TAN Shuts Down Lagos For Jonathan (photos) by Splashme: 9:42am On Mar 25, 2015 |
The Transformation Ambassadors of Nigeria (TAN) on Tuesday shut down the commercial city of Lagos for President Goodluck Jonathan and Jimi Agbaje in an unprecedented mega rally at the National Stadium. Thousands of delegates from all parts of the state representing various professional groups, artisans, organised business groups, teachers, traders, small scale business operators, doctors, drivers and transporters. Others present were landlord associations, tenants associations, nurses, nursing mothers, bus conductors, importers, association of clearing agents, students, and others from all parts of the country, especially the South-west geopolitical zone started arriving for the rally as early as 7 a.m. There were about 786 of such registered groups that participated. Also on parade was the “association of the over-marginalised Lagosians,” who claimed to be tired of the tactics/antics of the city’s godfather and his numerous godsons and daughters. They now want identify with the transformation movement of President Jonathan and want to fully identify with TAN so that the transformation wind would sweep through Lagos and the entire geopolitical zone. Addressing the gathering, the leader and coordinator of the over one thousand groups that turned up for the rally, Somtochukwu Anaeli, paid a glowing tribute to the international non-governmental organisation (NGO) for giving a sense of direction to the nation at the crucial time in the nation’s history when the opposition political party was having a field day through deceits and propaganda. Anaeli noted that with the mammoth crowd that trooped out for the rally, and those who always honour calls by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), it was sincerely obvious that Lagos State was solidly behind the election bid of Jonathan. The President of Igbo Youths in Lagos, Emeka Agbo, described the TAN boss as the eye and voice of Ndigbo. He pointed out that all Igbos home and abroad are behind Dr. Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah in his struggles to mobilise Nigerians massively for a resounding victory for Jonathan and other PDP candidates in the coming general election. He said the need for the PDP to take over Lagos State was imperative because of the draconian and discriminatory system of governance by the opposition party in the state. Ben Chukwukelu, the leader of Anambra community in Lagos, said all the 177 communities of the state are solidly behind the president in the second tenure project. He said the people of Anambra State took the decision to swim with Jonathan because he had performed much more than all his predecessors in their first tenures. The National Vice-Chairman of TAN and a member of the Presidential Campaign Organisation of the PDP, Ubah in his remarks, said that TAN had made a statement with the Lagos mega rally that there is no vacancy in Aso Rock Presidential Villa till 2019. He therefore urged Lagosians to join the political avalanche called TAN train and be part of progress even as he warned them against listening to those who have made up their minds not to see the revolution the transformation agenda has caused in the country. He said that his group would not spare anything humanly possible to liberate the people of Lagos State from the stranglehold of the opposition. The PDP governorship candidate for Lagos State, Mr. Jimi Agbaje, in his speech, promised to run a fair and open administration, which will give everybody irrespective of tribe and religion the opportunity to actualise their potentials. He pointed out that the only way they can put an end to the oppressive government of the opposition is to troop out on March 28 and April 11 and vote for the PDP. Agbaje also urged the mammoth crowd not to be intimidated by the noise of the opposition, which has proved beyond every reasonable doubt that they are not really interested in the welfare of Lagosians or Nigerians. The crowd latter moved out of the National Stadium for the street to street sensitisation march along the ever-busy Ikorodu road round some major streets of the city, while the entire Lagosians cheered them on. Captains of industries, eminent politicians and other interest groups like the Lagos chapter of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) took out time to identify with TAN and her Lagos Mega rally. http://www.thisdaylive.com/articles/tan-shuts-down-lagos-for-jonathan-agbaje/205014/ 16 Likes 1 Share
