programming. I spent very long hours on the computer screen, staring at the screen and debugging programs. As time went on, I noticed that I really needed to focus on the screen to really read the characters. It seemed the glare was becoming disturbing. but no, I didn’t relent as I continued using my laptop, eyes fixed to screen. The disturbance continued so I devised a kind of way to reduce the glare, more like using a shady materials on my eyes. Now I didn’t really know whether it was still the glare stuff or whether my eyes have got some complications. It felt alright though since it didn’t affect or disturb me during the day or when I do other things (lest I forget I read thongs in close proximity, not like I am short sighted (or maybe I am a bit, but it does not affect me. I read ewll without glasses.) its become more like a habit).
Well programming and using the laptop is one way I survive so I cant possibly stop it. Now the real problem is that the condition has worsened. Ok even if I spend five minutes with the laptop, I feel my eyes are falling off. Everything seems as a bright source of light. I lessened if not stopped my use of the laptop and decided to make do with my phone since it does not disturb me while using my phone. Gradually and gradually the phone too became a problem. Now even ordinary papers! I just cant focus and it feels like the pressure in my eye socket is building up. And all I feel like doing is to sleep or close my eyes. But even then I cant really initiate sleep and closing my eyes is now not even a remedy. I get mild headaches at times too. And now when I focus I tend to blink or squint out tears. My eyesight used to be keen and un-disturbing. I didn’t even need a reading glass. I have seen a doctor who told me to buy an eye drop and referred me to another hospital. I have bought the eye drop but I am yet to see the doctor of the new hospital. Please doctors in the house, is this problem common? Does it have a name? will my eyesight get better? Will I need a reading glass or an anti glare glass? Do laptops have special glasses? Will I eventually need an operation? Mean while how should I manage this?

I seriously want to get better? I would be useless without these eyes. Pleeease answer me.

This seme*n analysis is very abnormal. For one, it has many pus in it meaning there is an infection. This infection needs to be treated; that's likely what the augmentin was given for. Augmentin is an antibiotics, but I really wonder if it is the right antibiotics for the kind of infection I suspect.

I recommend that you seek a urologist that specializes in male infertility, get the seme*n culture and have the pus analyzed for the type of organism in it and treat it appropriately with the proper antibiotics.

Right now, much of his sperm is non functional. This will likely improve the sperm analysis once infection successfully treated and hopefully, fertility.

Good luck

Provided your medical history is non-significant, I suspect this may be computer vision syndrome. Often occur in people with your type of occupation who glares at screen all day. Good news, there are things you can do to reduce or lessen this since you cannot quit your profession. The issue is if you can afford them.

Recommendations: first see a GP and rule out common medical issues; check your thyroid hormone (T4), blood glucose levels, and your blood pressure. Second, get a simple eye exam from your GP. Thirdly; have her refer you to an opthamologist or optometrist and get a specialized computer vision screening test. I will tell you that worse case scenario is a glaucoma based on what you have said so far, but I suspect not. But, rule it out by seeing an eye specialist at least

There are anti glare screen for your lap tops and special computer screen glasses and ergonomically suitable thing you can do to reduce your condition; if you can afford them.

Here's a website for your to navigate about more information on computer eye strain; see their Q/A section to answer some of your questions: http://www.allaboutvision.com/cvs/

Best.

Xiadnat God bless you so much for your answers. i would see an opthamologist on monday. you could be right about the BP stuff, as i could most times feel the heavy racing of my heart or the "dancing" of my veins. but i am only 23. i should be able to bring feedback after 2moro's encounter. i just pray they be able to diagnose well. and another thing, it has seemingly transcended beyond comp stuff. it has affected my normal eyesight and my daily dealings too. Thanks once again.
And oh yes, as for thyriod, swallowing used to be a big problem. still persists though. and i feel great pressure on my goitre/adams apple/neck. and some other minor complaints.

i suppose GP means? . . . . thanks.

It is very possible to have an STI and NOT show symptoms. The only way to satisfactory show that she doesn't have any infection is to get an STI screening. She needs to go to her GP and specifically ask for STI screening that includes chlamydia and gonorrhea, and then HIV or syphilis can be thrown in additionally. The fact that she is itching is symptom enough.

Unless, this fluid analysis is a lab mix up, there's definitely an infectious process going on. The proper treatment needs to be started empirically while awaiting culture from fluid.

Sure thing. GP is your regular general practice doctor. RE: racy heart: do you drink or take caffeinated products? 23 is quite young for heart issues unless inclined familial. Might want to have your doctor do a heart exam on you as well. Perhaps, get baseline ECG.

Hmm...Definitely get a thyroid hormone checked. That makes sense in light of the visual complaints and your racing heart. I suspect that you are in fact hyperthyroid, if that is the case, you need to start treatment- which will help your eye sight too.

Your next priority after the optho visit is to get a thyroid function tests.

Ineffective treatment. You are getting relapse from release of parasites from the liver.

Malaria infects both the liver and the red blood cells. The liver is the reservoir for malaria parasites.

The lumartem treats only the red blood cells affected by the parasites. It doesn't treat those hiding out in the liver.

What happens is when you take lumartem, you kill off parasites in the blood stream. BUT, soon after, the parasites in the liver are still replicating and releasing parasites into the blood stream from the liver. Hence, the febrile cycle.

In other words, you need something that will kill off the parasites stored in the liver. Primaquine is an anti-malarial that targets liver.

Add PRIMAQUINE TO LUMARTEM. Try that and let me know how it goes.
I got to a big pharmacy shop in Nigeria and asked for primaquine, they said they never heard of a drug by that name. What you said is true cos I read about primaquine online. Maybe there is another brand name for it here. Any help?

Oh that sucks. I only know this drug by its generic name. I don't even think it has a brand name.

You probably need to go visit your doctor and have her prescribe it---your doc might have better idea of the equivalent in Nigeria.

I will refer you to this website with equivalent of primaquine in india; see if Nigerian's pharmacy recognizes any of those.

Good luck. I will keep looking for possible equivalents for Nigeria.

Ok. Go to you pharmacist and ask for this one: Amodiaquine. Should probably get Rx for it though. It is suppose to be same thing as primaquine used widely in Africa. Also try: Camoquin, Flavoquine

Doctors in the house, what could cause someone to suffer from paralysis that will make the person not to be able to get up to go and pee unless the person is carried to the toilet, the person will now pee on the bed, if help didn't come on time. Also, the person will be talking like someone that just had a stroke(like the tongue is twisted or cleft) but after a few minutes, the person will start getting himself. Its like a daily occurrence now

IS this sudden paralysis or gradual onset?

Nevertheless, take him/her to a primary care doctor and get a proper exam and referral to neurologist for a thorough neurological exam. .

Paralysis can be due to cerebrovascular accident (stroke), autoimmune disease, neurological disease like ALS, GBS, infectious like polio.

Point is; she needs some imaging probably MRI of her brain and spinal cord. Do this ASAP.

Good luck.

Hello Doc,

Nice work you're doing here.

Please, what could be the reason behind an increase in heartbeat? I think my heart beat faster than normal. Though, I visited my school medical centre and complained to the doctor who prescribe some drugs which I have completed dosage but still can't notice any obvious improvement.

Also, I sometimes feel this vibrating/shocking movement around my body particularly around my legs and hand mostly at night before sleeping.

What test will you recommend I carry-out.

Thanks as I await your profesionally reply.

Don't get too worried about the comprehensiveness of my post. This could be as simple as anxiety/stress. I think you notice it more at night, because your mind is somewhat less occupied by other stuff; so you focus more on your symptoms.

Due to the description of fast heart beat, I would get thyroid function tests above anything else first. (TSH and T4). Fast heart beat can be as benign as taking too much stimulant: caffeine, cocaine/meth or heart disease/arrythmia or metabolic: low or hi thyroid levels. What is the name of drug that was given for fast heart beat?

Answer these:
Age (or range)?
Medical Hx, anxiety/depression?
Other symptoms: numbness, tingling?
Are there any stressors in your life right now?
How long you have had it, onset?
Where do you live?
Are you aware of any possible exposure to heavy metals like copper, lead, mercury?
When you say worse at night, you mean while sleeping in bed or?
What mediations do you or did you take?

This is a paresthesia of some kind.

Things it could be: neuropathy (nerve damage), anxiety/stress/depression, thyroid dysfunction, medication side effect, heavy metal poison, autoimmune disease, MS.

Recommendation:
1. See a GP: obtain blood work for CBC, blood glucose levels, Thyroid function test (TSH), Vitamin B6 and Vitamin B12 levels, HIV.

Start there first. You could report back if you like. Then, can proceed to next steps depending on result.

Next step: MRI, EMG or nerve studies. Add lead levels as well.

Take care.

70kg. Only hepatoxicity seems to be the most dreaded. Since it has related chemical structure with chloroquine, will chloroquin-resistant strains of P.falciparum not be resistant to it?

When it's just one event for your acca to click, being overwhelmed by the thought of a disease called akinalabi which is happily ready to send you to a grave called villareal grave, then your heart tends to beat faster.

That is a really good question actually. I see you have been reading. I like that. Good for you. Let me address your concerns.

First, amodiaquine drug has similar chemical structure to chloroquine, but it is not the same. That makes a huge difference in terms of resistance.

Secondly, resistance depends on the location. If your location is known for high resistance to chloroquine, then this drug will be less effective; not ineffective however. Meaning, it still works. I will look up resistance of chloroquine in Nigeria.

Thirdly, despite studies that show some resistance in some countries, amodiaquine is still considered highly effective and still is recommended as the first line treatment for malaria either solo or in combination with other anti-malarias.

Bottom line: you could still benefit from it. Re: hepatotoxicity: I think that if you are generally young and healthy with no predisposing liver issues, then you will likely be okay. And, keep to a minimum of 3 days and see what happens. If febrile illness continues, then time to visit an infectious disease doctor.

Take care.

Are you in the tropical region? As in are you in Nigeria? Isn't it hot right now over there in NIgeria?

If it is heat rash, I suggest to leave it be. If you are breaking out in hives because of something you applied on yourself, ate etc, then find out what it is and avoid it. If it itches, can apply topical hydrocortisone, but leave it alone.
