lagos state residents registration agency (LASRRA) started as far back may 2013. Dey recruit in two batches den first batch wer those pple dat did volunteer work at eko 2012 and d gm den promise dem dat she will give dem job, so we 2nd batch is slot from lg and lcda tru lagos, so we did exam tru dragnet and we wer picked on merit at e learning at cms opp css bkshop. Dat is how it begin. We did d wkk on contract for one year, after dat some wer drop based on ur attitude to work y some continue up to dis present time. Presently gm said by last yr dat she can only staff two in each lg or lcda in lagos state. So odas will be lay off. So dat will happen very soon. Pertaining to d permanent card its suppose to be out because of some error in gender and oda things on the card is what is delaying it.

dey make btw 2-10k a day cheating customers too grin. some sell u air
Why will they not cheat! When we hire someone we expect to work and be effective but didn't pay well. U hire house help to take care of ur kids but u maltreat her, u already know what to get from such services. We all condemn Nigeria police to cos of corruption but we fail to address d frustration they r going thru @ work . May God help us all to have a right perspective to things in life and act right.

Dear GalaxyBlends, If I had my way, I would advise you not to accept such offer. One thing I'll just say is that you make sure you don't relax & get comfortable with the role.

Truth be told, 25K is a decent pay for that role. Compared to what some Teachers earn & what is ascribed to certain “Graduate” positions, 25K is a handsome pay for a Fuel Pump Attendant. If the Location is Lagos, your monthly income will be around 40K since you will be making 20naira, 50 naira or 100 naira(as the case may be) from sales to customers filling Jerrycans.

YES! This could carry you away and make you forget that is not your place. Please, always remember this.

Make sure you don't leave the job search community; keep applying, keep up with latest trends in the Search community & in d the Labour market.

Try and build a good relationship with your Supervisor & Manager as this will make it easy for you to honour job tests & interviews & still retain your attendant job.

No one knows how long you will stay in the filling station, but make sure you're doing something by the side( even if it's only once a week you'll have time for it). This is needed when an interview question pops up: “what have you been doing since you finished NYSC?”. It might not sound too good for you to tell a potential employer (during an interview) that you've been ONLY a Fuel Pump Attendant. This might be a better response: “I've been managing a small Baking Business & a few other engagements”. Within you, you know that the attendant job is what you are referring to as other engagements.

Like someone said earlier, you can get a solid network on the job.

Cheers

My little advice... Take it... Always go to work with your CV and cover letter... Then try giving it out among the wealthy ones that come to refill in your station... You never can tell what you could get from there...
On a side note, dressing smart and doing things a little diff frm the normal SSCE attendant might indirectly push you ahead... Goodluck...

Bro, ur advice aint near little at all. Great advice u'v given.

@OP, I would advice you take the job but always put your eyes on the job market. In all fairness #25k for such job is very decent compared to what other attendants are paid. I know someone who pays just #8k to attendants monthly. How sad!
One question for you:Are you going to work the full day or you share duty for half the day?

I'd rather smuggle drugs to Indonesia, intentionally get caught, get exectued and free myself from such miserable life than to work as a pump operator at a gas station with my B.Sc...trust me,its better than suicide grin cheesy

Correction....I'd rather earn that 8k and sit in an office looking well paid, responsible, and writing applications for other vacancies than to take such job that would do nothing but tarnish my self esteem.

I'm not saying u are wrong,that's just d way I see things.

Let me draw this to your attention bro..the #8k job is the same filling station attendant job but different companies. It's the same job as the one the OP is contemplating taking.
The only difference on the #8k job is that the attendants work either from 5am to 2pm or from 2pm to 11pm daily.
Real struggle in this country
