We can keep doing the same thing, the same way and expect different result. Is high time we come together as one "unity in diversity". I believe in voting for a leader that will turn the fortune of this nation around, irrespective of its age, ethnicity , religion. I will rather vote for a progressive old man than a clueless young man. I will rather vote for a competent Christian than an impotent Muslim.

Let's look beyond the surface.

To keep Nigeria one is a task that must be achieved.

I hear what you're saying but think its a false argument. The suya seller or beggar in Kano has not been ruling you, the elites from that region have, and the suya seller is just as much a victim.

Secondly, it is Asari's solution to his so called disagreements that I find puerile. He wants us to continue enduring bad governance for what reason? If not so he can continue getting paid for doing nothing at the expense of development and progress for ordinary Nigerians then for what reason? He likes to make grandiose and seemingly plausible arguments that always end up specious when properly dissected. Asari is only fighting for his own stomach, and wants to get other poor people fighting for him and his stomach as well by using infantile logic.

Are we saying the solution to underdevelopment in the region and injustice is bad governance? Odilli that is from the region and ruled Rivers State for eight years, what benefit did the people obtain from his leadership?

That is weird politics. Good leaders are not limited to any one region. If I know your State of origin, I will list out names of men and women from there who have the potential to give Nigeria patriotic and redemptive leadership. You might even be one of them. Again, good leaders do not exist among the old people alone. Look at historic figures like George Washinghton, Gandhi, De Gaulle, Lenin and others. They started with zeal and energy of youth. Even our tenacious Mandela started as a youngman, continued until victory came in his old age. He gave up on grounds of age despite the fact that he had a good team and was still needed.
Same with Ahmadu Bello, Azikiwe and great Awo.
Our Buhari was great in his time, no doubt but is now unfortunately out moded. Consider that the first thing he will do in case of winning will be to reassemble his senile team of David West and co to lead us at this time.

Asari you are on point. I support you 100%. Like your wife said "if a south-South man is not good enough to be president of Nigeria then Nigeria is not good enough to get South-south oil money". If for some reason Buhari is elected, then not one drop of oil is leaving the south-south! The south-south are the ones paying for the 'upkeep' of Nigeria. They have the seaports, they have the oil and Gas,they don't need Nigeria. It is a sacrilege to tell the south-South people who will be their president while taking their oil money. The people shouting Sai Buhari are the ones that are waiting every month to collect their monthly allocation which is largely paid for by the Oil money coming from GEJ's ancestral land. It will be interesting to see how Buhari will fulfil all the wonderful promises he is making now without any oil money and should Buhari mobilise to they army against the Niger Delta militants,he will learn the bitter lesson that OBJ and Yaradua learnt. That creek warfare is a different ball game altogether. The so called one Nigeria is a scam.

What "one Nigeria" means to the people of Nigeria

Igbo man: One Nigeria= Slavery

South-South man: One Nigeria = Daylight Robbery

Yoruba man : One Nigeria = Access to Oil and Gas benefits

Northerner: One Nigeria = Chei! No seaport and no oil money? How una want make I take survive? We must be one Nigeria forever!!

You can say that again..Their 'born to rule' mentality should be wiped out. Abacha threw ur brother into prison like a common criminal for over 5 yrs and ur so-called "powerful" tribe couldnt do shyt. Yoruba senior military officers were all cowering like d limpdicks they are.....smh

its when ur talk of ND activists hurting themselves more than others dat i understood ur predicament. Ur pple dont know what is courage, u have been playing lapdog to the north since d heydays of d sokoto caliphate....so i'm not surprised u cant differentiate between courage and cowardice. Courage comes with a price...Igbos suffered hunger and deprivation during d civil war because they dared challenge the treatment of their pple in Nigeria; Niger Delta was subjected to heavy bombardment because they asked for more right to resources in their OWN lands. I dont expect u to understand what it takes to look beyond d pain u will suffer and fight for what u believe in.

Keep waiting on hand-me-downs from ur northern masters...its ur destiny.
It is you who don't understand the difference between stupidity and courage. What ND militants have displayed over the years is stupidity. There is oil spill in your land and you are still blowing up pipelines. You don't worsen an already bad situation and claim you have courage. Your water wells are now oil wells. No good potable water, no farmland, and almost all the fishes in your rivers are dead. All your over paid praise singers you call militants warlords now have billions but wouldn't invest on your land- in readiness to destroy what's left so they can have money to their pockets while you people die of NA bullets, poverty and hunger.
While you people are blowing up yourselves, who are the ones advocating resource control?
Don't imagine the Yorubas are the ones occupying ND. We would've got at least 50% derivation without shooting a gun.
Where were you people when the yorubas were fighting wars, taking up lands and establishing empires? In your caves? You people are so lucky the whitemen came just on time, otherwise, most part of your region would've been under the Yorubas by now.
The era of killing oneself to prove a point is gone. We are not barbarians. I know when writing the history for the struggle for democracy, only one tribe will come at a distant first. All you people did-and still doing without success- is fighting only for yourselves.
And how are we slaves to the Northerners? Isn't that term the befitting for you people? We both take directly from you and all you could do is fight yourselves.
Continue your senseless fight ok? As for us, we do not have anything else to fight for right now. If and when we have a reason to do so, I hope you people will learn one or two things.

Let us stick to the point please. I don't think anyone is claiming leadership properties are exclusive to one region of the country over another, but the simple fact is the viable choice in this election is between Jonathan and Buhari, so no need for blue sky wishful thinking at this point, let us accept that reality.

Jonathan's presidency has not benefitted the region, he is aware of this. That is why when he went on the campaign trail in the region he was full of apologetics and renewed promises, because his presidency has not made any meaningful impact in the region except for in the pocket of a few corrupt people and miscreants like Asari. Even Asari in an interview a few months ago acknowledged that Jonathan has underperformed so the question is, why does he still insist on the continuation of bad governance if not just for his pocket? Most well meaning Nigerians have said we need to tackle corruption to progress as a country, why would Asari insist on the continuation of a government that seems impotent to fight corruption and even seems a very part of the corruption Nigerians seek to see tackled?

The issue remains good governance and here is the funny thing. It isn't just the Niger Delta that Jonathan's presidency hasn't made an impact on. Jonathan's presidency has not made an impact in the south east, in the south west, in the middle belt, so what are we talking about here? 5 years later and Nigerians are still complaining about the problems they have been complaining about since time immemorial: no light, corruption, poor infrastructure. Would the choice of some people in this election be based on ethnic sentiments? Yes. Should that stop the people who are genuinely disappointed in the Jonathan administration from voting for something else? I don't think so.

I agree that we should not expand the simple issues. I go further to say that we must be factual. Firstly let me say that the issues will be sorted out by the electorate in a matter of days, for or against our respective positions. If you say tribalism is going to influence the elections, I beg to ask if it has been any different in the past.
Now I want us to be mathematical. Put Jonathans achievement in 5 yrs he has been in power side by side of those of Buhari in the one year he was in power. Multiply Buharis achievement by five to put it at par with that of Jonathan. Are you there Sir?
We want change but our greatest mistake as I insinuated earlier is limiting our choices to only two people, one of whom has failed and the other sure to fail. Where are the Fasholas, Akpabios, and many others like them? We used politics to eliminate them and to throw up those two men. I am not a politician but a nationalist and observer in private practice.

Don't just times the Buhari years by five, multiple the available money to effect change to take into account oil selling at RECORD levels for most of those five years, no significant inherited debt, and you will see why most sensible people see Jonathan as a mute option to not even be considered. When people say he has underperformed, it is taking into account the resources and good will that were available at his disposal.

The issue of why our politics throws up the choice we are now faced with is a retrospective issue for another day, Nigerians have a choice in a few days, and I see no sense whatsoever in rewarding a failed president and a failed party with another four years. Heck if even to just strengthen and progress our democracy. As you rightly said, the choice lies with the people, and as long as the elections are free and fair and there is no voilence, the choice of the people should be respected.

...and can't you see how they've turned SW to Bama? You're clueless.
And who took Kwara state from who?
I guess you think Kwara state=Ilorin emirate? I laugh at your ignorance. Sorry, we allowed Alimi to take Ilorin because of Afonja's rebellion. That's the price! And when the Gambari wanted to press forward, you know what happened in Osogbo? It was what is to happen to the invading Biafran Army at Ore. I can authoritatively assure you that not an inch outside Ilorin is going to the North in the event of break up- that's even if Ilorin would want to be part of the North.
Presently, Igbomina house is located exactly at the boundary between Ilorin and Ganmo if you really know where you're talking of. And Igbominaland ocuppies 3 LGs in Kwara state up to Ila-Orangun in Osun State.
As I type this Ilorin emirate is trapped between people who wouldn't have anything to do with the Hausas in the event of a break up and they will have to migrate to Sokoto or remain in the SW. Apart from Ilorin(also Yoruba) who occupies just 3 LGs of the 16 LGs, 8 other LGs are purely Yorubas. Institutionalizing regional governments will open your eyes.
However, a visit to Kwara State will cure your ignorance.
