How As Head Of State, Buhari Literally Starved University Students In Nigeria by Nobody: 8:57am On Mar 13, 2015 |
Fellow Nigerians, Buhari’s campaign portrays him as a man who is a visionary, a man who is going to uplift society, a man who is going to bring light to darkness, growth to decay and be a huge ray of sunshine on a rainy day. Nothing could be further from the truth, for Buhari is the living embodiment of doom and gloom. As Head of State, his destructive persona did not spare a single vibrant national institution. One of the hardest hit segments was the educational sector, even in areas as mundane as feeding students, Buhari brought destruction. Here is a story from the New Nigerian, from Friday June 14, 1985, 18 Months into Buhari’s Tenure. Titled ‘Meals Now A Luxury’ it states inter alia: “Three square meals have become a luxury in the nation’s institutions of higher learning. This followed the withdrawal of food subsidies by the Federal Government. Mr. Godfrey Dale, President of the University of Port-Harcourt Students’ Union told the NN Parley that most students now make do with one or a fraction of a meal a day. Giving details, the student leader said students had coined phrases such as 010 or 001. “010 means breakfast zero, eat lunch, dinner zero, 001 stands for breakfast zero, lunch zero and eat dinner,” Mr Godfrey Dale explained adding that 011 is for those “buoyant enough to have two meals.” “Also as a result of the hard times, more students are forgoing the luxury of eating meat with their meals while others virtually live on “bread and ice water.” Mr. Dale said. He lamented that life on the campus was very hard and that students “are now actually eating crubs.” He said many students were compelled to become vegetarians. …(He said) things were made worse for students by the government’s decision to make their parents shoulder responsibility for tuition and accommodation. He stressed that in view of the rising unemployment, it was difficult for parents to take up such additional responsibilities. “They are now telling our parents to pay school fees, they are asking them to cater for our accommodation, they are no more subsidizing food. Where are we going to get all this money?” Here is the article in question: Being a semi illiterate himself, it is no surprise Buhari had no problem destroying the tertiary education sector, with many of his negative legacies still a part of it today. Interestingly enough, as bad as Buhari claimed the Shagari government was, by the time Buhari was booted out, Shagari’s era was perceived as having been infinitely better for the average Nigerian. Rewarding Buhari, a deacon of destruction with the presidency, is like rewarding a drunkard who pissed on your carpet with an additional bottle of whiskey. It’ll make him happy, but won’t bode well for you. Thanks you for reading, God bless you and God bless Nigeria. The headline on the newspaper contradicts what the OP said........why not follow your consciencebut because the posters above me are blinded by their hatred for buhari they seem not to read and comprehend easily or maybe they know the truth but just decided to pretend just for their own selfish reasons, that is what 1000naira glo recharge cards can do to an adult, poverty na disease....those that studied in the universities during the buhari's regime know the truth and know that the op is not well informed or did not go deep into the issue because he does not want to be caught with his lies,so no matter what you say on this thread you are just deceiving yourself.... Kola4uniadgog:No food for lazy man...Even in america, students who does not have parents or guardian to sponsor their education will have to start doing part time job so that they can continue their studies at the same time and that is why some students are happy overthere because they have the opportunity to work and study...so??are you saying the american government are insensitive too??even in freetown not everything is free justme002:Any youth that know about "then" and "now"will know that life was very much better during that time,do you know that goods and services were very cheap at that time?? do you know how nice the economy was then?do you know how low the poverty rate was then??do you know how cheap education was during that time??do you know you can feed yourself three times a day with just 100 naira during that time??do you know we had working refineries then??do you know that dollars was equal to the naira then??do you know how cheap fuel was during that time??do you know how some terrorist group were wiped away from our country during that time??do you know corruption was very very low during that time??I guess you know all this but pretended not to know or maybe you were not born by then.... |
