Fixed! Delivered! Sorry, I was in a meeting when he first came and the person who handled the case wasn't the person I'd given instructions to. I feel awful! So glad it's taken care of now though. Good grief!

Please what do you suggest we do because we have already submitted the I-130.also the divorce was a dissolve decree issued by court.

Sounds to me like you should let USCIS know they should close that case, because the court divorce decree was not issued until AFTER you married your husband. If they approve the petition for some reason, it'll just be sent back for revocation once we see it here and look at the dates.

Good day vo, i got married in September last year to a US citizen, prior to that i had an american visa which i used 3 times.I live and work in nigeria and my husband will like me to have our baby in the US this year,i will like to know if having our baby in the US on his insurance will affect my future visa application.Because i do not intend to leave nigeria anytime soon. I also believe his filing for me might debar me from getting a visa for sometime if my visa expires, and my job might take me anywhere at any time. Kindly enlighten me VO.God bless you

Good day Sir, I married a US citizen here in Nigeria and I have wrong age on my passport (1982) I applied for i130 and they asked me to send request of evidence about my age, which I sent my birth certificate, the correct age is (1980) with other evidence to prove my correct age. My I130 was approved last month and my i129f was approved this month.. I received another update that my i130 case was sent to The Department of state for visa processing. Please do I have to get new passport and its going to take about 3 months or more to get new passport. I just want to know if I can still go for the interview with the same passport I use during the processing. Please, help me. This is very important.

One more question please, once the results of the medical are ready, can he bring them at any time, or only on Fridays?

Hello VO, please I will like to know if one is renewing his b1/b2 and can't remember his parents DOB that was initially filled can one just ignore the question by clicking on the not applicable box or fill in the DOB that he believes was likely to be used.

Thank you

Hi VisaOfficer,

Thank you so much for the re-assuring words. However, i will like to know if i am likely to be called before my proposed travel dates as the events i am going for is just around the corner, or do you think it might go beyond the date and if yes what are my chances if the event gets past.?

Regards

VisaOfficer:

It sounds to me like your case is under review, and as soon as whatever information they're verifying has been confirmed, they'll contact you to proceed with the case. I'd tell you not to worry but I know you will -- it's normal. Hang in there.

Good Morning VIsa Officer

You are helping a lot of us using this medium, I would like to find out why so many couples are placed under A P after years of waiting, so many people have said the Nigerian Embassy is known for not looking through applicants evidence before making a decision, how correct can that be? If a beneficiary of a family visa has strong evidence to proof relationship to the petition, then why would they be placed on AP, considering the several years of delay caused by the visa process. Are visa decisions based on a CO's feelings on laid down rules and regulations? I am asking so that you can reconfirm that each petition would be givin proper scrutiny and visas given as long as there are no red flags. Thank You.

Your passport should reflect your true date of birth. If not, we'll ask you to get a new passport anyway, so it's best to apply for one now.

He can either bring the results to the Consulate on a Friday or drop it off at the collection center any day by using the attached document.

Most people won't have their original tax documents because the originals have already been submitted to the IRS. The document that needs to be original and signed is the actual affidavit -- the I-864 or (for K visas) the I-134.

I asked my husband about what u asked we should do n he says he filed for the divorce way back in 2007 in newyork but when he was filing for the I-130 for us(me and our daughter), the lawyer asked him to get a divorce from the country the Marriage took place that is why the divorce is current but he has the one he filed in newyork.

Sounds like that lawyer might not be 100% familiar with the immigration process.

Thank You.

Each petition is given proper scrutiny. If the petitioner and the beneficiary have a qualifying relationship, and if the beneficiary doesn't have any ineligibilities, the beneficiary will get a visa.

We don't put a lot of faith in documents because any document can be faked. Also, sometimes in real relationships, people show up with fake documents because they don't think they have enough evidence to show us! So a document that looks real doesn't mean the relationship is real, and a fake document doesn't necessarily mean that the relationship is fake. We rely most heavily on the interview; if the beneficiary can't talk credibly about the relationship, that's when we start to have doubts.

It's also a problem for us if there's contradictory information. Sometimes we see immigrant visa applicants who claim to be unmarried, but they had two non-immigrant visa applications in which they claimed to be married with children. Then we have to figure out what the truth is.

It depends on the laboratory. My impression is that most labs send the results to us in much less than a month.
