PREMIERE: He sat there, in the front seat of the same bus he had been boarding for the past three days, pondering on the decision he had had to make recently. He kept wondering if it was the right one or maybe he had made a colossal error he would regret for the rest of his later life. He looked out the window, and then looked back in towards the rear of the bus and wondered why the bus wasn’t filling up as quickly today like it had in the past few days. “Where are all the regular passengers?”, he thought to himself. Feeling his stomach starting to make rumbling noises, he figured no harm in getting a snack for the road. He called out to the woman hawking beef rolls and ‘minerals’ “Madam, abeg give me two Gala and one bottle of Sprite.” The woman handed over the goods, and then he paid, and the woman handed him his change. “Thank you, Oga”, she said. Starting to wonder why the bus still hadn’t filled up, he heard the whistle sound that was the alert of his S3, thinking it was one random WhatsApp or ChatOn message, he ignored it for the mean time. Breaking chunks of the Gala in his hand and stuffing his mouth with it, he poured some of that cold Sprite down his throat and almost instantly, the rumbling stomach seemed to have been appeased. Who could blame the stomach anyway? He hadn’t fed the stomach all day. As soon as he was about finishing the Sprite, the driver came into the bus and he heard the sliding door of the rear of the bus close. That signified they were about to leave the park and start on the journey heading home. He fished his phone out of his pocket, to plug in his earphones to drown out the sounds – the two excited girls behind him talking about the hunk that was just employed at their office, the women at the girls’ back debating whether Pampers or Huggies was better for their respective toddlers, a man telling the woman beside him to shift – around him, and that’s when he saw the envelope icon at the top of the screen signifying that he had an unread text message. He swiped down from the top of the screen, so he could view the notification, and therefore read the text. It was from Toyin, or TY, like she likes to be called. He hadn’t seen or heard from her since she said she wanted, no, needed an adventure. The text read, “Hey Chris, I know you’d be pissed, but I still remember where you keep your spare, so I’m letting myself in. See you when you get home. We’ve got a lot to talk about. TY xx” As soon as he was done reading, he breathed in sharply. He was so upset. Why did she come to him? Didn’t she have anywhere else to go? What happened to the “adventure”? She had broken his heart to smithereens. What did she want from him now? To make sure the small remaining pieces were ground into powder? With that stream of thought and consciousness, he remembered the day when he first saw her . . . She was a party girl, he was a party- sometimes-read-sometimes kind of guy. Naturally, academically, he was slightly better. They never would have met if not for the fact that his stupid course of study did not ask its students to borrow courses not just from another department but from another college entirely. What was his business with accounting? In what ways would that better his life? The classes were boring to say the least. The first two were unbearable. The third one, he purposely absented himself from the class, in other words, he ‘stabbed’ the class. And so did he the fourth, the fifth, and the sixth. On the day of the sixth class, the lecturer had said there was going to be a test in the next class. The students that were present did their due diligence and informed the ‘stabbers’ that there was going to be a test in the next class. 1 Like |

Following Chris Episode 2:On the eve of the day of the test, he got his materials and started studying and asking for help where he did not understand. When the time for the test came, he went into the hall mildly prepared and kept his fingers crossed. As the test was about to start, the lecturer wasn’t having the ‘formations’ the students had set, so he decided to have the class rearranged. Naturally, students from his college didn’t necessarily socialize from the students from her college. So it was a safe bet sitting the students by college. A student from the College of Science. A student from the College of Business. As fate would have it, they were both seated on the same long class chair. The lecture began distributing the questions and the people that received the questions at the front of the class, just put their hands on their heads and by the looks of it, the questions were really hard. By the time the questions eventually got to their table, he couldn’t see what the fuss was about. The questions weren’t all that difficult, and he just buried his head and started attempting the ones he could. There were six questions, they were to answer four. By the time he was done with the third question, and he was trying to figure out which he one he was going to attempt last based on his level of knowledge on each of them , he looked up to notice that the girl sitting beside him was not writing anything. “What’s the problem?”, he said in a very low voice. “I don’t know what to write”, she responded, whispering back. “How come?”, he asked. “I don’t know what to write”, she said, rolling her eyes at him. “Wait”, he murmured. He finally picked a question and started solving. After he was done, he picked another one and solved. He had answered 5 out of 6. He made sure he did an extra question so that they didn’t end up solving the exact same questions and when they were done he was going to cancel out the last one he solved. “Psst”, he called out to her, and then moved his answer sheet in such a way that she could see it. She looked towards him and she saw what he was doing. Not being a slacker herself, she started copying. She was very fast with her writing and within moments she was done copying. As soon as she was done, he turned the answer sheet back towards him and cancelled out the last question he had solved. He then made his way to submit. Looking behind him, she wasn’t far away as she too had stood up and wanted to submit as well. He submitted, and then went out of the room. She was right behind him and he kept walking towards the stairs to make his way back to his hostel room. He felt someone tap him. He turned, and that’s when he really saw her. Her hair was very shiny and black. It flowed in waves to adorn her glowing, light-brown skin. Her eyes, framed by long lashes, were a sparkling, aquamarine and seemed to brighten the world. The color in her eyes were from contact lenses, but it seemed so natural. A straight nose, full red lips. She had all the right curves in all the right places – she seemed the picture of perfection. You didn’t need to be Kodak to get the picture. “Aren’t you gonna let me say, ‘thank you’”, she said smiling, revealing a perfect set of white teeth. “It’s nothing”, he replied. “Don’t be modest. You did me one solid. I owe you one”, she replied. “OK then. Why don’t you give me your number and I’d think of a way you could thank me”, he said. “Give me your phone” He handed over his phone and she programmed her number in it. “Call me”, she said. With that, she turned and walked away swaying her hips from side to side. He just stood there, watching her leave. As she rounded a corner, he proceeded down the stairs and was on his way back to the hostel trying to figure out where he was going to take his girlfriend for her birthday. All thoughts of the pretty girl somewhat forgotten |

FOLLOWING CHRIS EPISODE 3:Planning Lola’s birthday bash was fun. What made it more fun was the fact that it was gonna be a surprise birthday bash, cant wait to see the excitement in her face when she sees it. Getting Sade, Blossom and Camille involved also added more fun to it. But the larger the circle got, the harder it was to keep the secret. Chris somehow managed it. He had been thinking of taking her to the same restaurant he had taken her for Valentine’s and he was particularly inclined to acquiesce to her request because she had fallen in love with the place and the food that she had actually marked a table as her favorite table. One evening, on his way back to the hostel from a personal errand he went to run, he saw Camille waiting at the bus stop trying to get a cab. He knew that by her dressing and her disposition, she was heading back to the school. He drove a little further from where she was and tooted the horn a little. When she didn’t realize he was actually waiting for her, he tooted the horn again. By this time, she looked up and saw the car and noticed that that was Chris’ car. She knew the car very well. It was the car that had taken to and from parties on countless occasions. She stopped talking to the cab driver she had managed to hail and started the little trek to where Chris was parked. She walked over to the passenger side on the right side and gently slid into the car. “Hey Chris”, she said. “Hey back. Where are you headed?”, he asked. “Duh”, she said and laughed. “I was just asking to confirm. You girls have lots of places to go to on your minds”, he retorted. “Ehn. I’m sha headed to school” She replied uninterested “All right. I’ll drop you off at the hostel.” Chris offered He looked on straight ahead as he backed out from where he had parked. He changed the music from the hardcore rap he had been listening to earlier to something a little lighter. For some reason, He and Camille never quite got along like the rest of Lola’s friends. Trying to make small talk, he asked where she had been coming from. “Oh that? I went to see one useless boy”, she replied. “Ahn ahn, how was he useless?”, he asked. “The stupid boy was trying to force himself on me. He didn’t even give me cab fare” She sounded pissed Stifling a chuckle, he said “How you come you went to his house if you don’t know him?” “I know him very well joor. We’ve been making out before but I was not ready for the do just yet” “Oh” Chris said faintly “What?”, she asked. “Nothing” Chris was not particularly struggling to understand why she had suddenly become a talkative that night. He had smelled it on her as she had entered the car. Although quite faint, the smell of alcohol was unmistakable, so she is sort of tipsy or at worse drunk. “So tell me, how come you weren’t ready to do the do with the guy?”, he asked trying to keep the idle chitchat going. “Maybe I was waiting for you to come and pop my cherry”, she said maintaining serious eye contact. “What?!”, he said swerving and braking so rapidly so he wouldn’t rear-end the car in front of him. “You heard me”, she retorted. It had to be the alcohol he thought to himself. Surely she couldn’t be saying all that he was hearing. He must be hearing things. He started moving again, this time, in silence. Just before they got to the school gate, he parked on a side street just so they could clear the air. “What do you mean you’re waiting for me to pop your cherry?”, he asked. “Exactly what the words mean”, she replied. “Jesus!”, he shouted. “You’re such a damn fool Chris. I waited and waited for you to notice me. The lights I was shining were brighter than cut emeralds, yet you didn’t see me”, she said “I didn’t know” “How could you? Then the next thing I know you started dating Lola. My best friend!”, she said almost sobbing “And. . . and Lola will keep asking me why you and I don’t seem to get along. If only she knew right?”, she said trying to smile but not quite making it. “You should’ve said something”, he said quietly. “And be taken for a desperate chick? Hell no!”, she retorted sharply. “It’s too late now, you know? I can’t be sneaking around. Besides, I can’t even cheat on Lola”, he said. “Don’t you think I know that?”, she replied. He leaned over and hugged her. He couldn’t give her what she wanted but at least he could comfort her. As he was pulling away from her, she held him tighter. “Please don’t leave me”, she said, “you must hate me now I’m sure. Please don’t hate me.” “I don’t hate you”, he said reassuring her, “let’s get you to your hostel.” He tried pulling away from her again. This time she let him pull away a little and then just when he was at arm’s length, she pulled him closer and kissed him full on the mouth. He tried pulling away, but she held him tighter. When she finally let him go, he just stared at her. A little mad at her for pulling such a trick on him, but more mad at himself for liking it. “I’m sorry”, she said, when she saw the emotion all over his face she couldn’t quite identify. “It’s all right”, he replied. He pulled out from the side street he was on, and then headed into the school premises. He drove her straight to her hall, neither of them saying anything on the drive there. “We’re here”, he said, trying to lighten the mood. “Sorry about earlier”, she said, “it won’t happen again.” “Don’t worry about it.” He tried to make it look like nothing “Totally off topic, but what are we doing for Lola’s birthday?” She inquired “We? There’s no we. There’s just us. Lola & I. I’m just taking her to a restaurant she loves very much.” Chris said knowing deep down that he didnt need to say all of that. “The one you took her to on Valentine’s?” She asked “Yeah. Problem?” Chris asked “Not at all. Just that for a very long time she had wanted a surprise party” She replied “Really?” Chris asked, happy to be on the right track with the surprise party. “Yes, really” She confirmed. “I’ll find out for myself. Thanks for the heads up” Chris said, hoping to cut the conversation before sparks might fly again. “I’m sure you’ve got it covered, but Lola must not find out what happened tonight. She might just kill me” She said “No worries” Chris said “Goodnight”, she said, walking towards the entrance of the hostel. “Night”, he called after her. Turning the car around, he headed to his hostel trying to put the events of this night behind him and started to think about how he was gonna figure out which one – the dinner or the surprise party – was the better idea. |

Christopher Kayode Nelson, Chris as he liked to be called, was born sometime in the eighties. “Crazy since the eighties” he would jokingly refer to himself. Born into a rich middle class family, he never really had much problems getting whatever he wanted. With the added advantage that he was the last child, he was his mother’s favorite. The only problems he had growing up will be the occasional slap or conk when his older brother, Junior, felt he was out of line and his mother was not around to defend him. His older sister, Omolade, was very easy. All he needed to do was threaten to tell mummy about super flirty boyfriend, James and she would remain quiet and hold her peace. Sometimes, blackmail is a very efficient tool for keeping everyone in line. He was a smart child, came top of his class. Most of the time at least. He could do no wrong in his teachers’ eyes, his academic prowess continued well into his secondary school days. He was always the person to represent the school anytime there was a competition. Suffice it to say that any competition that he participated in, the first prize trophy was going to be in the bus bringing them back to school. Chris was a normal, law-abiding, morally upright student until the second term of S.S.S 1. He was still normal and upright but just a little less law-abiding after then. He started seeing things a little differently. Some might say he loosened up considerably and quite rightly so. Chris’ transformation began when a boy named Jameel transferred to his school. They weren’t friends at first, neither did they have anything in common or so they thought at the time. Their paths first crossed when the Biology teacher paired them for a class project. Chris had no problems socializing but he didn’t want a partner like Jameel. Putting aside every notion he had about Jameel, he went to him and asked about what he thought the project. “I really don’t care about that project bro”, Jameel said. “Why not?”, Chris asked, shocked. “Because I just don’t care.” Jameel said without a care in the world. “Aren’t you interested in the extra ten marks?” Chris quizzed him more “I will get a credit at the end of the day, so I really I’m not interested” Jameel said uninterested. “How are sure you will get a credit?” Chris said fascinated. Raising one eyebrow, Jameel replied “the exams are still 70 marks, right?” “Yes” Chris replied firmly “I will study for the exams and get about 45 and then I already have 18 from the tests so I’m good” “Wow! What if you don’t make the 45?” “I will” “How?” “Anyway possible. People like you worry too much.” Jameel walked away leaving an open- mouthed Chris just standing there. After Chris regained his consciousness after being in a daze, he started pondering on what Jameel had said. What does “anyway possible” even mean? He wondered. He shrugged it off for the mean time and went back to his class. Chris got on the project anyway and finished it without any help from Jameel. In the paper given to them by the teacher, he was supposed to fill in the names of the persons that carried out the project. He had finished filling his own name when he realized he didn’t know Jameel’s last name. He did the trek to the Art Class and sought out Jameel. “What’s your surname?”, Chris asked. “Why do you ask?”, Jameel replied. “I need it for that Biology project that you blew off. I need to write your name as my partner.” “Oh? You still went on with that?” “Yes. Apparently.” Jameel laughed. “Why are you laughing?” “I just didn’t think someone like you would still want to put my name on the project that I didn’t even lift a finger for” “Well, I did” “Ok. My last name’s Benson” “All right. We’ll go over this stuff in case the Biology teacher asks us anything. Ok?” “Ok sir”, Jameel said laughing. “What?” “Nothing” As Chris turned to leave, Jameel called out to him “There’s a party at my place this evening. You should come.” “On a school evening?” “Problem?” “Not really” “You seem cool but you are little uptight. Come and let’s see if we can loosen you up a little with some booze” “There’s going to be alcohol?” “Again, problem?” “Yes” “Why?” “I don’t drink” “No worries then” “All right” Chris opened the door of the classroom to leave and then Jameel called after him again. “Ask anyone for the address” |

Following Chris CONTD:Staying home and reading for the examinations coming up in a little less than two weeks time was usually Chris’ idea of “ Studying for the examinations.” So study he did. Getting home after school, that day, he did what he usually did: get home, see about washing his uniform, take a shower, have lunch, settle in nicely with his books. Determined that he was going to continue reading for his examinations, he picked up his notebook, opened to the first page and started looking at the scheme of work he had jotted down when the teacher had been dictating it the first day of class. Cross-checking the scheme of work and the actual lessons they had had in class, he noticed that the teacher skipped a few topics, so he opened his textbook to the topic in question and started reading. He had only been reading about forty-five minutes when his phone made a sound. He looked at the expensive Motorola Talkabout that his Dad had gotten him for his birthday. He still didn’t understand why he needed one. His father had simply said “For emergencies.” He remembered setting the message tone to a chirping sound. When he heard the sound, he knew for sure it wasn’t his mother or his father. He was sure they were too impatient to type a text message. Out of curiosity, he put the book down and went to look at the phone. “R u doing anythng at hme? Cm to my place jur.” A text from his friend, Tobi, read. “I can’t. I’m studying” He quickly replied. “Pls cm. I wnt 2 show u sumthng. Be fast pls. These msgs are kinda expensive.” He got from Tobi again. “Ok. Im on my way” Chris gave in. Leaving his books, he grabbed a pair of jeans from the closet and tossed on a simple-looking T-shirt, he started to prepare to leave home trying to figure out what it might be that Tobi wanted that required his attention personally. It wasn’t too far to consider asking his brother, Junior, to take him there or too close to practically waltz over there. Grabbing his iPod – mother’s idea of a birthday present – he started off towards Tobi’s place. Approaching Tobi’s house, he could see Tobi outside his house with a couple of boys from school and an impatient look on his face. As soon as Tobi saw him, his impatient expression seemed to vanish and a mischievous one took its place. “Hey what’s up?” Tobi said as soon as Chris got within earshot. “I’m fine. What’s going on?” Chris replied “We’re going to the party.” Tobi said “Ehen? How’s that my business” Chris inquired “I told Momsy that you were going. You know her, she really likes you. If you’re going she’d automatically assume you’d keep me from doing anything stupid” Tobi said laughing lightly “Really? I told you I was studying! You brought me out so I can lie for you?” Chris said disappointed “Keep your voice down. Before she’d think something is going on here”, said Tobi. “Just help me out please”, Tobi pleaded. “Okay” Getting back into the compound, they headed straight into the kitchen where Tobi’s mum was. When they saw her, Chris did the half- prostration and the greetings and the overly long exchange of pleasantries ensued. After answering questions as to the health and well- being of his parents and siblings, Tobi brought up the issue of the party. Tobi’s Mum asked Chris if he was going to the party. Tobi shot Chris a look and Chris said he was going. “You both should be home latest 8” Chris said, mimicking Tobi’s Mum. “You owe me big time. Now I have to go to that stupid party to make sure I keep my promise to your mom.” Said Chris a tad serious this time. “You know you don’t have to come if you don’t want to”, Tobi said. “No way am I going back on my word. I must get you home before 8. So that by the time Momsy gets home, I would’ve been home as well” Chris said “OK then. Let’s go” they both agreed. Getting outside, they met up with the boys from their class whom Chris didn’t really like because of their overly loud attitude, but Tobi seemed to get along with them without any problem whatsoever. Since Jameel’s house was just two streets from Tobi’s place, they just started walking over to the place. When they got to Jameel’s house, Chris was a soupçon surprised that there was no music. Tobi hit the bell to announce their arrival. The bell had barely started ringing when the gate was flung open. Another one of their classmates was the one that opened the gate. He was one of Jameel’s very good friends. He showed them in and they proceeded to the living area where the party was happening. Even at this point, Chris still could not hear any music. But the surprise of his life so far awaited him when the door of the house was opened and he almost went flash-deaf. Apparently, the party-area is sound-proof. After his ears had stopped ringing from the sudden cacophony, he began to acclimatize to his environment. Suddenly, the music wasn’t too loud anymore and he began to hear the people around him. What was even more surprising were the people he started to see there. He was even more surprised when he saw Yemisi guzzling a can of beer like it was a bottle of water. He hadn’t expected to see someone otherwise well-behaved and buttoned-down to be here in this party talk less of pouring beer down her throat like it was on fire. He kept on staring at her that he didn’t notice Jameel standing by his side tapping his shoulder. Jameel shook him a little bit and that’s when he realized he had been in a daze. “Do you like her?” Jameel said motioning towards Yemisi with his head and smiling in a sheepish way. “Not like that. Please wipe that smile off your face” Chris replied “Okay. If you say so.” Jameel said raising his hands in the air, in a surrender gesture. “What would you like to drink?” Jameel said, gesturing towards the bar area. “Malt. Thank you. I still need to make sure Tobi gets home in one piece.” “Which Tobi are you talking about?” Jameel asked with sarcasm “Tobi that is behind me” Chris said, looking behind him and not finding him “He must be around here somewhere” “Don’t worry about him. He has legs. There’s no malt. I’ll get you the closest we have to a fruit juice, OK?” Jameel said “Alright” Jameel said, looking around trying to spot Tobi. Jameel disappeared into the throng of people gyrating and contorting their bodies to the rhythm of the music, supposedly going to bring him the drink. Chris walked over to the nearest couch and sat down. He kept looking at the people dancing and walking about, surprise registering on his face every time he spotted someone he wouldn’t have in a million years imagined he would see there. He kept observing again until his gaze wandered back to Yemisi. She seemed to be dancing on and off with some guy. Chris kept looking at her that he didn’t realize Jameel was back and following his line of sight. Clearing his throat to get Chris’ attention he said “I heard you. It’s not like that. Anyways, this is the closest I could find to something juicy. It’s Alize. Found it in my father’s bar. Taste it. If you don’t like it, water it is” Pouring a little into a glass Jameel handed him, he brought the bright yellow drink to his mouth. He could taste the alcohol but the sweetness made it bearable. Pouring to about half the glass, he handed the bottle back to Jameel. “This one is enough,” he said. “Okay.” Jameel said taking the bottle closing it and walking back the way he came. Apparently, he wants to go and return the bottle. Chris started sipping his drink, and he found that the more he sipped, the more he wanted to sip. Before long, he was done with the drink. He started to crave for more, but he managed to control his craving. But he soon found out he was feeling no pain. None whatsoever. A couple of minutes went by and he noticed he was feeling the music more than he was a couple of minutes ago. His eyes started wandering again. He saw Yemisi again. This time she was sitting alone and for the first time she was looking back at him. Then out of nowhere, her face broke out into this incredible heart-warming smile. He smiled back. It didn’t take long for it to feel like an external force was starting to push him to go and meet her. Soon as he got to her, she held on to his arm to stand up. When she was on her feet, she pulled him to her and started grinding on him. Unsure of what to do, he put his arms around her. Seeing that he was responding appropriately, she led him to the nearest wall and made him rest his back on the wall while she rubbed all of her ample behind on his groin. He was getting excited and she could feel it. The more excited he got, the more she seemed to want to dance with him. She continued grinding on him for a while longer. Suddenly, a door he hadn’t noticed opened beside him, and out came Tobi and some girl he couldn’t quite remember her name. Tobi looked at him and said “That’s my boy!” Before he could gather his wits about him to reply, Yemisi pushed him into the room, locking the door behind her. Before he knew what was going on, her top was off and a moment later, so were his trousers and briefs. His brain was thinking “what is going on?” but his mouth couldn’t make the connection with his brain to form the sentence, instead his mouth made a connection with Yemisi’s mouth and they started to kiss. As the kissing gathered momentum, Yemisi pushed him onto the bed. She continued kissing him, and before he could say he had an Uncle Bob, Yemisi had all of him in her mouth. She started to suck him and his mind went blank. She kept on sucking him and brought his hands to her boobs. He started to massage them. This seemed to make her get more excited as she started to suck faster. She continued sucking him until he started to feel the motion in his loins. Then without warning, he blew his load in her mouth. As soon as she felt his salty seed in her mouth, she ran to the adjoining bathroom and went to spit in the sink. When she came back, she started dressing. He started to do the same too. When they were both dressed, he started to leave when he heard her behind him, “Won’t you take me home?” Yemisi asked “Okay”, he said “Let’s go then” They both went out. Looking at his wristwatch, it was 7:30. His parents would be home soon. “Let’s be quick”, he said “Okay”, she said slipping her hand into his. Not saying a word, he started towards the door. Opening the door, Jameel was right out there with a big smile on his face. Ignoring him, he made his way through the still-dancing bodies and towards the exit. As soon as they got outside, the air felt cooler and the buzz from the alcohol seemed to be fading. “Where’s your house?” He asked her. “Just the compound after the next one”, she replied. “Oh really?” Chris inquired still feeling happy after the short but delightful Mouth Gig. “Yes” Yemisi answered with a smile “That’s good then” Chris replied “Chris, I just want you to know that I’ve never done anything like what I did with you tonight before” Yemisi said “Really?” Chris said, not buying her late disclaimer “Yes. Really. I know I’m bombed right now. But I want you to know that I really like you. I know I sound needy but when I’m sober I won’t be able to say it.” Yemisi confessed, shying away from looking at Chris in the eye “I like you too Yemisi” Chris replied With that they left the compound and started towards her house. When they got there, she kissed him full on the lips and said “I will see you in school tomorrow” “Definitely” Chris replied “Good night” Yemisi said with a joyful heart. “Good night” Chris said With that he turned, started heading off in the general direction of his place and started thinking about the night and all the things that had happened. Thoughts about Tobi and the promise he made to Tobi’s mum about bringing him home all safely forgotten. He knew the thoughts of the night will keep him up for a long time, definitely distract him as he prepares for the exams. |

IT'S BEEN A LONG LONG TIME AND HONESTLY, I MISS YOU ALL. THIS AIN'T NO TIME TO DWELL ON HOW LONG I WENT AWOL SHA. RATHER, THIS IS THE TIME TO READ FOLLOWING CHRIS FROM THE VERY FIRST EPISODE AGAIN BEFORE READING THIS NEW EPISODE. I SINCERELY HOPE YOU ENJOY THIS AND IT GOES SOME WAY IN APPEASING ALL OF YOU GUYS.. FOLLOWING CHRIS EPISODE 6: All the way home from the party, Chris could think of nothing else. All his thoughts revolved around Yemisi and everything that happened that night. From the intimate moment they shared to the full kiss on the lips when he bade her goodnight. Getting home, he went straight to his room, highly ecstatic. Even the songs on his iPod seemed to be in alignment with his mood. Feeling a bit woozy and tired, he laid down on his bed, allowing the thoughts of Yemisi serenade his subconscious. It didn’t take long before he was in dreamland kissing Yemisi on the lips all over again. It seemed as if he had been asleep for only 30 minutes when he heard his alarm starting to blare. Struggling to put off the alarm, he took his first glance at it. “Oh shit!” was the first line of reasoning in his otherwise still groggy mind. Four years of high school and he had never been late. Like never. “How could I have slept till 7:15?” he wondered. Struggling to get off the bed, that’s when he felt the first pang in his head. Immediately falling back to the bed, he felt even more pangs. “Great! A headache”, he thought. Trying again to get off the bed, he managed to position his head in such a way he didn’t feel so much pain. Divesting himself of all clothing, he stepped into the shower. The cold long and fast needles of water seemed to be therapeutic. Rushing the shower, he jumped out, put on his school uniform and raced downstairs and straight out of the house, skipping breakfast and went in search of the person that was supposed to take him to school. Getting to school, the morning assembly had already started. As soon as he got in, latecomers started getting caught. “Thank goodness”, he muttered under his breath. Getting to the part where his classmates lined up, he noticed the look on their faces. He was not the only one looking spaced-out. Even most of the people in the class above theirs that were at the party were looking the same. The assembly seemed to last forever when in actual fact he had been standing for barely 10 minutes. The principal was going on and on about some junior students that had been caught skipping school. Chris just tuned out of the speech and that’s when he heard his name in a high-pitched but very low-sounding whisper. He turned to look and that’s when he saw her. She didn’t look dazed like the rest of them. She seemed to be particularly glowing. She smiled at him. He smiled back. Looking away sheepishly, he tried to tune back in to what the principal was saying. Amazingly, the principal was still going on and on about the juniors. He tuned back out and tried to steal glance at Yemisi. He found her looking straight back at him and he could only smile. The assembly dragged on for what seemed like years and eventually, they were dismissed. Their classroom block was a little ways from the assembly ground. On the walk to their classrooms, Yemisi caught up with him. “Hey dear, how are you?” said Yemisi. “I’m fine, I just have a terrible headache”, Chris replied. “Oh! So you’re hung-over. Sorry” “Thanks” “How was your night?” She asked “It was fine. Thought about you all night till I slept off” “Really?” She asked with glee written all over her face. “Yes.” “I think I love you, Chris”, she said. “I love you too, Yemisi”, Chris replied. “Are you sure? Cross your heart?” “Yes. Cross my heart” “Come and meet me in the music room after the closing time.” She said somewhat quietly. “Okay”, Chris replies. “I just want to kiss you” She said coyly, when she saw the uncertainty on his face. “Okay. Okay”, he said with an ear-to-ear grin on his face. “Bye”, she said rushing off in the direction of her classroom. “Bye.” Staying in class all day, all he could think about were the words Yemisi told him that morning. “Come and meet me in the music room after the closing time.” Now that was something to look forward to. Even the mathematics that always excited him on a good day seemed all irrelevant at this point. All he wanted was for the school day to end. The day dragged on. Class after class. Break, and then more classes. Looking at his watch, the time hit 3:30. Soon after, the bell goes, announcing the end of the day. Normally, at this point, he would’ve picked up his bag, packed his books neatly into the bag and then would be on his way home. On this day however, he just sat there and watched as his classmates were filing out, one after the other. Just as he was about to leave the class and go to where Yemisi had said she’d be, Tobi and Jameel were passing beside his classroom when they looked through the window and saw him there. “Ahn ahn. You’re still here”, Tobi said. “Yeah. Just waiting for someone”, Chris replied. “Hmm. . . I can bet my life that he’s waiting for Yemisi”, Jameel chirped in. “Yes. I’m waiting for her”, Chris said looking at his watch “and I should go and meet her now” “Okay o”, Tobi said “that’s how you ditched me last night.” “Jeez! I forgot. Did your mum ask about me?” Chris said. “Don’t worry. I just said you walked me to the gate and then left since it was getting late”, Tobi replied “your reputation is still safe.” “Sorry. I should get going”, Chris said. “Yemisi baby”, Jameel said in a voice mimicking a female’s and then he and Tobi burst out laughing. With that he excused himself and started heading for the music room. He had no idea that a section of the school could be that quiet. No students lurking, no teachers around. Nothing. As soon as he got closer, he saw the door slowly open. Yemisi bade him to come quick and as soon as he was in there, she locked the door. “Where did you get the key?” Chris asked. “My sister is the choir prefect. Did you forget? She has the keys to this place. I told her I wanted to play with one of the instruments before coming home”, she replied. “Oh okay” “I was waiting for this time like it would never come. Time was just slow today”, Yemisi said. “For you too? I thought it was only me.” “Thank God you were feeling it too. I told Shade about you. She thinks we are moving too fast.” “I don’t know. I haven’t been in a relationship before” “I know.” “How do you know?” “We’ve been in this school for four years together you know?” “So?” “So, I know you haven’t dated anyone. Or did you have a girlfriend in primary school?” she asked rhetorically. “Okay. So I haven’t dated anybody. What about you?” Chris asked. “You’re my first too” As soon as she said that, some blood got redistributed in his system and all he wanted to do was kiss and touch her. Reaching for her, she came closer to him and he kissed her. Full on the lips. She pried his mouth open and slid her tongue into his mouth. They had been kissing for a while when she took his hand and shoved it under her blouse. They continued to kiss and both their hands were moving everywhere. In the heat of the moment, he reached for the waistband of her skirt. She reached for his zipper. She started to trace his engorging enthusiasm with her fingers. Discontinuing his plans for the waistband of her skirt, he reached lower and pulled the skirt by the hem and started to cup the cheeks of her rounded derriere. At that moment, that’s when they heard the footsteps on the floor above them. That could only mean the security guards have started walking around checking for lost items and students or miscreants hanging around. Knowing that the guards will check every room because they had keys to every place, Yemisi took Chris by the hand and led him through the other entrance that opened to the far side of the junior block. Sweet escape. Thinking about his high school days was always fun. Suddenly, he had an idea for Lola’s birthday party. Picking up his phone he dialed a number. |
