True, if l talk naw, una go say l am hard, the guy must have read the form before he signed and submitted, even if he didn't read the form, the fact that he signed it, in the eyes of the law, he is liable to what he signed...

Exactly!!!

I believe the agent must have told him he had a better chance if it's stated in his ds160 form that he's married. Pls let's not forget the Visaofficer guys (on the other thread) often check this thread. So let's watch the kinda solution we proffer. I would rather the dude went back to the embassy and face the music. He might be lucky the visa is not revoked tho'

Firstly, I have a friend on B1/B2 visa in Maryland. He is married with a wife here in naija and also have a baby girl. He want to marry a Muslim U.S citizen again in U.S as I do understand that muslims can marry up to 4 wives. The marriage is not arrangree/sham marriage even though it will lead to him having a green card. My question here is, can he marry again in U.S after he filled that we was married when applying for his current B1/B2 visa status. What is the possibility of him getting Green Card if he should marry again?

Secondly, me too don break that fear enter GTbank and U.S embassy site, my appointment date is 6th of May in Lagos. I have my DS 160 confirmation form with me and other supporting docs. What docs do I need cos I no want make all those askari for embassy gate dey wine me like a suspect say my docs no complete on my interview date.

Chloe7 and LadyGuinivere, una know book well. Una dey impress me so tey I come dey keep tieship with family and friends for U.S.
As a Lagos boy wey dem born for Kano, come skul for Port Harcourt, I go disturb una small for this thread with question, so make una do jeje, hakuri, pele pele, and ndo with me.

Unto your friend matter ist.
Is he a muslim?
Did he marry the naija wife under muslim law? What did he fill as his religion in the form? Islam?
If the answers are in the negative, then how can he claim the benefits of Islam (polygamy)? One is bound by his religion and not of his proposed wife.
Then as for your matter, this queshion no get any complete answer. Have documents to support every assertion or data you fill in your form. Are you married? Yes? Carry evidence. You have property? Yes? Carry evidence. What is your job? Bricklayer? Carry evidence cheesy

me- 74
VO- All of you are going for the summit ( huh)

It is absolutely up to him what he decides to do, he could be lucky,it is up to him if he chose to come out clean with the embassy....l have seen a guy who works with FIRS as a senior management staff, he was issued with a visa,at the point of entry, what he said with what he filled did not tally, he was refused entry, visa revoked and placed on a ban....he is currently in lagos and his cousin in the US has gotten a lawyer for him to file an appeal in the US...it is better to be truthful in visa applications, it is better to be denied telling the truth than obtain the visa via misrepresentation and get into problem, it is not worth it...... sad

I have an aunt too who went to the embassy and told a serious lie and the v.o told her she was even lying and she was given a ban, she later went and tried again and she was pardoned and she even told the v.o the real truth because her hubby has been there illegally for years and they gave her 2 years and she has renewed again

Thanks for the light reading u gave me this night. angry
Though it just dawned on me that this is the visit visa thread and we may somewhat be derailing the thread but make I quick give the answer in a nutshell.
Polygamy is illegal. Various state Laws prohibit it. Although certain clerics /imams perform secret 2nd marriages or a man may marry one woman under civil law, and then marries one, two or three others in religious ceremonies that are not recognized by the state whilst In other cases, men marry women in both America and abroad. However, in all the scenarios above, none is valid or recognized in the US so not valid for immigration purposes.
In your friend's case, he's already in a civil union and documented as such so the 2nd marriage will not work.
Mbok, no vex o! I no go answer questions when no be simple" I wan waka go US, come back after my trip again"
Good luck and God's grace in your interview
