It's like this "no funding" thing is now a new anthem.
American schools are not obliged to fund any student. Much less an international student who doesn't have stellar grades. As a matter of fact even with stellar grades, funding is not a guarantee.
I've seen a couple come here talking about funding.

To clarify, Funding is usually given to a select few and most times it's attached to professors research labs, teaching assistants and they ensure that the best students get these.
The only way to make things easier is to make sure you do your research before applying. Mail these professors ahead of time. Not after your applying you begin to hunt for funding that may likely never come.

Besides not all schools can fund. No matter how hard you try.
Budget cuts everywhere. Once again. Research before applying!

I don't see how getting funding as an international student is your right. If this was the case why all the requirements to show you can fund your studies when applying for admission/visa?

Show me the policy statement that says so.

Hello guys, I got an admission notification from wayne state. they said I should send financial statement and official test scores. Who has information about this school. Also, there is noting on funding, I would contact the department on that. Thanks

ttmacoy, when I respond in terms of financial aid, I categorically stated my schools statistics of getting funding. You have at least a 70% chance of getting a scholarship either a tuition scholarship, GA, TA, RA or International Merit scholarship (90%). We have a lot of scholarships you can go for, so you select the one that best suit you. US Universities are expensive when you consider your spending for the two years of your stay. So one is encourage to source for funding. I bet you cannot afford the fees without seeking for funding or Job here. So you have to make it a right because without it, no masters program

The chances of getting admission here is high 86%. Its not a high ranked school, I really do not need the masters program much so the ranking doesn't matter in this respect to me (It would be handy in Nigeria, when I decide to come back ). We all have our aim of coming here and what you set out to achieve. You will find student here joke about getting scholarship for being black lol. Its just a usual joke around here cos I've not seen any Nigerian here or other friends in even in my class without some sort of funding partial or full.
