Lagos , as well as the rest of Nigeria is underpoliced.

The fact that robbers could easily strike was due to the diversion of policemen to provide security.

We not only need more Police for Lagos.....we also need a specialist tactical police unit....to deal with serious urban crime...like the SWAT teams in America and Russia's SPESTNAZ. We also need similar special purpose forces for the Army to tackle Boko Haram and the new , decentralized terrorist of the 21st century.

Yes it is good to laff....but the parlous state of policing in our country....to the point that an armed robber has more firepower than AK-74 wielding policemen as well as the under-policed nature of the area the bank was located tells me that our police is not ready for the 21st century. And it is a shame that we would rather laff than think about that.

And BTW....time to have a second look at state police....even those of us who oppose it.

Well...he did make the valid point that there were low numbers of Policemen in the neighborhood due to them being diverted away to provide security for the Presidential visit.

Also, it must be noted that these policemen were ordered from Abuja...not from Alausa.

And assuming that there had been enough policemen in the area....perhaps the fish seller would have been alive, not so.

Which leads to my point...the police has a serious problem in resources,human and materiel.
