A upgrade from soft skins. Now to standize to one vehicle.

They were still soft skinned vehicles in the report.

But the appearance of armoured vehicles is a good thing.

Report on Al Jazeera.

They ended up going into defence as enemy soldiers were spotted.

It seems they were preparing to launch an attack.

Mostly Old equipment, nothing significantly new.

Your Claim that the Army mostly fielded soft skins is ill-informed.

His right though.

The NA can't field 3 standardised motorised or mechanised battalions.

Most of the armoured vehicles support ground troops.

It simply because the N.A doesn't have a large local defence industry and operates a diversified defence procurement policy.

Armoured vehicle productions are still to sparse to fill the gaps. Besides, it's expensive to do that.

No country apart from the U.S, can deploy full mechanised battalions.

N.A can well fill 3 mechanised battalions, it has enough vehicles to field 5, however a lot of factors would first have to be taken into consideration.

Yes, Al Jazeera said something to that effect. My point is that the pictures doesn't show advancing troops. Just troops getting ready to move out.

SA deploy full mechanized battalions with around 100 ifv or apc if it is motorised. All of the same type. It is not that hard. Standizing is actually cheaper and improves your logistical support.

No, I don't think it is about having a military industry though they're needed to help coming up with tactics, procedures etc

Cause of the current pillar structure an SA mechanised or motorised battalion is around 80+ vehicles without support vehicles.

So yes, SA can deploy around 4 mechanised or motorised battalions. Though SA deploys battalion groups.

They won't allow cameras when advancing/moving.

Looks like they're advancing but stopped to replenish and rest. So they dug up.

M.I.C guarantees standardisation.

Only difference is a Nigerian motorised/ mechanised battalion would have a mix of different vehicles.

You don't want a mix though. It means that you need more spares, that means more money, more logiscal trucks, more chance somthi g gets lost and it effectis the mobility since each vehicle has different range and cross country mobility.

Simple...... Transfer ICP and DCD to Nigeria. If we add these to the Igirigi and Proforce we have, we can then ensure a nice standardisation regime.

Is there not all ready a deal to build a few factories in Nigeria. Nigeria should stop playing around they buy stuff at the numbers SA gets for say prototyping and testing.

They do, the IKRI MRAP which is jointly developed by DCD and Mekahog would begin Nigeria productions this year.

however, orders are for the Police, not military.

Large scale orders can only be gotten from China or Nigeria productions. Again, we'll have to wait and see.
