Actually he is telling the truth...

Ethiopia: Testing begins on Addis Ababa LRT

Public services are due to begin in May on the 34km two-line network, which was constructed by China Railway Group.

CNR Changchun, China, has supplied a fleet of 41 70% low-floor vehicles, which have a maximum speed of 70km/h.

China is financing 60% of the $US 400m light rail project, with the remainder coming from the Ethiopian government.

In defense of the Nigerian Govt.....the project we are building is not a light rail.....it is a proper railway that crosses several states.....and we are modifying several lines.(and building a new rail link between Abuja and Kaduna). Hence the higher cost re Nigeria.

The rail system in Ethiopia is being constructed JUST for the Adis Ababa metro area......while our railway project not only involves the revival of several old railway lines.....but the construction of new ones....including the(nearly completed) Abuja-Kaduna rail link(which may eventually also include a light rail project for Abuja...but that's in the future) and a (proposed) rail-link between Lagos and Abuja. Hence the higher cost.

Also, the Ethiopian project is mainly financed by the Chinese....60% of the cost is paid for by the Chinese govt.Of course...that kudi would have to be repaid sometime....but that is another story!(That is why Buhari cancelled Lagos Metro....it might have involved a loan of at least $78million....which we could not afford.Had Buhari completed Lagos Metro....we would have been paying back that loan...in the form of higher prices ).

I am not a PDP fan....but comparing a intra-city light rail project(Ethiopia) to a major railway project spanning several cities and villages(Nigeria) is like comparing apples and oranges.

That is why our railway project costs $12bn....while Ethiopia's costs $475million.

It a pity that corruption had eating this deep in the system. 80% of awarded contracts, someone must benefit even more than the contract itself.
PDP is a failed government and APC is a disaster in waiting. Of all the learned men in APC, what they offered me is an old man who hardly remember things.
For now I will stick with GEJ

Jonathan depleted our excess crude oil account and foreign reserve to provide meager social amenities and some people come here everyday to shout his praises. GEJ remain most corrupt Nigeria president ever. In fact Abacha would be turning in grave for having his record surpassed by a bloody civillian.

You are comparing two projects that are not equal in distance.

Ethiopia 34km $475m
Nigeria 1126km $12b
