The frequency of adverts for used/registered 2004 Honda Accord aka EOD is quite high compared to other cars/brands. They are mostly between 750k to 900k on this forum and other cars websites. Why is this so? Does it mean that the car have common issues or challenges? |

I went with a friend for inspection of an 04 Accord last month and he was very much on the discouraging side... He said-and i quote "the front tyres ALWAYS pull off after a while"... I must confess i had to slow down on the purchase because I've withnessed that model of honda break down on the road several times... Many times it's the cause of congestion on the road as the tyre would bend and the car rests directly on the tyre damaging the front fender and perhaps other stuff. Now my question is... Could this be as a result of poor maintenance one the owners side or that model particularly was badly designed? |

HenriXI: You certainly gave an answer. If it was bad design a recall would have said so but there is non for suspension parts. Trust Naija mechanics, motorist and chinco parts. If you think only honda does that, i have seen mecedes vboot so many times, toyota tacoma, toyota prado and a lot of others i cant remember. On the transmisson issue, the fear of ABRO atf is the bgning of wisdom if you use any honda auto trans. 1 Like |

HenriXI:Honda cars like German cars are premium rated, people use cheap ATF in their Honda cars instead of the original Honda ATF then come out here to say that Honda cars has transmission problems, LIARS. Same applies to the "Naija leg pulling" myth, people don't pay attention to their ball joints but put the blame on Honda. The Accord is an amazing car built for your comfort and premium driving experience. 1 Like |

chucky234: In essence, you mean i can still proceed with buying the honda with the condition that i change the ball joint regularly and use the recommended Honda transmission oil. If this is the case, what's the recommended mileage to change the ball joints and when I'm replacing them, what do i look out for (to verify the quality).? 1 Like 1 Share |

HenriXI:I have used my 2005 Accord V6 for 4yrs and yet to change ball joint or transmission, the car is an amazing car if well cared for. Change the Engine every 6000 miles or once a year with Mobile 1 5w-30 oil, pay attention to the noise coming from the legs of your car and change the ball joint if your mech say it is the culprit. Also use the original Honda ATF for your transmission, go ahead and get your car bro. 1 Like 1 Share |

chucky234: Thanks a million @Chucky, your information is really helpful (coming from an Accord owner). Its gonna be my first Honda car (i own a 96 camry). I would like to know what to look out for when buying the car cuz i don't have enough to go for a direct toks. I intend getting a Naija used instead. What are em things i should look out for so i don't buy myself issues. We can talk privately on WhatsApp tho #08033149441 (Henry). Thanks again. |

DONFASZY: There are a lot of things our mechanics don't know and Honda is unforgiving with that. For instance almost all cases of transmission failures are as a result of using non-recommended or wrong gear oil (ATF). Once you use an undesirable ATF, the gear packs up almost immediately and you think Honda has a problem. Some mechanics advise users to change atf with every service while others say after 1 or 2 service. Its all wrong. Honda in most cases recommends change of atf after 60,000miles or 5yrs or sooner if you usually tow or climb hills probably to your home. Who knows that you need to replace brake fluid every 3 yrs? Who knows that you need to rotate all tyres every 10,000miles? How many original Honda replacement ball joint are in the regular spare part market in Nigeria, almost none? How many motorist care if their suspension squeaks? When it happens, they say its Honda. 2 Likes 1 Share |

Re: High Frequency Of Registered 2004 Honda Accord 2004 by adanny01(m): 2:01pm On Mar 10, 2015 |
Fortune13: Access and recognising to use OEM replacement parts. If you wish to use cheap chinese parts, make sure replace with a slightest sign of trouble but most people miss this signs and end up with a broken wheel. On the transmission, no way around it, you must buy Honda DW-1 if you must change ATF at all. |

Re: High Frequency Of Registered 2004 Honda Accord 2004 by adanny01(m): 2:14pm On Mar 10, 2015 |
OgaTheTop2: Senerio 1: Americans use dealerships for maintenance, but will not be present during repairs. If dealership replaces you ATF with a non recommended one and your transmission packs up. As far as you know, the gear is supposed to be fine but the dealerahip messed you up. You end up having a Honda user oblivious of the fact that some one waa responsible for hia failed trans. Scenerio 2: A recall might have been made about the transmission. The average milliage is for example 79000miles, if you get a car at 120000miles would you say that yours is also defective? |
Re: High Frequency Of Registered 2004 Honda Accord 2004 by chucky234(m): 3:08pm On Mar 10, 2015 |
HenriXI:If you are buying Nigerian used make sure the engine and gear are in perfect working condition, interior should be neat as you can easily oven bake the body if they scratches as expected with Nigerian used cars. Most Nigerians used cars are far better than some junks importers shipped into the country as tokunbo, just take your time to get a well maintained car. If your budget is reasonable enough I can talk to a friend who is also a nlander if he still want to sell his as he intends buying Evil Spirit. Once you get the car, flush the oil and transmission fluid then refill with the right ones, also change filter and you are good to go. 1 Like 2 Shares |

Fortune13:This is not just Honda thing, try use a conventional engine oil in an Audi car and watch the engine paralyze, such cars don't tolerate inappropriate or non recommended engine oil/ATF. 3 Likes |
