Would your dog even lick it in the first place? Too much chance of getting chlamydia and e.coli so I'd advice you feed the dog only raw meats and avoid eggs.
You can however grind up eggshells and mix in its food. This provides a source of calcium for the dog.

Still doesn't reduce chances of getting bacterial infections. Best to feed it cooked eggs if at all.

I fed my dog a diet of raw eggs for a month ( he was ill and would not eat, so i force fed him raw eggs morning and night for about a month) and it was ok.

If you read about raw egg feeding online you would notice that authors say that dogs are better equipped to handle d "bacteria" so it should not be a problem. Just make sure the eggs are properly washed (if u are going to let your dog eat the shells) if animals in the wild can eat carcass of animals after 2-3days (think of all d bacteria involved in decomposition) i dont see why eggs should be problematic.

Do your research. Im sure the advantages outweigh the risks. Goodluck.

this is someone i respect alot. nice writeup.
raw egg is good. as long as you deworm regularly.
but note: eggs have high cholesterol. dont overfeed.
milk is only good when your pet is a puppy. giving milk after 8wks isnt advisable

Raw eggs contain an enzyme which destroys an key vitamin (biotin) so it is wrong to give a dog raw eggs. You should fry the eggs. Fried eggs are safe and dogs love them. The same applies to most fish e.g. Shawa, catfish, tilapia which contain an enzyme that destroys thiamine. Atlantic Mackerel fish (aka "original Titus"wink is the only fish sold in Nigeria that my research suggests is safe to feed raw. Cooking food doesn't destroy its nutritional value for dogs. The heat destroys vitamin C, but dog's don't need vitamin C in their diet because they can synthesise it. The water-soluble vitamins in cooked food will leak into the water used to cook it, while fat-soluble vitamins will leak into oil used to fry food, so make sure the water/oil used to cook/fry your dog's eggs/fish/chicken is added to your dog's food too. I hope you find this information useful.

"Egg whites cause Biotin deficiency – Egg whites contain avidin, a Biotin (one of the B vitamins) inhibitor. Biotin is one of the B vitamins and is important for cellular growth, fatty acid metabolism and good skin and coat. Biotin deficiencies are quite rare and it would take an extraordinary amount of eggs to create a deficiency. Moreover, egg yolks are very high in biotin, so as long as you feed the entire egg, there are few worries. There are other sources of biotin in the diet as well. Liver is a particularly good source. Once again, cooking the egg white will eliminate the risk but your dog will lose much of the nutritional value. If feeding your dog eggs on a regular basis, simply make sure he gets the whole egg, not just the white."

I still think the advantages outweigh the risks @seun
And even if the egg must be processed i would still advice boiling instead of frying.

On the contrary, if fries arent too good for human, why dogs? raw eggs are natural diets. if you cant handle worms, boil it. but do not boil for long.

Interesting read I've gone through. I'm not too knowledgeable on the micro nutritional values though I know that raw eggs have to be handled with care. Like I said I do mix with milk and give to a puppy. I note prodigee's advice of not doing that beyond the 8th week though. I'll do some research to know why.

"As you mention, eating raw eggs carries the eventual risk of a biotin deficiency. Although egg yolk is actually a rich source of biotin, the white contains avidin, a glycoprotein that bonds with biotin, preventing the nutrient’s absorption. Avidin is generally inactivated when cooked, which makes the biotin in the yolk fully available for absorption by the body. You don’t have to rule out raw eggs by any means. I wouldn’t advise eating them daily for long stretches of time without a biotin supplement (supported within a B-complex intake, since these vitamins work synergistically). If you’re eating them just a few times a week, the risk for deficiency isn’t as great, but I would still do a supplement or at least make sure I was getting a hefty amount of biotin rich food (swiss chard, tomatoes, carrots, liver and others) the days I eat raw eggs. As a compromise, some folks will just eat the raw yolks alone and cook up the whites later."

"There are two problems with giving your dog raw eggs. The first is the possibility of food poisoning from bacteria like Salmonella or E. coli. The second is that an enzyme in raw eggs interferes with the absorption of a particular B vitamin. This can cause skin problems as well as problems with your dog's coat if raw eggs are fed for a long time."

I suggested frying because my dog does not like to eat eggs unless they are fried. Boiled eggs are very low in calories which is great if your dog needs to lose weight, or if the eggs are mixed with something else that contains a lot of calories. Fried eggs provide more calories.

I feed my Lhasa Alpso puppy of 6weeks raw egg and milk last night and it was so over active that I became scared.
Jumping and biting my hands, disturbing everyone around the house too.
Hard to go hide the remaining on his plate cos it was scary.

Get a room.

Anyways, I wanted to say that raw eggs saved two of my puppies from Parvo virus. I know I'm sounding very controversial, but you can check my profile for the story, I posted full details across several pages on nairaland hoping to save a dog/s.

Here is the summary. In 2020, I had delivered a set of 7 puppies before traveling. When I returned one month later I was told all the puppies were poisoned and that only one was still alive and struggling for his life. I picked that puppy from the back of the house and brought it to the front yard where the other dogs were. Then I gave it one raw egg, one capsule of cod liver oil, and milk. It wasn't opening its mouth or even eating anything, so I used a syringe to inject it into his mouth. And the very next morning, this dog was spotted eating from a large bowl with the other dogs (these were local breeds, they were in at the place were I did youth service). I was not a vet doctor, just a dog lover. So at the time, I didn't know it was parvo.

Now, on the 24th December 2022, I came home to see one of my Eskimo pup, the only male, lying in his own vomit, a clear liquid. To be honest it looked dead and infectious. I couldn't even touch it with my bare hands. I picked it up, took it to the parlor and washed and dried it, and guess what? Gave it raw egg, cod liver oil, and water with a syringe. In less than two hours, it was walking around the parlor. Something that was paralyzed on both front feet.

As I stepped out to change from my work clothes, I saw the sister on the spot where he had thrown up. She too got paralyzed on both front feet, threw up and was looking dead from her head to half her body. I picked her, went to the parlor and did same thing. I isolated the remaining three and got someone to mop the whole passage.

And I went ahead to give the other three raw eggs, water and cod liver oil with syringe. I didn't want to take chances. Guess what? None of them came down with the virus again. The sister that was down looked like she wouldn't make it even up till the morning, but by morning I gave her syringes of water (4 syringes) and she was running about like the brother.

Did I mention the first puppy started eating boiled egg that same night? The remaining that he didn't drink, I boiled and he had appetite to eat. Same with the girl.

Today is 29th December 2022, all 5 pups are super healthy and tormenting my life with fun! And the one from 2020 made full recovery, actually got fat and became a stubborn boy.

I am not a vet or specialist or anything. I don't have expert knowledge of egg or water and parvo. But I know 3 dogs I literally brought back from the dead with raw egg, cod liver oil and water.

That is all I have to contribute

No,do not feed your dog raw egg, in puppies feeding raw egg causes diarrhea (speaking from practical experience, not theory).

You can parboil the egg,not bad.
