My sister saw well after many years in the capital town of Abeokuta last week; it was amazing. Despite this wonder, Ogun state is still one of the fastest growing states in Nigeria. Many companies/industries are being located there and also new universities.

Abeokuta is diff coz it's d state capital......go to other towns in Ogun nd see urself

i totally agree with the op with little corrections here and there; below are undoubtedly the fastest developing states in nigeria based on the following basis: industrialization(employment generation), overall infrastructural development(state-wide), educational facilities and performance, health facilities etc.

1 Ogun
2 Anambra
3 Akwaibom
4 kano
5 Oyo
6 Abia (though the governor failed on the overall infrastructural development)
I do agree with this list too, anambra should definately come b4 aks in terms of industrialization, still wondering why enugu should be there, enugu capital city is the only developed area, how many lgs do we have within the city? Please to further more,we all know kano and oyo are commercialised and big city right from time, abia would have been competing with anambra if only they have a brilliant gov,I just hope akwa ibom state projects over the years will bring in commercialization and industrialization.

Still no single classroom built by Akpabio after 8 years in office and largest budget in Nigeria.

No new school

No new hospital

No new health centers

No waterworks

No skills centers

Nothing. Just 1 cinema, 1 football field and 1 library..

Akwa Ibom people don suffer grin

^^^You do sound quite daft at times!

Maybe if Nigeria had concentrated much resources in developing Old Cross River and present day Akwa Ibom the way they did with Lagos, giving it preferential treatment like was done with Lagos.....then and only then would you have a case! Lagos has had a 3 decade head-start on Akwa Ibom, and Akwa Ibom has to start from ground-zero.....from the starting blocks as it were!

If you had any idea what the vision and long-term economic plans for the state were, you wouldn't be on here making a complete arsse of yourself!

Given where the state was 16 years ago, compared to where it is now, i'd say a very big kudos to the state, and in my estimation they deserve a spot among the top 5 fastest developing states in Nigeria!

Akwa Ibom got to where it is today that it is impossible to mention or talk about nigerian Development in the past 8yrs without mentioning Akwa Ibom because of hard work by the state government not propaganda.

Akwa Ibom has tarred 1900 km of roads the most by any state government in the history of Nigeria, Not propaganda pictures of roads on internet but real roads that Nigerians are witnesses to. Fashola has not tarred even 1/4 of 1900 km even including his paver stone roads that he is fun of building at an astronomically high N1bn per Km awarded to Tinubus construction coy.

Akpabio has built and completed 38 bridges linking 76 communities in Akwa Ibom which residents and visitors use for free with no tolls, fashola has built just one bridge in 8yrs and residents are paying double taxes in form of toll to use it even as the road leading to the bridge is incomplete.

Akpabio has built 5 new general hospitals in LGA that had none and renovated all the ailing General hospitals in all the 31 LGA in Akwa Ibom that is catering for the health need of Akwa Ibomites, not the 2 propaganda pictures of renovated maternal child hospitals that you keep posting on Nairaland,

Akpabio has built one of the best tertiary and referral hospitals in the country with over 480 bed spaces that dwarf all the bed spaces of the few hospitals that fashola has built in 8 yrs. the hospital will be commissioned immediately after presidential election so that Mr president can do it by himself since he is busy with campaigns at the moment.

Akpabio has built the best E- library in west africa not the propaganda picture you post on nairaland of a renovated old library that was hurriedly named and e library thats only an e - library by sign post not in substance and cannot even seat 50 people at once for 20 million residents in lagos.

Akpabio has built a brand new bi- campus state university which will graduate its first set of students this year, fashola has built zero university but rather has made the state owned university to become the exclusive reserve for the rich by pricing out poor students of lagos from university education with astronomically high tuition and fees. fashola went to university of benin for free due to government policy.

Akpabio has built a modern Airport that four airlines Arik, Aero, Dana, and discovery air all fly daily scheduled flights in and out of uyo,Most older airports in the country are struggling to get one airline to carryout scheduled flight and meanwhile lekki airport is still a pipe dream.

Akpabio beats all the APC governors hands down on all counts in real and tangible project, the only time the APC governors win is when its on imaginary projects like lagos cable cars, lekki airport etc and on falsehoods and propaganda pictures like the ones you are a purveyor of.

We shall leave the verdict for Nigerians to pass come march 29 and April, If APC and lagos has done enough Nigerians will return them to office by voting overwhelmingly for them. Beyond your propaganda pictures Nigerians will see through them an determine if it is enough for Nigeria or lagos!

1. Regardless where you get your money from or what treatment you are getting, what states work and build with is their yearly budget and it's on record that Akwa Ibom posts the largest budget in Nigeria and their population is only 5 million while Lagos with lower budget is 20 million.

2. Fashola and Akpabio assumed office same year and have both spent 8 years in office so this is not about head start or what happened in Lagos before Fashola, this is a head to head comparison between both governors and their 8 years in office.

3. There is no reason why the state with lower budget commissions projects everyday while the one with the largest budget sits idle year after year.

Tell me why the state with the largest budget in Nigeria have only 1 football field, 1 library and cinema as completed projects apart from the few roads in uyo? Even the football field aka white elephant is sitting down lying fallow with zero activity or any income generating effect.

Stop lying lagos is the 7th largest economy in Africa with GDP that exceeds several countries like ghana, ethiopia etc yet it is underperforming.
Akwa Ibom's economy does not even come close to that of lagos yet it has out performed lagos state in every governmental developmental indices.
Stop making excuses.

what lagos gets from Internally generated revenue monthly is more than Akwa Ibom's 18% oil derivation + IGR.

who is chino? we are talking about fastest developing states and not fastest prostitution developing states. you are silly and a pathetic fellow for mentioning imo state on this thread. its an insult to mention imo state when we are talking of economically viable states. if i may ask you what do you think that is taking people to imo state? are there jobs in imo state? has any new company opened in imo state apart from one or two moribund ones? the op did not mention imo state on his list because he is a realistic person. for your information there is no development in imo state unless you are talking of 'prostitution development' i had agree with you. so nobody is pained nor envious because there is nothing there to envy about.tongue

^^^You prove your ignorance, immaturity and embittered nature with each subsequent post!

Fool, do i have to spell it out to you that: AKWA IBOM STARTED FROM GROUND ZERO IN 1999, WHILE LAGOS NOT ONLY HAS HAD A 3 DECADE+ HEAD-START, BUT HAS ALSO RECEIVED TARGETED, UNFAIR AND CRIMINAL ADVANTAGE OVER OTHER STATES/REGIONS SINCE THE LATE 60S!

After the uncivil war, there was meant to be the 3Rs for the area formally known as the Eastern Region, to help rebuild its war ravaged economy and cities, but near fuc'kall was done! Even Governor Akpabio has in the recent past asked if anyone knows what exactly was done for the war ravaged areas after the war.....he's yet to get an answer! Meanwhile Gowon (that said he had too much money to the extent he didn't know what to do with it) was focusing mainly on Lagos (and to a lesser degree the North)! It was during this period that modern day Lagos was built! After Gowon, Murtala and Obasanjo continued the policy of making Lagos the main federally assisted industrial and commercial hub (with kaduna and Kano coming a close second)! This wicked and selfish policy that favored Lagos brought about most of what you see today that have served as enablers to kick-start its economy and give it serious traction to maintain and solidify its position as the nations preeminent economic powerhouse! With a thriving economy, Lagos now became a magnet for job seekers, businessmen and fortune-hunters from the other regions suffering neglect and deprivation! The expansive road network, bridges, flyovers, arts theatre, national stadium, international airport, the teeming population, the valuable real estate, the numerous multinational companies, the tourists, the two sea ports, the huge IGR.....all these are the end result of the shenanigans of conniving selfish bastards like you who think Nigeria starts and ends in your neck of the woods; other areas like the Niger Delta are only good for supplying the never ending stream of oyel revenue!

How you can sit down there and compare Lagos (which was and is sustained by the commonwealth and effort of the entire country and its ethnicities) with a relatively New Akwa Ibom that's starting almost from scratch shows how shameless and thickheaded you really are!

To start with, are you really reetarded or you are just playing dumb and rretarded?

We are not talking about what was in Lagos before Fashola, we are talking about what fashola did within his own 8 years and what Akpabio did within his 8 years.

Both entered office same year and spent 8 years in office. Fashola did not commissioned anything before his time so what silly 3 decades are you talking about? Fashola built all the schools he built, the housing estates, the 15 water works, the 30 skills centers, the 10 health centers, the new hospitals, the roads, the bridges, the power plants, the courts, library and state institutions and so on 3 decades ago?

Please keep quiet with that roadside ignorant ramblings. Must you people really think and talk as if you walk on your brains?

2 governors

Same 8 years and you are sitting here shouting about 3 decades ago? Please lay off the ganja or go sit somewhere if you have nothing sensible to talk about.

Fashola's 8 Years And Gej/FG/All PDP State's 16 Years Record. Compare. PICS...

https://www.nairaland.com/2180887/fasholas-8-years-gej-fg

Even Fashola's 8 years beat your FG/PDP/GEJ's 16 years...

^^^^ Nothing in that thread was done before Fashola or 3 decades ago.

Akpabio is a scam, that man up there ujoinme is his paid agent on here,
8yrs and what does he have to show for it,
an over priced stadium,
Completion of an airport Attah started,
Tarring roads in his Abak/ikot ekpene constituency and renovating a few in uyo,
With the highest state budget in this country,
He didn't remember to bring in investors to help make the aluminium plant at ikot abasi function again,
And he just woke up this year to perform a groundbreaking ceremony for the ibaka seaport,
Akpabio, the thunder that will fire u is still doing press up

let me borrow @ igboson term shameless and thickheaded to describe you, If you have not seen what Akpabio has done in 8yrs then you are of most men most blind! Thank god Nigerian have seen, 1900 km of road network and counting na beans? tell me how many states have done that?
Has he tarred and dualized all the major roads leading to Uyo the state capital Yes.
Uyo - itu Calabar dualized road is that in Ikot ekpene SD?
UY0- Nung udoe dualized road is that in Ikot Ekpene SD,
Uyo - Nwaniba Beach Dualized road is that in Ikot Ekpene SD?
The ring road 3 with the dualized flyover leading to the stadium is that in IK SD?
Uyo - Idoro Abak road with 3 concentric flyover is that in Ikot ekpene SD?
and many more too numerous to mention.
When Attah was governor for 8 yrs how many roads did he tar in Ikot ekpene SD? You cannot begrudge Akpabio for tarring roads in his SD afterall charity begins at home and Uyo SD has benefitted a lot in terms of road network. Power is turn by turn Now that power is rotating to Eket SD i wanna see many dualized carriage ways in Eket SD, hotels etc over there as far as it is done in Akwa Ibom It is well with our state.

An over priced stadium you call it and yet amongst the other 23 world stadiums that were nominated for the World best stadium prize for 2014 Uyo Stadium at $96 million cost price was the least expensive of all the stadiums under the same capacity and category http://stadiumdb.com/competitions/stadium_of_the_year_2014 even Amaechi substandard stadium cost more $127million https://www.nairaland.com/2128704/how-gov-amaechi-defrauded-rivers APC stealing money since 1 BC

Is it Akpabios job to bring investors for Alson that is owned by the FG? When was the ibaka seaport ground breaking ceremony performed? you are as thickheaded, shameless and hungry as they come

Gbam , I @ujoinme personally endorse this post. LoL grin grin grin grin grin more grease to your elbow @igboson

You can not show us what doesn't exist and we can not see what doesn't exist.

There is a reason why you keep talking and talking but won't show us anything.

Look here, maybe you are too slow to figure out how things work.

Governments pass budgets based on their priorities and projects to be awarded and worked on and there is nothing beyond what I've listed in any budget they've passed so stop making up BS.
