trendphemmy: Unlocking or unblocking which one? Network operators usually request manufacturers to lock phones assigned to them so as to tie their customers into long contracts and also get them to pay for some of their services, thats why you see verizon, at &t, Orange, T mobile, O2 e.t.c plastered on phones plus uneccessary bloat wares that come with them.. ( That's where rooting comes in ) ..Unlocking is pretty easy to do, just find a mobile technician with software to generate codes using imei or head to eBay and buy the code.. (I.e if you have a PayPal account). The easiest and safest way and you don't have to move an inch... Unblocking is a different ball game, it probably means the phone was reported stolen and has been blocked across all networks in a particular country, this usually applies in western countries where it is used to deter people from stealing tablets and phones. Most times, an unblocked phone will work outside the country it was registered (I.e if it is unlocked). A lot of tech shops will not even attempt, unless you meet rogue ones, Attempting to "unblock" a phone that's is blocked/ barred in UK where I live, will get the police knocking on your door..its considered a criminal offence.. If the phone is requesting for a code when you insert you sim, then it means you just have to unlock not unblock.. I seriously doubt your phone is blocked, am not sure mobile networks in Naija block phones using imei as of yet, I stand corrected on this... You can use checkmend to find out the status of the phone but it will cost you like $3... If you are really curious.. http://www.checkmend.com/us/ |
