18 Billion big ones for himself but going round the country shouting "change". Imagine if he was a PDP governor?

The workers are getting "change" as salary.
My dear its not only him o, in Benue State workers has not been paid by the Suswan led administration since October 2014 and Suswan is a PDP governor, today 12th March 2015 the Benue state University is currently on strike to protest non payment of salaries, this isues has nothing to do with PDP or APC some governors are just hartless and foolish I wonder how they get the boldness to ask citizens to vote their party when they are not doing the most common thing which is payment of salaries

And Reno forgot to tell the world that PDP controlled state, Plateau has equally not paid its workers 5 months salaries. Some civil servants have not been paid for 2years now all in the name of biometrics. Jang is the chairman governors forum & also a PDP governor.

So what do you want Aregbesola does while FG withheld the state allocation or slash down the allocation, people think before you talk. Country people wise up, Jonathan is a failure to this nation.

Tension in Bayelsa over proposed salary cut

By Igoniko Oduma (Yenagoa) and Patience Ogbodo-Iwuagwu (Bauchi)

Trade unions in Bayelsa State have vowed to resist any attempt by the state government to cut their members’ wages.

This position is coming on the heels of recent alarm raised by the state Governor, Seriake Dickson, that his administration may slash the salaries of workers because of sharp drop in revenue allocation to the state from the Federation Account.

Dickson had raised the alarm on March 6 that the recent economic downturn in the country had taken its toll on revenue accruing to the state.

He spoke at the Government House, Yenagoa, after signing into law the state’s N332 billion budget for the year, according to a statement by his Chief Secretary, Daniel Iworiso-Markson.

The Governor had said the revenue allocation to the state in the past months had dropped precariously by N5 billion.

He called for belt tightening in the face of what he described as “terrible decline inflow from the Federation Account”.

Dickson gave example of Cross River and Benue states, which, he said, “are among states in the federation that have taken steps to cut salaries by half owing to the grim economic downturn”.

Reacting to the Governor’s statement, leaders of the workers’ unions said slashing of workers salaries would not be acceptable.

“I think the Governor wants to test the will of workers in the state”, Beke Sese, Chairman of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Niger Delta University, Amassoma, said.

“The policy of this government had always targeted the salaries of workers. The other time, the government deducted the salaries of workers through over taxation. We are still struggling to recover from that shock,” Sese added.

He said it was “unthinkable and unacceptable” for the state government to “target the meagre salaries of workers”, stressing that “congress will look into it”.

Also reacting, state Chairman of the Trade Union Congress (TUC), Tari Dounana, said the state government may not cut the salaries of workers as the Governor merely stated it to sensitise the workforce because of the grim economic realities.

Dounana stated, however, that should government go ahead with the austerity measure, it would be imperative for it “to cultivate the spirit of collective bargaining for the way forward”.

“If we don’t cultivate that spirit, then we want to cause anarchy in the system. He (Governor) cannot just go ahead and make that statement and think that he can implement it.

“As I said earlier, we should cultivate the spirit of collective bargaining. Nobody has the monopoly of leadership and governance”, the TUC boss added.

In his terse reaction, an official of the Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria (ASCSN) in the state who pleaded for anonymity, urged the state government to “look inwards and adjust its political spendings” rather than tampering with the salaries of workers.

He warned that the association would mobilise its members to shut down the state if government went ahead with the proposal.

In a related development, the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has lamented delay in the payment of February salaries of workers by the state government.

The delay of February salary is not unconnected with the plan of state government to deduct 10 per cent from workers pay due to dwindling resources.

This was contained in a statement signed by the state NLC Chairman, Hamisu Muhammmad Gital, and his Trade Union Congress (TUC) counterpart, Usman Muhammed, in Bauchi on Tuesday.

The unions regretted that the delay was due to the inability of the workers and the state government to resolve the planned deduction of 10 per cent of workers salary.

The statement appealed to workers in Bauchi State to remain calm as the Organised Labour was doing everything possible to resolve the issue to protect the interest of the workers.

sorry for your dense thinking. You just admitted that Osun state is not viable and cannot survive on its own (a wrong assumption). Aregbesola has succeeded in calling Osun people fools and instead of standing up against that insult, you gave him a standing ovation. Sorry for you once again

I don't know why these PDP boys are crying about Aregbe. Federal govt still owes some agencies and pensioners and most PDP governors are still owing their workers till now. Benue,Kogi and Plateau are worst cases in the country and these are PDP states owing between 6 months and 9 months. Osun has 35000 state workers whose salaries monthly amount to 3.6 billions. Allocations are released late every month and when released Osun gets maximum of 1.1 billions with igr of 1.5 billions, how on earth will salaries be paid without issues? The truth of the matter is that Osun has never had it so good under any administration since creation. Aregbesola is still the best. However, the workers plight is understood, not only in Osun but in the country as a whole. You need to see the protest they are talking about. About 200 workers out of 35000 workers came out for the protest. It is unfortunate that we politicize all issues and fail to to say the truth.

From your figures I obtained NGN 102,857.143 as the average amount of money paid to an Osun state worker. It's is clear that people on the lower grade pay, like teachers, are more in the state so I can't fathom who gets the bulk money that averaged their pay to NGN 102,857.143. Who are the high earners? Is it the ones working with Aregdesola?

Even as it's a general thing, I don't see other state govs owing their workers jumping from one state to another and campaigning for GEJ. It shows that he's simply an insensitive leader and doesn't care if his people live or die. I real/true leader will always be close to his people in times of trouble but Aregbesola prefers to pursue a deafited course and throwing change from the top of a bus to Lagosians.

He's definitely a good symbol of change.
