Naijasinglegirl:
Thank you guys for your comments, thank you Nairaland for the feature. I'm so humbled.
Meanwhile, you won't believe this lady is still jobhunting. Maybe if I influenced my service to Lagos, I would have probably been dating one rich boy I met in camp who would have introduced me to his NNPC father in Abuja for that dream job. Hehe
Can you imagine after all those early morning drills, I have never attended a job interview where I have been asked to 'march' in or stand at attention while I answered questions. NYSC is funny.
Please don't forget to visit my blog.

Happy weekend.

You didn't tell them about the taboo on digging wells in Umudi and those young hustlers asking to do your laundry. And the older ones who came to give boring bottom lecturers under the canopy in front of OBS.

I think the camp you didn't wanna mentioned is the NCCF house. I learnt they don't go on first name basis there. It is brother this and sister that undecided

You're a budding talent, I wish you all the best!

Haba na!What of people like us that served in Sokoto.Have you heard of farfaru camp before? cheesy

I remember how we were asked to do 100 frog jump for Yar'adua as president then simply because they(soldiers)felt we were proud corps members. grin The three weeks we spent in that camp was like three years I swear. embarassed

I really enjoyed your story naijasinglegirl. wink

So, people still pay for placement? Got about 3 peeps who wanna influence mine for me for free(Kaduna, Niger, Taraba or Nasarawa on my mind) But that altering of destiny is what my mama is concerned about. She be like, i'm praying to God and he'll influence ya posting a place which'll favor you. You musn't influence it. But what if her prayers land me in Abia or Ebonyi?

If its Abia, you better go. There are multinational firms like Nigerian Breweries, Unilever, PZ etc in Aba, though its a pity about the state of roads there.
You must be from the north for wishing for Taraba (rolls wide open eyes).

Awesome write up.

Those who pay for that posting runs mostly always get scammed. Funny enough you'll see some people with mad connections who won't even pay a dime.

All in all, you've served your fatherland. In the end, that's all that matters.
Just like me......I didn't a pay a penny. Thanks to my friend's uncle .

@Op, you funny die, lolz.
Your description of your NYSC uniform had me laughing very loud because I remembered some ladies who had similar problems when we were in camp; those ladies reported late to camp and had to make do with the over-sized uniforms left and ended up looking like inflated dolls.
Your articles can be turned into comedy skits, have you tried getting a producer to read through them?

Lagos very funny...I've intentionally kept mute on that thread make dem go waste dr money if them like, I'll come back to dat thread after dr mobilizations to know how

far..Naija ppl always trying to get things @ridiculously cheap price and when dey get swindled they cry foul & swear for everyone in the business both d good & d bad even

though they had d chance of patronizing d real one...This man did it for me, he did it for my friend & his name came out TWICE!!! for Abuja sef...he is d type of person that

will tell you what he can't do cos he doesn't want bullshyte...2013 den it was 40k ds one payed 30k in 2014 why won't you get duped...now another one is saying 25k in

2015. Expecting another storytelling after your mobilizations. Una get money to dash liars...Once again 60k last and you'll get posted to anywhere you desire in ds

Wonderful narration, with an expert mix of humour.

For me camp wasn't as terrible, we had toilets and bathrooms but we still prefered the bush and open air....

The food wasn't so good but manageable, my must difficult time was registration..... that was when I discovered that some Nigerian graduates can't write; filling the damn form was a harculean task.

And the event I dreaded most was the boring afternoon lectures..... as a sharp guy, the lecture period became my nap period, I devised a way of asking my flatmates (yeah flat, we had bathrooms & toilets enclosed...) to lock me up with padlocks from the outside.. and frequenting the camp clinic was another way of escaping parade, I had a strain ankle playing camp football (the best part of my camp experience), though it didn't deter me from playing in all the games... The strain had a way of coming back after the games but disappearing when we had games (if u know what I mean). We won the inter platoon camp tourney, we were good but had to out-bribe the referee, when we learned that our opponents had bribed him.

On the issue of tampering with destiny.... dunno if there is a correlation. Couldn't it be that you can be directed to influence (not necessarily with money) your posting by the spirit?

Anyways, I didn't want to tamper with mine, got posted to Maiduguri (b4 the Boko Haram-ish), was amongst the top earners (28k per month plus 9k+ allawi is surely cool for a corper). Got referral for my present Job from there

Same here.
We had toilets quiet alright but my short putting was way better.
Lectures were my nap time. I used to place my facecap on my face and sleep so no one will notice. There was a time I had to spread my nysc jacket on the floor to sleep. On one occasion, it began raining and rather than dismiss the boring lectures under d rain, we were forced to recite the 'under the rain, under the sun' part of the nysc anthem.
That was the height of it all. I started crying but no one noticed because it was a mixture of tears n rain on my face. It was fun all the same.

I am a Deltan. Yeah, I worked mine to Yenagoa, Bayelsa State 2 years ago. It turned to be the most miserable time of my life.

Had the worst experience a guy would ever get in all ramifications. NYSC should be scrapped!
Guy what happened now... you sound heartbroken during your NYSC

On the good side, I use to go swimming in concord hotel every saturday, I took a selfie with charly boy abi charlywoman, I rode a powerbike once, I bought nice bum shorts at douglas market, I had dinners at 4 seasons, I met a 15 year old at FUTO who was hell over heels in love with me, I travelled frequently without getting into trouble, I bought cheap mangoes in the market, I met lots of guys, I passed out successfully without an extension even though I attended CDS just 5 times. Hehe.

Most people become really excited when they heard that they can do something about their job, while some others won't.... You know those type that won't, they prefer to sit around watching TV, reading newspapers, gossiping , complaining instead of taking the opportunity to take care of themselves and their families.
If you are among those that would do something about their job take a look at this business video
