It seems the perfect place to act Zombie movies is in Nigeria, forgive me to say it. Because there wont be need for scripts.

At least, Sheep don't follow crowd. They follow their shepherds voice. But here, anywhere the crowd put head, everyone faces that direction.

Most posts I read here, if I would say, very unfortunate.

Days were gone when I used to blame mechanics. But now, I blame the car owners.

Volvo cars are fuel guzzlers indeed!

Haba, oga ikenna, why did you decide to pay attention to only negative comments? What about very many positive reviews of volvo cars on here? As far as Im concerned, those positives outweigh the negatives if you read all posts as I did.

Jesus said he didn't come for the righteous, but for those that need salvation. Notwithstanding, if you go back and read that my post again deeply, you would see it touched on both negative and positive comments.

A colleague owns Volvo XC90. He loves it so much. This colleague of mine owns Brand new Kia Sportage as well. But he prefers driving the XC90. He told me the other day that he prefer doing trips with the XC90 than the New Sportage, due to impressive road handling of the XC90 compared to the Sportage. I have experienced the wonderful fuel efficiency of the vehicle. I have sat and been driven in his XC90 and have seen how good it could be. I have diagnosed the Vehicle for him onetime for an injection issue and it was very simple. The culprit was MAF sensor. Very simple to troubleshoot. So I am finding it difficult here to understand some comments on modern Volvos, those emphasising they are not good.

"Volvo cars are fuel guzzlers", they had said. But when you ask them why they said so, they would likely tell you because Toyota Camry 2007 model consumes less than Volvo 240 or 740 of the '80s. It has always been, "they said, we heard, could be, etc". No first hand experience or comparison that make sense. The crowd goes with hearsay. It has always been.

Like I said, if you had read that my post deeply, you would have seen the hand writing on the wall.

Volvo cars are not fuel guzzlers as alleged (especially the newer models). I have been using this Volvo 850 for the past 2years and it is wonderful. I have an issue at hand which can happen to any car of any brand.
I'm only trying to save cost. The bottom line should have been to scan the car and I will know the exact fault.
In all honesty, this car consume same fuel as 4cylinder cars on a long distance. It is a travelling machine. Fast and the driving force is unimaginable. I outrun V8s like anything. AM OK WITH MY VOLVO.

I gat my car back!
The injector was blocked, I serviced it myself. I washed the nozzles with petrol, then with injector cleaner. The black smoke disappear
One has to be careful because there are delicate part of it (sieve inside the nizzle) My car is steaming water from silencer now and back to normal
I can now travel from Lagos to Oshogbo with 25-27litres (with 5cylinder engine) can you beat that?
Volvo is good, but you just have to get the right mechanic.
The timing can only be set by experienced mechanic or volvo specialist.
If your Air Flow Meter is not good, the engine will not work well
This is modern engines and all these petty things should not be taken for granted

It might be interesting!

Found some problems of Volvo cars:

Transmission Shifting Issues Due to Internal Failure and Software Issues
Exterior Light Bulbs May Burn Out Prematurely
Front Upper Strut Mounts May Fail and Cause Noise Over Bumps

Convertible Tops May Have Problems With Micro-Switches/Potentiometers

I LOVE Volvos!
I have owned 2 - A 2004 S60 (SOLD) and now a 2008 S40. Both GREAT cars!
All the folks who have written about bad fuel economy and noisy engines etc., are clearly not recent model Volvo users.

One problem I have noticed in both: the A/C compressor sometimes goes wonky after about 100K miles - The compressor cuts out when you either hit a bump or brake hard. No more cold A/C!! angry Apparently a common fault in Volvos, remedied by reshimming the compressor clutch or buying a new compressor. Google it.

Next I am getting an XC90 for my mother.

I hav being doin some research on cars for about 3 yrs now
Based on ♍γ̲̣̣̥ findings I had to buy a Volvo V40 july last year.
Volvo cars are reliable, cool, fuel economy, sound engine, rugged body, good for speed handling, comfortality & stability and finaly the technological n luxury options you find in a yr2002 Volvo ar just coming in a 2010 jap cars. Also by the tim u get the sam options u got in a Volvo in a jap car you would be paying double the price.
I sell cars and have used at least 7 cars in ♍γ̲̣̣̥ life.
I LOVE ♍γ̲̣̣̥ VOLVO and I sell more of Volvo now.
Interested in a V or S40 contact me on 08181327694 fr inspectn

Thats the SUV right there. But they are really expensive. Volvo spends alot of money on innovations these days. The five brands I would ever and always like to have is the VOLVO, CITROEN, AUDI, VW, PEUGOT. others are learners. no disrespect to BMW, its just a personal beef.

I discovered that volvo cars are very cheap, the engine is unbelievably cheap as well.
I actually wanted to buy V70 and I informed a mechanic about it, his response was so discouraging
Few people I spoke with were just singing 'japanese car'
I wonder why Nigerians are scared of it.
Pls. If you have any information, kindly share

Dont ever ask a naija mechanic for car advice, dey just dont do research, the tell u from there own experience. Some1 dat havent driven a ferari will critisice it, dats how our mechanics are. U on ur own make some research look for some1 who owns d type of car, d best place is the internet they are lots of car review sites, use dem 4 ur research and u are good to go.
Naija mechanics will mostly say things they like and not the truth. Infact world wide VOLVO is know for quality cars, there cars score the highest in crash tests.

Please Nairalanders. My radiator fan does not kick in on time, it works like it has a mind of it's own. I always have to turn my airconditioner on before the fan blows.

The car is overheating, its a 1999 Volvo s80. I have called a mechanic in ladipo, and they said they have to relay the fan to work direct, which means they have to hotwire the fan to the battery, it wouldn't work with the thermostat anymore.

Please i want to know if this proposed method will not have any effect on water flowing into the engine when the thermostat won't be working anymore.

Please someone help me before i ask them to proceed.

If you can afford it, replace the thermostat or fan or whichever parts is faulty, so the car will work exactly the way it used to.

If they connect it direct however, it does nothing to water entering your engine, the implication is that the fan runs constantly non-stop from the moment you turn on your ignition.

In the short term it will solve your overheating issues but in the long term it shortens engine longevity and life span as the car might not run up to optimal temperature in most cases. There'll definitely be uneven distribution of temperature within the engine, not good for engine health.

Note that all those mechanics will tell you the same thing, which is to connect it direct and end the fan and overheating wahala, they claim it has no adverse effect and make excuses like our temperature not being the same with that of the white men who produced the car. But note that if cars in Dubai can run on thermostat then that excuse is already null and void.

Get your car system to factory setting if you can, the people who made the car that way ain't fools.

Thanks

Your fan is working normally as it is.Let your mechanic check your thermostat and radiator.
