Onegig and others, pls I've got a little ish with my laptop. It's a Brian Laptop. 

When I power on, it gives a long and high beep sound that I have to depress any key to make it stop.

I also will have to press a key before it boots
After that, it functions well. All keys work as they should. 

But after few seconds of booting, ALL keys cease.
I won't be able to use the laptop at all
Any clue?
The mouse also sticks.....bought an external mouse. Same problem 

But it works well when I boot in safe mode

the problem should be either from a malfunctioning driver, or a startup program, virus, or malware. Try logging  into safe mode, then run msconfig, go to the startup tab and disable all the startup programs. Now reboot normally. If it works, then you'll have to enable them one by one till you figure out which one's faulty. Got my drift?

depress the windows logo key on your keyboard and press r,
type msconfig into the dialog box, then hit enter.
Follow the remaining steps as stated earlier. Goodluck

This laptop bas been like this for a year....it got to a point I abandoned it. running my Masters programme now, I think I need it more than before.

I took it to Brian service Centre on Allen Avenue, the guy said it's a keyboard problem. He changed the keyboard but the problem persisted.

He later said it's a motherboard issue and that another would gulp #30,000 from my pocket.

I told him to couple it back......

That was how I left the place.

When bigt2 gave his diagnosis, I was reluctant to carry it out cus I don't want to be met with another disappointment.

It was Onegig 's mention that spurred me on to give it a try.

And alas.....i was able to disable all those startups, it worked.

HA...yes sir, I had to research, read and EVEN PRAY to fix this issue.
I got suggestions to check and clean the cooling fan.
To check processes in Task Manager
To check heat sink and so on.

BUT the one's that I payed greater attention to are O.S Registry errors/booting file corruption and Hard disk error which I carried out initially.

My results were for Hardware Diagnostics were:
Long DST: FAILED
Failure ID: Bla Bla Bla
Product ID: Bla Bla Bla
Hard Drive 1

Ur hard drive may need regenerating or u have installed an aplication with a lot of dependencies taking up ur memory.
Wen u remove some aplications from startup,its dependencies may still be running in the memory.I always advise u use services.msc instead of msconfig cuz over there,u can configure most operations to run auto,manual or stop.

All the gurus in the house I salute you guys. I have important school assignment to attend to and my laptop just started running weird. The problem started after copying small torrent file from my phone to my laptop. When I start the system it will work normally , but when I start watching films or browsing, it will start running very slow and keep ceasing and freezing. The last time I had problem like that after downloading some softwares, I ran a full system scan and the system detected some malwares which I removed and the system continue working properly. But now, I ran the full system scan using same Microsoft essential but still the problem persist. Thank you guys.
