The only time I will agree to work in Nigeria is when an agreement can be signed that I will earn more than Jonathan just like they agreed to pay South African mercenaries. Some even left their posts in Iraq to Nigeria where milk and honey were plenty.

Splashing money on mercenaries just to save your pride when millions of Nigerians live below the bread line. AU offered to help free and instead you are splashing money on foreigners to enforce your security. Shame!!!

Fact is, NO PROOF that they are SOUTH AFRICAN MERCENARIES, but surely those men in the convoy are foreigners, could be Russian, Belorussian, Romanian, Ukrainian, Israeli, etc working as technical trainers for our new equipment and weapons.

Nigerian government has said NO MERCENARY is fighting for Nigeria and I will take that as final authority. Yes, president GEJ said we have technical training teams from PMCs, so how do they move from their hotel room to training locations, by riding Keke Marwa or riding on Donkeys?

They are our visitors on contract duty and the best way to protect them is by giving them MRAPs to drive themselves and GPMG to protect themselves, Boko suicide bombers may want to harm them in town. We don’t have surplus troops to waste escorting them, so let them be armed to protect themselves. Seems like common sense in my opinion.

We have to use PMC training at home in Nigeria, no time to send soldiers and pilots overseas by withdrawing them from battlefield for overseas training. We are already at war. Weapons suppliers are supposed to provide training to the buyer, so nothing wrong in these things we see, it happens in America and Europe.

What I wonder is whether every white-man in this world is a South African, so why do people think those MRAPs men are South Africans? REVA MRAP is all over the world, and Nigeria could buy them and give to Russian PMC staff to drive around town on duty to our training and skills transfer locations.

We have a confirmed South African mechanic killed here by accident, why not? We bought South African vehicles and so we need South African mechanics for now until maintenance skills are transferred to us Nigerians.

Mechanic is NOT = Mercenary.

One works with spanner/screws, the other works with weapons/ammunition.

How do South African mercenary pilots qualify to fly modern NAF combat helicopters? How much flight hours do those mercenary ‘pilots’ clock in a year? Is it cheap to graduate and maintain combat qualified pilots?

Some people don’t even use their heads, do they know that South African bush war in Angola ended over 20 years ago? Those SADF special forces are old now ! Many of them are now aged about 45 to 65 years. Is that the age for field combat and running around in deserts, on hills, rocks, and forests? Human heart and lungs does not grow weak with age? Some people forgot their Biology.

Anybody who thinks 100 SADF old men mercenaries are fighting 10,000 Boko Haram terrorists on a land mass the size of Great Britain, should go and ask Seleka rebels why about 300 well armed South African army elite paratroopers and special forces combined ran at Usain Bolt Olympic speed from Bangui city to Bangui airport in record time, they left their Mortar carrier Gecko vehicles behind and forgot their uniforms in the base, French army at the Central African Republic airport was their saviour from the hands of just about 1,500 Seleka rebels.

Over 30,000 Nigerian troops are fighting Boko Haram and winning the war. Until there is 100% infallible proof of a fighting mercenary in Nigeria today, I take the president’s word and that of the Nigerian military officers as final and mercenaries remain mere phantoms….ghosts.

Mercenaries? NO! Just mere technical advisers on new weapons purchased

http://prnigeria.com/2015/03/so-called-mercenaries-are-technical-advisers/

Posted by PRNigeria">PRNigeria on March 13, 2015

Senior military commanders have described stories in major international media and culled by local newspapers reporting that Nigeria is deploying hundreds of mercenaries against Boko Haram terrorists as a joke taken too far. The officers insisted that the foreigners are technical advisers that are providing trainings and instructions on the use of new armaments recently procured by the Nigerian military in the war on terror. Some top commanders who spoke with PRNigeria without wanting their identities disclosed insist that it is part of propaganda to paint Nigerian military as incompetent to deal with the insurgency by desperately ascribing recent spate of successes to ‘others’ rather than the gallant troops’ efforts.

The source recalled that only recently, some news agencies ascribed such successes to Cameroonian, Nigerien and “battle hardened” Chadian forces but when it became obvious that the forces of those countries were mainly fighting along their own border areas blocking free movement of terrorists, “it became necessary to look for others” who are helping Nigerians to fight. PRNigeria gathered that the foreigners spotted in Maiduguri and other areas close to the theatre of wars are technical partners who are helping to train Nigerian forces on how to operate and maintain the recently acquired equipment which came from different sources.

The source further cited the particular example of the maintenance technician, who died recently insisting that he was not even a combatant but a professional in fixing armour vehicles. President Goodluck Jonathan was recently quoted in an interview with Voice of America (VOA) confirming that Nigeria has some trainers helping to get troops well acquainted with the recently acquired weaponry.

According to Jonathan, “we now have this technical people who are trainers and technicians, who are to train our people on how to use them, and technicians that help the maintenance, at the same time training our people how to maintain this equipment,” adding that two companies were involved in the training. The source recalled with regrets, the several years that Nigeria wasted while negotiating and appealing for equipment supply from the Western allies which were not only rebuffed but prevented other countries under their direct influence from selling to Nigeria.

“The fact that we have foreign experts outside the United States helping to train our troops is not a secret but it is not fair for them to embark on this blackmail simply because we got assistance from other places when they turned us down at a critical period”, the source stated. When contacted on the story that mercenaries are fighting the battle for Nigeria, the Director Defence Information, Major General Chris Olukolade said “Sorry, I don’t have anything about that claim. I just know that Nigerian military and security forces are putting in all their resources, training and experience acquired over the years to address the security challenges.

“Our neighbours operating under the auspices of the Multinational Joint Task Force are also backing our efforts from all our borders with them. We also have some offer of training and intelligence assistance from foreign countries. Some of these arrangements even predate the present operations.”

Yes I did, HMS Duncan, HMS Daring, etc http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HMS_Daring_%28D32%29

Looks like you did not finish high school, and you can only qualify to be a basic casual battery charger in Nigeria.

NATO ships have SSTD and it means Surface Ship Torpedo Defence, it is on HMS Duncan and many, very many other warships all over the world not just NATO, even in Asia under different manufacturer/brand types.

SSTD detects and destroys submarine torpedoes very easily...NOT only detection, it destroys submarine torpedoes....

"WASHINGTON (NNS) -- USS George H. W. Bush (CVN 77) conducted the first aircraft carrier-borne end-to-end at-sea test of the Surface Ship Torpedo Defense (SSTD) System, the Navy announced, June 6.

The Countermeasure Anti-Torpedo is being developed by the Pennsylvania State University Applied Research Laboratory (PSU-ARL). It is designed to locate, home in on and destroy hostile torpedoes. Over the four-day testing period, Bush engaged seven torpedo-like targets with seven Countermeasure Anti-Torpedoes. Designed to validate the end-to-end of the system, the testing proved successful.

This first end-to-end test of the SSTD System achieved several firsts: the first Torpedo Warning System detection of targets from a carrier, the first automatic detection and automatic targeting of an incoming torpedo target from a ship, the first launch of Countermeasure Anti-Torpedo from a carrier and the first end to end Torpedo Warning System and Countermeasure Anti-Torpedo system detection-to-engage at-sea test.

"It is gratifying to have these tests go so well," said Rear Adm. David Johnson, program executive officer, Submarines, whose portfolio includes the Undersea Defensive Warfare Systems Program Office. "The engineering involved to detect a hostile torpedo, process its direction, speed, depth, and then engage it with a carrier-launched Countermeasure Anti-Torpedo is impressive. I am confident that the fleet will be pleased with the results.

The SSTD detects torpedoes - that is all

While the SSTD is only really effective against ancient Soviet ERA torpedoes

Development of the SSTD helps cover a serious threat to major U.S. ships from Soviet-designed torpedoes initially developed in the 1960s, naval analyst Norman Friedman told USNI News.

And now the killer blow: The system that destroys the torpedoe is not in service:

NAVSEA has more testing for the SSTD system scheduled for this year and plans to have the CAT and TWS reach so-called initial operational capability by 2019 and Fleet wide adoption of the system by 2035.
http://news.usni.org/2013/06/20/navy-develops-torpedo-killing-torpedo

So, the facts remain unchanged: A South African Heroin Class submarine defeated an entire NATO task force

And again, I ask you show us a NATO warship armed with anti-torpedo countermeasures

NAVSEA has more testing for the SSTD system scheduled for this year and plans to have the CAT and TWS reach so-called initial operational capability by 2019 and Fleet wide adoption of the system by 2035.

So, the facts remain unchanged: A South African Heroin Class submarine defeated an entire NATO task force

And again, I ask you show us a NATO warship armed with anti-torpedo countermeasures
war and fantasy are two different things dude

What brain level stuff?

You cant even maintain your own equipment and need to spend millions importing mercenaries to do it for you

You are too dense to see that you only humiliate yourself

Okay that's it. Bumwipe, the Nigerian military operates an array of MRAPs and APCs prior to the purchase of the REVA vehicles. WE maintain those without outside. And same goes for our air frames, from combat jets to attack helicopters to ISR birds to UAVs and UCAVs. ALL Nigerians. You clowns were just called simply for the integration of the REVA MRAPS and probably the Gazelle LUH, and training under battlefield conditions, and NOT any combat roles. So stop spewing trash here.

Fantastic post. White combatants. What are they doing next to Nigerian Air Force assets. What are they doing? Still providing "training"? This is what we have been saying all along......foreign merecenaries have been providing military assistance to Nigerian armed forces. Simply because you are useless and overwhelmed. Keep denying it. Proof keeps building.

White combatants? Stepping into a Emergency Medical Helicopter? You have all lost your sense of reasoning! The only armed personel is the NA chap and his rifle. Copy that? cool cool cool

Malay Pig aka FighterPilot can't handle the reality. Bronze skin ... South African under the sun? Then our Russian partners will have a Black or Copper skin by MalayPig's assumption. cool cool cool
