Mark 11:26 -some manuscripts include here words similar to Matthew 6:15 Its nt a mistake bro, it was deliberately removed It is not also in NIV..... I will bring more facts stay tuned ... Ok more (copy nd paste )-- What Happened to Mark 11:26!?- The English translations we have for the book of Mark are based upon the original Greek writings. The Greek writings we have are ancient manuscripts. These manuscripts are on fragments of Scripture that date back to the 1st century at the earliest. The earliest and most reliable manuscripts do not include Mark 11:26 which reads, "But if you do not forgive, neither will your Father in heaven forgive your trespasses." There are many later manuscripts that include this verse and it is widely held that it was added later by a scribe. Why would this happen? The book of Matthew has a similar account of Jesus' teaching His disciples about prayer and Matthew 6:14-15 has this same verse. So, a scribe inserted Mark 11:26 to align Jesus' teachings in the two books. The reality that this verse was not originally in Mark should not cause us concern since we have this Scriptural truth in Matthew. Some versions of the Bible omit verse 26 altogether, others include it and still others place the verse in brackets noting that while it is a true, biblical statement, it is not originally found in Mark. Dr. Tom Constable simply writes: "This verse does not appear in the most important ancient manuscripts of Mark's Gospel. Evidently scribes inserted it later because they associated the preceding verse with Matthew 6:14." oluwasunshine: Maybe Mark 11:26 was excluded (along with others) to make it "easier to read". Just suggesting an answer for the op. |

oluwasunshine:RSV even criticized KJV Lol, Bible Condemns Itself. Revised Standard Version Faults King James Bible. This is From Preface Of RSV. PREFACE The Revised Standard Version of the Bible is an authorized revision of the American Standard Version, published in 1901, which was a revision of the King James Version, published in 1611. The first English version of the Scriptures made by direct translation from the original Hebrew and Greek, and the first to be printed, was the work of William Tyndale. He met bitter opposition. He was accused of willfully per- verting the meaning of the Scriptures, and his New Testaments were ordered to be burned as "untrue translations." He was finally betrayed into the hands of his enemies, and in October 1536 ? was publicly executed and burned at the stake. Yet Tyndale's work became the foundation of subsequent English versions, notably those of Coverdale, 1535; Thomas Matthew (probably a pseudonym for John Rogers), 1537; the Great Bible, 1539; the Geneva Bible, 1560; and the Bishops' Bible, 1568. In 1582 a translation of the New Testament, made from the Latin Vulgate by Roman Catholic scholars, was published at Rheims. The translators who made the King James Version took into account all of these preceding versions; and comparison shows that it owes something to each of them. It kept felicitous phrases and apt expressions, from whatever source, which had stood the test of public usage. It owed most, especially in the New Testament, to Tyndale. The King James Version had to compete with the Geneva Bible in popular use; but in the end it prevailed, and for more than two and a half centuries no other authorized translation of the Bible into English was made. The King James Version became the "Authorized Version" of the English-speaking peoples. The King James Version has with good reason been termed "the noblest monument of English prose." Its revisers in 1881 expressed admiration for "its simplicity, its dignity, its power, its happy turns of expression . . . the music of its cadences, and the felicities of its rhythm." It entered, as no other book has, into the making of the personal character and the public institutions of the English-speaking peoples. We owe to it an incalculable debt. Yet the King James Version has GRAVE DEFECTS. By the middle of the nine- teenth century, the development of Biblical studies and the discovery of many manuscripts more ancient than those upon which the King James Version was based, made it manifest that these defects are so many and so serious as to call for revision of the English translation. The task was undertaken, by authority of the Church of England, in 1870. The English Revised Version of the Bible was published in 1881-1885; and the American Standard Version, its variant embodying the preferences of the American scholars associated in the work, was published in 1901. This is the version of the Bible ifeann credited and recommended so much. Source: http://archive.org/stream/OxfordAnnotatedBibleRevisedStandardVersion-r.s.v.1952/TheOxfordAnnotatedBibleR.s.v.1952_djvu.txt This one I gleaned from Barnabas Gospel Of Barnabas Page 17, Chapter 17 17. In this chapter is clearly perceived the unbelief of Christians, and the true faith of Mumin(Muslims). When Jesus had said this, Philip answered: 'We are content to serve God, but we desire, however, to know God. For Isaiah the prophet said: "Verily thou art a hidden God," and God said to Moses his servant: "I am that which I am." Jesus answered: 'Philip, God is a good without which there is naught good; God is a being without which there is naught that is; God is a life without which there is naught that liveth; so great that he filleth all and is everywhere. He alone hath no equal. He hath had no beginning, nor will he ever have an end, but to everything hath he given a beginning and to everything shall he give an end. He hath no father nor mother; he hath no sons, nor brethren, nor companions. And because God hath no body, therefore he eateth not, sleepeth not, dieth not, walketh not, moveth not, but abideth eternally without human similitude, for that he is incorporeal, uncompounded, immaterial, of the most simple substance. He is so good that he loveth goodness only; he is so just that when he punisheth or pardoneth it cannot be gainsaid. In short, I say unto thee, Philip, that here on earth thou canst not see him nor know him perfectly; but in his kingdom thou shalt see him for ever: wherein consisteth all our happiness and glory.' Philip answered: 'Master, what sayest thou? It is surely written in Isaiah that God is our father; how, then, hath he no sons?' Jesus answered: 'There are written in the prophets many parables, wherefore thou oughtest not to attend to the letter, but to the sense. For all the prophets, that are one hundred and forty-four thousand, whom God hath sent into the world, have spoken darkly. But after me shall come the Splendour of all the prophets and holy ones, and shall shed light upon the darkness of all that the prophets have said, because he is the messenger of God.'(<-prophet Muhammad is referenced here...so clear). And having said this, Jesus sighed and said: 'Have mercy on Israel, O Lord God and look with pity upon Abraham and upon his seed, in order that they may serve thee with truth of heart. His disciples answered: 'So be it, O Lord our God!' Jesus said: 'Verily I say unto you, the scribes and doctors have made void the law of God with their false prophecies, contrary to the prophecies of the true prophets of God: Wherefore God is wroth with the house of Israel and with this faithless generation.' His disciples wept at these words, and said: 'Have mercy, O God, have mercy upon the temple and upon the holy city, and give it not into contempt of the nations that they despise not thy holy covenant.' Jesus answered: 'So be it, Lord God of our fathers.' Read the above^ very well. Jesus clearly predicted distortion of his message and law. There are at least forty(40) different Bibles. Most contradict one another. Some Bible are missing verses and chapters. They even have "kiddie Bible", "Skate Bible", "Women Bible", "Amplified Bible". Very ridiculous!
