You won't notice much UI difference as 4.2 to 4.4 was predominantly sytsem-side improvements. Update to Lollipop and knock yourself out. I'm on S4 i9500. Updated to lollipop 5.0.1. Na every minute na I dey press d phone now

Sorry o... U will still root it after you have updated. Plus as a matter of principle, I don't assist people that knowingly circumvent the law. Chances are very high that you have also changed your IMEI and this for me a shout a no-no. It's still updatable but you are gonna have to figure it out. Or let your bro update it for you

Why won't there be interface difference after the update? Don't you think the update will be OTA for Nigeria soon? Am scared of downloading a third party update not directly sent as it my pose a threat to my phone.

Africa is one of the last markets that Samsung rolls out updates to. The links I have provided are for German and Poland updates. Samsung rolls out updates to more advanced markets before considering us. I updated my S4 to Lollipop and it gave me an interface that looked like Note 4. So I don't think there will be much difference on a Note 4.

Ultimately the update you download from the links above are still the same as the updates you'll receive, that's if ever you receive the update (as it is it's highly unlikely).... It's just about whether or not you wanna upgrade your device, there are no side effects cos It's an official firmware for your device from Samsung, the only difference is that you're downloading it yourself and flashing it manually... Cos if you decide to wait for the OTA, old age shall catch up with thee, and you still won't get the update ✔

OK lemme break it down. Samsung makes the updates available in phases. So what happens is that Samsung aficionados in the regions that receive the updates first, host these files on websites for people in other regions that haven't yet received these updates to download and install in their devices. The most popular of these sites that host Samsung update files is sammobile.com. The problem is that the site limits download speed to 15kb/s and for a 1gb+ file that is a long wait. Add that to the fact that the downloads are not resumable and it's a terrible situation for us in Nigeria where we have slow unreliable connections. So what most people try to look for are sites that host this file as direct downloads that are resumable. From experience, I find that Iranian sites tend to be a the ones that have direct reaumabale links for two primary reasons
1) Slow connection like us
2) Due to international sanctions most Iranians cannot reach a number of these sites which operate from the US. So those that know how to bypass the restrictions download these files and make them available for others to download without any restrictions.

So to summarise, these are Not 3rd party files/updates. There are Samsung updates hosted on 3rd party sites to facilitate speedy downloads.
