How do we avoid the impending dangers to Nigeria’s economy and existence under a Buhari presidency? We must need to face reality as there is no magic in governance. Extremely hard times lies ahead for this country if Buhari ever emerges victorious.

How do you explain to a Niger Deltan that despite GEJ's achievements in almost all sectors, roads, bridges, railways, agriculture, automobile, alamajiri schools, new universities, fertilizer and ghost worker scam elimination, freedom of press, FOI, free and fair elections, power sector. .........etc, he is still booted out.

What will stop the creeks from going haywire again? Buhari will send the troops to the creeks and together they will set the oil facilities ablaze.
OBJ's use of JTF force could not help as no Oil producing company will risk producing crude and killing staff in a volatile region. GEJ under Yaradua had to get down to the creeks to to talk to these boys and effect the amnesty program because they found him as a representation in government.

It will be impossible to convince a ND minority albeit a militant that their own was not persecuted out of office. And that will be the theme of their new struggle. The long term solution to this mess is implementing the Confab report and enthroning true federalism.

A lot of opportunities are springing up around Africa and the IOCs are already geared towards investing in these newer and saner climes than invest in an unstable Niger delta . And while these troubles persists, the oil producing companies will simply withdraw their personnel from the volatile region and all foreign investments will seize in all sectors.

Unfortunately, even if the Nigerian troops kill 90% of the militants, it will take just one militant, a dynamite and just one strategic location along the multi- kilometer trunk lines to continue to wreck havoc to the Nigerian economy.

Fast forward to 2019, if we remain one country and without a civil war,, we will be an economic wreck with no allocations and salaries, no capital projects, no hope with dollar exchanging for 400 naira and we are worse off than we were in 2015.

Cos the truth is that without crude proceeds for now, Nigeria is finished.

And then, we'll be screaming another 'Change' because we would have learnt a bitter lesson in the hands of the Fulanis, Tinubu and Saraki. And then we will ask.... Why were we this silly?

And before you quote me, make sure you outline in clear terms how you or Buhari will avert this obvious calamity staring us in the face
Only last week, they creek boys seem to have resumed activities by kidnapping at Yoho facility operated by Exxonmobil and have shut in 80KBD already. Are we ready for this for the next 4 years?

The entire world stands to benefit from a crisis in the Niger delta. Its not a coincidence that USA who abandoned us at the height of bokoharam is busy shouting for change in govt . Crises in the ND will reduce supply of crude to the Oil market and that would drive up the price of crude for producing countries.... But at Nigeria's expense.

Is Buhari is any way a better Democratic president than GEJ? Is this risk worth it?

Nigerians.... Be Warned!!!
so Nigerians should be held hostage to bad leader ship?

let the guy be jare. I wonder who he is trying to fool with the write-up. He think we need to do some explaning to some militants in d creek. If Jonathan indeed lose this election all they will need to hear is that we conduct an election and uncle Jonathan lost. Simple! Y didn't they go about discussing among themselves what they will need to say to the north that despite the large support for Buhari, he still lose. Jonathan is not bigger than Nigeria. If he lose so be it. We will always survive.

No, Nigerians should allow GEJ implement the Confab report that will enthrone true federalism.

Until that is done it will be militants today, OPC, Ombatse, Massob, Fulani herders tomorrow.

Simply put, lets allow GEJ correct the structure. He has the confab report, lets let him implement it.

Buhari has a date with history. I don't see Jonathan winning this election. Based on the PVC collected so far the North West region which is Buhari's stronghold has the highest number of PVC collected which is 15,999,398 more than South East and South South put altogether which is 15,040,015. Other Buhari's strongholds of South West and North East has 9,238,713 and 7,922,000 respectively. Even the North Central where Buhari is also strong has 7,661,576 as the figure for the PVC collected. FCT which has 669,109 is too close to call between both parties. Let us face the reality on the ground, Buhari will win this election and defeat Jonathan in a landslide the way he won the APC presidential primary election. The only option left for Jonathan is to prevent this election from holding but it is too late. Another option is to massively rig the election but this has been put in check with the introduction of the PVC and the card reader. I will only advise Jonathan to start preparing his handover notes.

Aren't we forgething something here?Buhari's fan base has never been this big.How many states Was the CPC controlling then? Now,he has succeeded in making some in-roads into even the south south states. The south west is locked down for him, like it or not.I could still remember During the 2011 election in Bayelsa state,Buhari had just a vote in that state. But you and i know that this time around, its gonna be a different ball game entirely. There is gonna be a lot of protest votes coming from that state.Remember Ex governor Timipre Sylva still has lots of supporters there.
Agree with me or not, there are gonna be some South and even Northern governors who would be working behind the scene to deliver their states for Buhari and The Apc.

Here's the region by region analysis of the PVC collection

NW

With 17,620,436 registered voters and an overall collection rate of 90.80%, has a total of 15,999,398 cards collected

SW

With 13,731,090 registered voters and an overall collection rate of 67.28%, has a total of 9,238,713 cards collected

SS

With 10,059,347 registered voters and an overall collection rate of 83.69%, has a total of 8,418,474 cards collected

NE

With 9,107,861 registered voters and an overall collection rate of 86.98%, has a total of 7,922,444 cards collected

NC

With 9,767,411 registered voters and an overall collection rate of 78.44%, has a total of 7,661,576 cards collected

SE

With 7,665,859 registered voters and an overall collection rate of 86.38%, has a total of 6,621,541 cards collected

SS

With 10,059,347 registered voters and an overall collection rate of 83.69%, has a total of 8,418,474 cards collected

FCT

With 881,472 registered voters and an overall collection rate of 64.56%, has a total of 569,109 cards collected

In summary:

1. The NW + NE (23,921,842) is marginally less than all of the South (24,278,728)
2. The NW (15,999,398) region alone has more collected cards (eligible voters) than the SW+SE (15,860,254), SS+SE (15,040,015)
3. The SW (9,238,713) though most vocal in terms of electioneering campaign now doubt because of the Jagagban politics is only marginally better the SS (8,418,474) no thanks to a higher collection rate in the SS compared to the SW.
4. The Northerners have once again shown the rest of the country that they are more politically aware with the NW having the highest PVC collection at approximately 90% with NE coming second with 86%
5. If the South wants to have more say in the direction of the country they will need to start taking politics by action more serious instead of their usual talk talk politics.

Implications:

If PVC collection rate is anything to go by in this election year, the North will account for more than 50% of the total vote cast. Here's my projection. Between 50-60% of those that collected their PVCs are expected to file out in the North. This amounts to approximately 17,370,880
votes (took an average of 55% turn out). While in the South, in the characteristic usual way, a sub 50% rate, conservatively put at 40%. This amounts to 9,711,491.
Kindly note that the above figures are only projections based on the writer's point of view. The winner of this election is definitely going to be one who gathers enough votes in the North (NW to be specific) with appropriate consolidation in the Southern States... In the worst case, I foresee a situation where the one with the most votes cast falling short of the 25% in 24 states. I sure hope this doesn't happen because a run off election is definitely not one we want to see.

bro U spoke well but where I disagree with you is putting so much trust in PVC and Cardreader. I av been saying it time and again that the pvc and card reader is not an all-in-all solution and I am glad Jega came out to say it too. In Jega's own word *PVC is not all problem solving*... PVC is just there to ensure that the votes are not more than the voters. If the registered voters is 1,000,000 then the number of votes must not be more than 1,000,000. PVC will not tell us who vote for who. That is y INEC ask people to protect their vote so that one party's vote will not be given to another. Let all of us go home after voting and see if the election will not be rigged despite there been PVC and Cardreader.
