True talk, Gowon. That is why it is a very healthy political development for our country to continue to have more great Igbo sons and daughters like Rochas Okorocha, Amaechi, joe igbokwe, Obiageli Ezekwesili, Abagworo (Nairaland), GeneralBuhari (Nairaland), Ezechi (Nairaland), Berem (Nairaland) and MANY other Igbos who fully understand the significance of building bridges with peoples from the other regions. Although some narrow-minded ethnic jingoists among their fellow Igbos always lambast them for this; and although some misguided and confused, mainly foreign-based, Igbos also undermine them, wittingly or unwittingly, by their pointless secessionist posturings, I can assure these Igbo bridge-builders that their efforts are being fully appreciated by non-Igbos. And I have no doubt in my mind that one of these bridge-builders (or some others of their kinsmen) would one day reap the rewards of their excellent job of reaching out to other Nigerians, with so much open mind. When (and not if) the time comes, I will personally campaign for Okorocha, Amaechi or Obiageli Ezekwesili, whole-heartedly, and with my own resources (and expecting no material returns whatsoever from them), just as my own token of appreciation and reciprocity to them, for the sacrifices they made in enduring so much venomous hatred from their misguided kinsmen simply because they choose to live beyond ethnic/religious bigotry. 1 Like |
