Re: Doctor in the House: Free Medical Advice Available by Nobody: 2:34pm On Mar 12, 2015 |
adelurv: It depends. Define what you mean by irregular; in other words, give me a brief synopsis of your menstrual cycle. And how old are you? |
Re: Doctor in the House: Free Medical Advice Available by Nobody: 2:36pm On Mar 12, 2015 |
Seunpaul01: Hemorrhoids likely. Need to pain a visit to a surgeon; a general surgeon or colorectal surgeon. |
Re: Doctor in the House: Free Medical Advice Available by adelurv(f): 3:36pm On Mar 12, 2015 |
Xiadnat: I am 25y/o. I mean my menstrual cycle is no longer frequent.. It skips for 1 or even two months..I went to see a doctor. And he prescribed gynecosid..dat was january. And until now I've not seen my period. |
Re: Doctor in the House: Free Medical Advice Available by Nobody: 5:31pm On Mar 12, 2015 |
adelurv: First, get a pregnancy test and confirm non pregnant state. Assuming, not pregnancy, then: You have secondary amenorrhea then. There are many causes that you need to rule out. Get a TSH and prolactin levels at some point to rule out thyroid problems and high prolactin. But, let's say it's purely hormonal imbalance. gynecosid is an estrogen. Are you still taking this taking this drug? You need a proper balance of estrogen and progestrone to get back to your normal bleeding. You are getting constant estrogen without bleeding, you may be progestrone deficient. Go to your doctor and ask for a medroxyprogestrone. You should get a withdrawal bleed within 7 days, if you don't, then seek for a combination of estrogen/progestrone contraceptive. |

Xiadnat:Let me tell u the truth of the matter: u are always quick refering us to surgeons; those surgeons are nt dt available in Nigeria. I visited an ENT surgeon twice and paid 2000 naira for each consultation in a useless government hospital. He is yet to commence any treatment; just tests upon tests. Besides, medical students are those attending to me as those consultants are as elusive as smoke. They wud say self medication is dangerous, bt they make health delivery beyond the reach of a common man. |

StealthIdeals: I understand. It is frustrating. Surgery is the definitive treatment. In the mean time, control constipation with colace or docusate or fiber enriched meals and lots of water. Can try sitz bath for anal pain. |
Re: Doctor in the House: Free Medical Advice Available by Nobody: 8:18pm On Mar 13, 2015 |
Seunpaul01: colace, docusate, mineral oil enema or just enhance your dietary fiber and drink plenty water. Good luck. |

gud evenning doctor, my roommate have not mensurate since last month, according to her she went for general tests with her fiancee before coming to school on 13th January, and the doctor found out that she has infection, he gave her a drug, an insertion drug, I think it is Gynecosid, cos I kept the pack but later dispose it and the doctor also gave her fiancee his. the first night she inserted it, she started mensurating the next day, so she stopped until after her menses, she continued with the insertion drug. but February she didn't see her menses, she traveled to see her fiancee, around 21 February they had unprotected sex all weekend, then she took Ep Forte on Monday when she came back to school. she is so worried because she has not seen her menses after the January own. she did a pregnancy test, it was negative, Pls ur advice would be needed, she is planning to take anoda Gynecosid drug. Re: Doctor in the House: Free Medical Advice Available by Nobody: 11:30am On Mar 14, 2015 |
adelurv: Alright. Gyencosid is estrogen only pill. You need a both progesterone and estrogen. Go back to your doctor and ask for combined oral contraceptive. You need both hormones to regulate your period properly. Good luck. |
Re: Doctor in the House: Free Medical Advice Available by Nobody: 11:33am On Mar 14, 2015 |
Moradeeke: Yes. Definitely needs an endocrinologist. If you cannot afford or find one, find a good Internist and have them work her up for the cause of her estrogen deficiency. She is not making enough estrogen. The causes can be simple to complex. Don't hesitate to ask any further questions. Best. |
Re: Doctor in the House: Free Medical Advice Available by Nobody: 11:36am On Mar 14, 2015 |
christybabe: Gynecosid, I believe is estrogen only pill. She needs to do a progesterone challenge test. Go to GP/gyn and ask for medroxyprogestrone pill. Take for 5-7days, you should have withdrawal bleed if you are estrogen sufficient. IF she doesn't bleed after finishing the pack, then she is estrogen deficient. And even then, she needs to be on combined oral contraceptive. Bottom line: she needs to be on combined contraceptive; this means both estrogen/progesterone present in the pill in varying amounts. Unopposed estrogen is not good long term. Good luck |
Re: Doctor in the House: Free Medical Advice Available by Nobody: 11:38am On Mar 14, 2015 |
abayomi93: Hemoglobin of 12.9 should not be this symptomatic. I think there's other underlying issues. Obtain an ECG and get a cardiac exam to start with. I suspect cardiac arrhythmia. You can report back if you'd like. |

Re: Doctor in the House: Free Medical Advice Available by Nobody: 6:17pm On Mar 14, 2015 |
drstan: I need more information. Any other symptoms like belly pain, fever etc?? Other medical/health issues? Travel history? I think you've taken quite a host of antibiotics and have placed an assault on your normal gut flora. There is such a thing as bacterial overgrowth syndrome. I think you need stool culture to determine exactly what and if it is a bug causing this. Other possibilities: C-diff colitis, Irritable bowel, or a gastroenteritis. I want to say, back off antibiotics for now. |
Re: Doctor in the House: Free Medical Advice Available by drstan(m): 7:57pm On Mar 14, 2015 |
Xiadnat:there is no observable symptom now, except that of the rumbling stomach , sometimes the rumbling comes with pain, but if gas out it releases me, but a day before i start taking the drugs mentioned above i was having waist pain but it stops as i started the drugs, for now is only the rumbling stomach ,stooling(have stool 3 times just within 4hrs and mucour was in the stool, and during stooling i normally feel pain in my stomach ), and dryness of the mouth |

Re: Doctor in the House: Free Medical Advice Available by Nobody: 3:46pm On Mar 15, 2015 |
drstan: OK. If there is no blood in the stool, it's a better sign. It means it's not one of the infectious bugs that you need heavy duty abx to combat. However, 3 weeks is quite a lot time to have infectious diarrhea unless you are being re-exposed. Can you think of anything that you have introduced into your diet or drinks that might contribute? If it's infectious, you need too let it run it's course w/o antibiotics because antibiotics is just killing of your normal flora, making diarrhea worse eventually. Other things to start thinking of is: allergy to certain foods, inflammatory bowel syndrome. I say, give this another week, if it continues or worsen, see a gastroenterologists. Make sure to replenish with fluid electrolytes, you are loosing some with the stool. Best. |

iameffiong: You sexually active? Rule out STD If you are or are not, could be contact dermatitis. What are you putting on there lately? New detergent, lotion, condom etc? Any rashes? |

Re: Doctor in the House: Free Medical Advice Available by Nobody: 7:20pm On Mar 15, 2015 |
I have mouth pain which goes on and off. what can be the cause of this? |
Re: Doctor in the House: Free Medical Advice Available by Nobody: 11:25am On Mar 16, 2015 |
hungryboy: Are you young and healthy otherwise then or? So I assume you had malaria then? It could be that malaria is not yet eradicated from your blood. It could be side effects of drugs; if so, it will pass. Yellow pee, dry throat and feeling hungry? Also, rule out diabetes. I'd say go and obtain a blood test: CBC with differentials and peripheral blood smear to check presence of malarial parasites. Also obtain serum glucose levels. Best |
