it may not be the ram fault. May be a graphics detachment from the board. You'll need to reflow it, or use a lil old trick I'll post later.

Good afternoon all. I'm on the verge of taking a hard decision and I need your help because your advice will determine my final decision. I own a hp probook 450 G1 core i3, 4GB, 500 HDD... 2.40gh of processor speed. My bro is about getting a uk used laptop. Our family friend who imports UK used laptops who we've been waiting for his stocks, now his new stocks are mostly acers core i5 and my bro wouldn't take an acer laptop because he dislikes the brand (the tags them inferior). Now, my question is how good, durable and comon are acer laptops? Am about given my bro my 8month old HP which I bought brand new, to pick ono of these acers. Help me make a decision. I await your responds.

let's not format yet. Try there two softwares to remove the rootkit and if no joy, you'll have to copy out your files into an external hard disk, or another media like flash, dvd, etc, then you abandon ship and format. http://www.google.com/url?q=https://www.malwarebytes.org/antirootkit/&sa=U&ei=SbEFVYPXJceMmwX2yIHIBg&ved=0CBgQFjAB&sig2=gwKHSxzQ6Xg1Zu9a-j_juA&usg=AFQjCNHVit-dtyemaqAoVyVa-QbuGKsYpA http://www.google.com/url?q=http://www.mcafee.com/us/downloads/free-tools/rootkitremover.aspx&sa=U&ei=SbEFVYPXJceMmwX2yIHIBg&ved=0CBcQFjAA&sig2=WA7fHyZt_yMiqRTzszIgzQ&usg=AFQjCNH7eBlnMkuC9CHtuxwn_ty3Co1EXg

find a nylon bag capable of retaining the heat created by the laptop. Now make sure the power inlet is enclosed too. This done, power ur lappy and leave it to shut down by itself. The problem may be solved by so doing cos ur graphics card will overheat and hopefully get reflowed. Let's know how it goes...

skipped this problem earlier and failed to address it. It's highly regretted and not an act of cowering.
You have decided to install windows 8.1(with the start button) without addressing your keyboard. You'll have to either get an external keyboard (usb), or wait till you're certain of the purported inability of your keyboard's functionality. This said, you'll have to either get a windows 8.1 installation disc, or download the image file online, and burn it to a dvd. Follow these steps thereafter:
insert the disc,
start the computer
press the functional button (mostly f12 or esc) to enter the boot menu,
select the dvd drive, then at the prompt asking you to press any key to boot from cd, press a key.
*windows is loading files*
after that, choose 'install windows'
choose custom install (not upgrade),
click the drive partition you want to install windows on. (do not format the drive, i repeat, do not format the drive!)
click ok; a prompt should show you a message that your selected partition contains windows files already, just click ok.
Keep your fingers crossed (probably go and make tea and get some cookies),
*copying files*
*expanding files*
*installing features*
*installing updates*
*finalizing installation*
set the computer name, date, time, etc.
You should have the start menu pop up. Bravo! You made it cos you're a genius. Let me know when you get to this benchmark. I'll guide you through the next steps.
ok Bro, thanks, I will try tomorrow and get back to u.

Onegig and others, pls I've got a little ish with my laptop. It's a Brian Laptop.

When I power on, it gives a long and high beep sound that I have to depress any key to make it stop.

I also will have to press a key before it boots
After that, it functions well. All keys work as they should.

But after few seconds of booting, ALL keys cease.
I won't be able to use the laptop at all
Any clue?
The mouse also sticks.....bought an external mouse. Same problem

But it works well when I boot in safe mode

Urgent help please

the problem should be either from a malfunctioning driver, or a startup program, virus, or malware. Try logging into safe mode, then run msconfig, go to the startup tab and disable all the startup programs. Now reboot normally. If it works, then you'll have to enable them one by one till you figure out which one's faulty. Got my drift?
