About gripe water; My ped in the USA said that it has ingredients that has not been approved by FDA while the ped in Naij said it has ogogoro.

I still went ahead and gave my baby when I was at my wits end with colic. She reacted negatively to it and developed black hairy tongue.

Gripe water, bitter kola,paracetamol for a baby is aa NO NO, dats y u r asked not to tell ur doc cos they knw dey won't agree to it. We don't even prescribe multivites in my hosp and neva used for my kids, exclusively bosom fed them and they drink water well, either u bosom fed or not children grow differently.
Pls b careful ao u approach d matter wit mil, u can talk to ur hubby and let him take over in discussing wit her. The baby system is nt matured for all dose tinz oo I beg.
Even excessive paracetamol use in adults have side effects and sum pple even don't tolerate it nt to talk of babies.

Please give INFACOL instead of gripe water. Infacol can be given from birth but gripe water cant if u read the pack.

Mothers pls listen to this. There is really no need for all these stuffs we are giving to babies, agreed it may not harm them but it impedes the power of their natural body to fight against immunities. Let's allow their bodies to grow stronger by letting it build its own antibodies. Babies are a lot stronger than we think.

As per water, I have always combined formula and breast milk for my kids and I do not give water till 6 months when they start taking solids because both milk contain about 80% water already. Yes, I know this is very controversial but even if we want to give water, pls let it be very minimal our babies need milk and not water at this stage. Water should not replace feeding.

I know it's a running battler with our mothers and mils' and it requires a lot of wisdom to handle. God help us.

She had her 3 daughters there and it was prescribed. I kno this ccos I wasi was always there for her delivery and discharge.

I even just called my paediatrician in Abuja who when I asked her asked me "who told u gripe water is not to be given to babies"? I just told her i needed to clarify something. She said there is nothing wrong administering it once u sense d baby feeling pain on d stomach especially around d navel. It's also used to treat colic.

In all mothers, do what ur mind agrees with. If ur mind doesn't agree with administering it then don't otherwise do what it agrees with.

Kimoni i feel u.Nitas maybe frm the newly manufactured bt wen i had my baby even the hospital said i shldnt give gripe water and nospamin so i used Infacol which was gentle for my babys tummy. Reason why i said i feel Kimoni was that the doctors also said we shldnt load our kids with diff drugs and we shld let their bodies build their own antibodies. Tis well, may God help us mothers,amin.

Since u re nt breadtfeeding exclusively, then go ahead and gv water. If u can, wait d colic out. It ll pass wt tym. Burp her well after feeding and wen u can watch her, lie her on her tummy. Dont gv paracetamol just because pple re carrying ur baby. Its nt necessary.

Mytestimony, abeg dont load ur baby with all dis things yet. She's still really tender for all d medications them.....ur breast milk contains all she needs. Water, pcm, gripe water, kola nut etc.!....haba!
Talk it over with ur MIL or stylishly drag her to ur doctor's and ask questions so that she can hear for herself. MILs like to forget that the we re no longer in d 70's....

My cousin did d same to her MIL when mama insisted on doing circumcision for a baby girl. Na so my cousin form innocenty go ask question for hospital....dem kukuma lecture and wash d MIL commot for dere. Wisdom is profitable to direct.....avoid stories dat touch.

Gr8fulheart,tom brown is the combination of maize,millet soya milk and groundnut. Its mostly eaten by notherners but its now known by a few here in the south.we use to get from kaduna in those days.
It usually comes in powder for so u can store in a dry container. I make for my baby tho its a tedious exercise bt worth it. You fry your maize in a dry pan,also fry ur groundnut too(u can buy one derica)do same to millet then as for the soya beans fry it first then grind roughly to remove the shaft,blow away the shaft(the shaft is not good for consumption) after that combine all these four ingredients and grind all togeda then store in an air tight container.

You can wash your babys bottle with a seperate long brush or sponge just for the bottles alone then u can put them in a clean preferably white plastic and put milton tablet in it and add water just to cover the bottle.you can also store in sterilising unit if u av steady nepa supply.

To cook tom brown,mix the quantity you want in cold water from onset bt make sure ders more water cos it will swell and thicken wen done.keep turning till it cooks.jst like u want to cook pap. 6 months baby can take it thats why u av to make sure the shaft of soya beans is discarded. You don av to mix it with pap cos combination of the tom brown alrdy contains maize. When tom brown is cooked add ur babys formula,mix and feed. Its healthy and makes babies add weight.

You do realize this vaccine is booster dose. Its for 0-5yrs. I asked two medical doctors and they both said there is nothing wrong in my lo taking it. I still repeat what I said earlier check your immunization cards and ask your docs too.

Booster dose is for older kids/adults...not babies who recently just took the initial dose.

You can't booster a 3month old baby,when he or she only just took the initial dose.

It's your baby..you should always keep that in mind. If anything happens,you are going to bear the burden.

Water for a one week old baby is a no no. Not only do ebf babies not need water, you can introduce germs into the baby's system...that's apart from the potential water Intoxication.

Excessive pcm is bad. Asides from the fact that it affects the liver, you also do not want to do anything that will affect your baby's natural pain blockers.

If you shut up, ti e lo ma da o (if you understand Yoruba).
