Ogun Still Expecting 153,185 Pvcs And 703,492 Voters Yet To Collect PVC In Oyo- by Calculia: 9:31am On Mar 25, 2015 |
Three days to the presidential and National Assembly election, a total of 153,185 Permanent Voter Cards for registered voters in Ogun State are still being expected on Tuesday. The Resident Electoral Commissioner, Independent National Electoral Commission in the state, Chief Timothy Ibitoye, confirmed this in a telephone interview with our correspondent. He said,”We are still expecting the balance of 153,185 PVCs for the state are yet to be collected from Abuja. “Meanwhile, our head of Information Communication Technology is in Abuja and we are expecting him with the remaining PVCs today or tomorrow(Wednesday). “You know, the chairman has said the collection of PVCs has been extended till Wednesday. The total registered voters in the state are 1,795,794, while the total number received from Abuja so far is 1,642,607. The total number distributed is 1,136,003, and the number that remained uncollected is 506,604. The percentage recorded on the number of PVCs collected based on the number received is 69 per cent, while the percentage recorded on PVCs collected based on registered voters is 63.3 per cent. The state governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, had condemned the piecemeal nature in which PVCs were released to the state by INEC. He also alleged that over 600,000 ‘strange’ PVCs, brought to the state by the commission, did not belong to the people of the state. 703,492 voters yet to collect PVC in Oyo- INEC Posted by: Group in News Update 2 days ago The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has disclosed that 703,492 Permanent Voters Card (PVC) are yet to be collected in Oyo State. We still have at hand 703,492 PVC that are yet to be collected by eligible voters. “The sensitive materials will be moved to the 351 registration areas of the state on Friday, 27th March, while the poll officials too will also move into the camps in order to ensure timely arrival at the voting points on Saturday 28th March. We have 5,620 voting points and they must be adequately protected in order to assure voters of their safety while casting votes,” he said According to him, apart from that, only yesterday we received another 13,000 PVC’s from Abuja, and only those that were received from two weeks ago till date will be distributed. The Oyo REC said different types of identification to be used by all categories of ad-hoc personnel will be sighted at the meeting with the security chiefs in the state in order to reduce problems arising from identification. According to him, we have packaged documents that will assist the security agencies in the task of mobilization and deployment of their personnel. Akeju promised that the agency is working round the clock to ensure the safety of the registered voters during the election. Also addressing journalist shortly after the meeting on behalf of other security chiefs the state, Oyo State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Muhammad Katsina assured the members of the public that the atmosphere will be peaceful before, during and after the general elections. “We have deliberated here extensively and we are determined to maintain law and order. We want to inform members of the public that we will spare nobody that causes breakdown of law and order. With the morale of our men on ground we are certain that Oyo State will be a good reference point after the conduct of the election,” he said http://www.punchng.com/news/ogun-still-expecting-153185-pvcs/ http://thenationonlineng.net/new/703492-voters-yet-to-collect-pvc-in-oyo-inec/ |

EcoTerror:Please stop talking nonsense!!!,governor ibikunle amosun who is an APC governor was the first to inform inec about how alot of people were not been able to collect their pvc's............the inec you PDP members were praising at 2011 suddenly now look like a devil to you people because it is obvious goodluck jonathan was going to loose the election because most nigerians are tired of this clueless government Wakacome Calculia:Must you play politics with every issue in nigeria??Let me shock you!!!ogun state is a 70%APC state and 30% for PDP, so if many people in ogun are not able to collect their pvc it means that it is PDP that is even trying to rig in ogun state since they know they will loose in ogun state.... Calculia:Delivered to who?? people that have been displaced to middle belt and cameroun Someone called from BORNU saying nobody in his LG has PVC. Those PVC'S are in someone's custody. On election day, they will bring it out and thumb print APC. As I speak to you about 1MILLION nigeriens and Benin rep have PVC, don't forget the Northern Elders forum donated machines for registration in the North and the purported increase in polling units in the North by Jega. God pass them Let God's will be done. Meanwhile, 2. 3 Million lagosians don't have PVC and APC is not complaining On a serious note OJUKWU WAS RIGHT. there is no country like Nigeria, we are deceiving ourselves. 4 Likes |
